  • In this paper, we proposed the development of a smart factory intergrated technology education platform using smart factory based CPPS (Cyber Physical Production System) and VR (Vitrual Reality) technology and educational methods using the platform. A platform has been developed to learn how to integrate 3D digital twin and BOP (Bill of Process)-based manufacturing processes. In addition, Digital Twin established a smart factory-based integrated education platform by linking mechanical systems, digital twins, and virtual reality through the OPC-UA server. Based on this platform, the smart factory integration platform is proposed to have individual elements of the smart factory integration platform through BOP-based digital twin simulation, OPC-UA integration, MES system, SCADA system, and VR interworking.

  • Robots are expected to expand their scope of application to the military field and take on important missions such as surveillance and enemy detection in the coming future warfare. Swarm robots can perform tasks that are difficult or time-consuming for a single robot to be performed more efficiently due to the advantage of having multiple robots. Swarm robots require mutual recognition and collaboration. So they send and receive vast amounts of data, making it increasingly difficult to verify SW. Hardware-in-the-loop simulation used to increase the reliability of mission verification enables SW verification of complex swarm robots, but the amount of verification data exchanged between the HILS device and the simulator increases exponentially according to the number of systems to be verified. So communication overload may occur. In this paper, we propose a digital twin-based communication optimization technique to solve the communication overload problem that occurs in mission verification of swarm robots. Under the proposed Digital Twin based Multi HILS Framework, Network DT can efficiently allocate network resources to each robot according to the mission scenario through the Network Controller algorithm, and can satisfy all sensor generation rates required by individual robots participating in the group. In addition, as a result of an experiment on packet loss rate, it was possible to reduce the packet loss rate from 15.7% to 0.2%.

  • The power industry is undergoing a rapid transformation with the adoption of smart grid standards, advanced communication infrastructure, and new technologies for distributed power. MVDC (Medium Voltage Direct Current) technology plays a vital role in promoting efficient energy transmission and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, necessitating a structured architecture for stable management. This paper implements services defined in IEC 61850 and IEC 62541, defining a Virtual Manufacturing Device (VMD) to objectify the DTS (Digital Twin System). The VMD abstracts essential functions for control and monitoring, which are realized in DTS to enhance capabilities. The objectified DTS data facilitates server-client data exchange. Additionally, the proposed DTS-MS communication protocol defines transmitted data in JSON for remote access, providing node functionality for MVDC testing environments. The paper analyzes reference models for Digital Twin, proposes an Ethernet-based DTS architecture using international standards, and verifies the real-time performance improvements of the proposed system through mathematical simulations.

  • American charter schools are independent public schools of choice, freed from rules but accountable for results. Charter schools have celebrated the 25th anniversary of its creation in 2017 and become part of landscape of public education in America. However, little research has been conducted on an individual charter school. This study aimed to examine the major factors of a successful charter school. A qualitative approach was employed. Seven one-hour in-depth interviews were conducted with semi-structured interview questions. And four teachers were participated. The conclusions are as follows: First, there is the combination of system and cultural factors as major successful factors of the Dayton Early College Academy. Second, system factors are the gateways and the advisory that is a twin at the charter school. The findings are considered to be applied for Korean educational settings and the implications can be used for policy development in Korea.
