A problem that affects children's dentitions is the harmful habit which is difficult to treat. Harmful habits for children are such as abnormal swallowing patterns, low/forward tongue rest posture problem, habitual open-lips resting posture, habitual mouth-breathing, excessive digital sucking habit and tongue thrusting. Tongue thrusting habits cause a bit of cranio-facial skeletal changes and a great deal of dental malocclusion such as anterior open bite. Anterior open bite causes masticatory, speech, and esthetic problems in the growing children and difficulties in diagnosis, treatment, and the prediction of its prognosis. The treatments of such abnormal behaviors involve orofacial myofunctional therapy and using of habit breaking appliance. The prognosis is not determined by the presence of severity of oral habit but the skeletal tendency of the patient. Usage of tongue crib resulted in not only the discontinuance of the habit but also improvement in overbite and overbite. This study showed that relatively successful results could be generated by using removable tongue crib and myofunctional therapy in the case of openbite related to tongue thrusting habit.
Object : This study is designed to evaluate the correlation between the data of DITI(Digital Inrared Thermographic Imaging) examination and the changes of clinical symptoms after the therapy of acupuncture in the patients with spondylolisthesis. Contents : The conservative therapy with acupuncture was performed during 3-4weeks. The acupuncture points of BL23, BL24, BL25, BL40, BL57, BL60, BL62, GB30, GB31, ST36, TE3 was used. In the pre- and post therapy, DITI examinations were performed in patients who had spondylolisthes in L-spine X-ray and were treated by acupuncttare simultaneously, and then tried to correlate the results of clinical symptoms with the difference of thermographic findings at pre-and post acupuncture. Setting : The standard routine thermographic exanninations were performed with thermography (DITI) in the 22 patients with spondylolisthesis at pre- and post acupuncture. Patients : Thermographic imaging of 22 cases was analyzed. They had diagnosed spondylolisthes in L-spine X-ray. They were treated by acupuncture and moxibustion therapy in Wonkwang Oriental Hospital from May, 1998 to May, 2000. Results : 1) The causes were congenital (4.5%), overwork (31.85%), trauma (13.65%), degenerative factor(50%) 2) The DITI results showed 45.4% below $0.3^{\circ}C$, 36.4% between 0.3 and $0.5^{\circ}C$, 4.5% between 0.5 and $0.7^{\circ}C$, 9.1% between 0.7 and $0.9^{\circ}C$, and 4.5% over $0.9^{\circ}C$. 3) The results of treatment using pain scale showes that 27.3% of patientsachieved excellent recovery and 54.6% achieved good recovery. After compairing the DITI results before and after treatment, we found 45.4% of patients achieved excellent recovery and 36.4% achieved good recovery. Conclusion : Acupuncture showed good results over 81.9% in clinical evaluation and 81.8% in DITI. Thermographic examination was valuable in the evaluation of therapeutic effect of acupuncture treatment.

SGDS-K decreased from 3.36 to 3.21, but this was not statistically significant (p=.854). Conclusion : The ICT·Living Lab-based program could be used as a basic material for future research as one of the ways to improve health and quality of life by preventing and addressing the problems faced by the elderly in modern society.
Objective : The worldwide Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has increased the level of depression and decreased the quality of life. This has caused an adverse effect of deteriorating the quality of life. As such, this study attempted to determine the effects of COVID-19 on depression and quality of life. Methods : The content was analyzed by conducting an online survey for two months, from November 2020 to December 2020, targeting 270 adults in their 20s to 60s nationwide. Results : Among the subjects', those in their 50s showed the greatest change in depression (p<.05). In terms of quality of life, there were significant changes in all age groups (p<.001). Among the subject characteristics unmarried individuals showed greater depression after COVID-19 than those who were married (p<.012). In terms of quality of life, married individuals had a higher quality of life than those who were unmarried (p<.001). Conclusion : The results confirmed that COVID-19 increased depression and lowered the quality of life in adults. The impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic, on society is constantly changing. This research needs to be updated.
Objective : This study aimed to investigate the use of electromyography (EMG) to evaluate upper limb movement or function in stroke patients. Methods : We reviewed papers published in journals between January 2018 and December 2021 using PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, RISS, and KISS. The main keywords of databases were ('stroke' OR 'hemiplegia') AND ('EMG' OR 'electromyography' OR 'electromyogram' OR 'muscle activity') AND ('Upper limb' OR 'Hand'). Results : Fifteen studies were selected, most of which evaluated muscle activity. Interventions performing tasks related to activities of daily living (ADLs), using assistive technology, and interventions that provide repetitive training were most frequently applied. Conclusions : When evaluating upper limb functions using electromyography, it is meaningful to present an evaluation that can be used according to the purpose of the study and to provide a basis for setting up interventions that can utilize electromyography during evaluation.

Objective : This study examined the psychometric properties of the 12-item Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced Scale (COPE) using Rasch analysis. COPE is one of the instruments used to measure stress-coping skills. Methods : The study participants were 480 community-dwelling older adults. We tested the instrument's unidimensionality assumption using principal component analysis (PCA). Item fit was examined using infit-and-outfit mean-square (MnSq) and standardized fit statistics (ZSTD). The precision and item difficulty hierarchies of the instrument were examined. The item-difficulty hierarchy was investigated to identify the easy and difficult items. We tested differential item functioning (DIF) for sex and age groups. Results : PCA revealed that the instrument met the unidimensionality assumption (eigenvalue = 1.78). Among the 12 items, item 2 was removed because of misfit (Infit MnSq = 1.33, Infit ZSTD = 5.05, Outfit MnSq = 1.56, Outfit ZSTD = 7.15). The remaining 11 items demonstrated a conceptual item-difficulty hierarchy. The person strata value was 3.10, which is equivalent to a reliability index value of 0.81. There was no DIF for the sex and age groups (DIF contrast <0.27). Conclusion : The findings indicated that the revised COPE-11 has adequate item-level psychometric properties and can accurately measure stress coping skills.

In this study, a systematic review was conducted to analyze the method of applying sEMG to evaluate the swallowing function of the elderly at each stage of swallowing, and to help objectively measure the swallowing stage of the older adults in clinical practice. From 2011 to 2021, 7 studies that met the selection criteria were selected using Pubmed, Scopus, and Web of Science (WoS). As a result of this study, the older adults and adults were divided into an experimental group and a control group and the swallowing phase was analyzed using sEMG only for the older adults. sEMG was used to evaluate swallowing in the oral and pharyngeal stages, and the sEMG attachment site was attached to the swallowing muscle involved in each stage. The collected sEMG data were filtered using a bandpass-filter and a notch-filter, and were analyzed using RMS, amplitude, and maximum spontaneous contraction. In this study, it was found that sEMG can be used as a tool to objectively and quantitatively evaluate the swallowing function in stages. Therefore, it is expected that this study will activate various studies that incorporate sEMG to evaluate the swallowing function in stages.
