A study about UFID for the management and administration of digital map has achieved much progress through the Korea National Geographic Information Institute. But it is ture that the content and process is too complicated to be applied. For overcoming this and to make harmonious management of the object based seamless digital map, we need to develop the method which has the unique feature identifier on the digital map for management and administration. So, we introduce OSID(Object-based Seamless digital map IDentifier) on the object based seamless digital map and apply OSID in the system to manage the digital map. This study is based on the OSID basic structure which is applied in object based seamless digital map and design the structure of OSID system to maintain and manage each feature of the object based seamless digital map.

The orthophto map is seen as the form of picture with the uniform reduced scale as the current terrain map. Thus it provides a reasonable feeling of scene and is easy to be interpreted. Furthermore, digital orthophoto is currently used as the basic terrain information data of the Geo-Spatial Information System(GSIS). Therefore, the orhtophoto map has high potential use as a future terrain map. This paper studies the method of producing orthophoto map by using the digital satellite imagery data taken from SPOT satellite of France. The production of orthophoto map requires the process of generating orthophoto imagery with digital elevation model, which process is called digital differential rectification. As the final accuracy of orthophoto map depends on that of digital elevation model, the precise and efficient production method of digital elevation model should be preceded. This study investigated the method of producing digital elevation model directly from SPOT satellite imagery and generated ortho-image by resampling the original SPOT imagery through digital differential rectification. Finally, Simple orthophoto map was made by overlaying the ortho-image and the contour map from digital elevation model.

As the availability of images from airborne digital camera with high resolution is expanded, a lot of concern are shown about the production of orthoimage and digital map. This study presents the method of updating digital map using orthoimage from airborne digital camera image. Images were georectified using GPS surveying data. For the generation of orthoimage, Lidar DEM was used. The absolute positional accuracy of orthoimage was evaluated using GPS surveying data. And that of the building layer of digital map was estimated using the existed digital map at the scale of 1:1,000. The absolute positional accuracy of orthoimage was as followed: RMSE in X and Y were ${\pm}0.076m$ and ${\pm}0.294m$. The RMSE of the building layer were ${\pm}0.250m$ and ${\pm}0.210m$ in X and Y directions, respectively. The RMSE of the digital map using orthoimage from Aerial Digital Camera image fell within allowable error range established by NGII. Consequently, updating digital map using orthoimage from Aerial Digital Camera image can be applied to various fields including the construction of the framework data and the GIS of local government.

Early, national basic topographical map has been represented, stored, supplied in form of DXF(Data eXchange Format) and present digital map is equipped as over form. Since many parts of digital map has been equipped newly to use early digital map form for geographic information system. Especially, many structural editing and geographical search are demanded to exclude geometric inconsistency and logical inconsistency included in the existing digital map. As above, DXF is unsuitable data format to use in geographic information system. For the sake of efficient format, Digital Map Ver. 2.0 that is new map format was developed. In this study, we developed the Mobile Viewer program development which can let us see immediately the digital maps produced in the form of Digital Map Ver. 2.0.

The Road Name Address system has begun to be applied and widely used since 2011. However, the Digital Map, or the national representative basic map, has no reference to the Road Name Address system. It causes some difficulties to use the Digital Map under the Road Name Address system. In this paper, we suggest a method for generating the expanded Digital Map by adding information about Road Name Address system into the objects of the Digital Map. First, object matching pairs between the road section layer from the Road Name Address Map and the road centerline layer from the Digital Map are found. Then attributes to be copied from the Road Name Address map to the Digital Map are extracted by comparing their attribute tables. Finally the extracted attributes are copied from the Road Name Address Map to the Digital Map. The expanded road centerline layer of the Digital Map then has attributes about road name according to the Road Name Address system, so that the georeferencing of the Digital Map according to the Road Name Address system becomes possible.

From this year, KIGAM, one of Korean government-supported research institutes, has started new national program for digital geologic/natural resources infrastructure building. The goal of this program is to prepare digitally oriented infrastructure for practical digital database building, management, and public services of numerous types of paper maps related to geo-scientific resources or geologic thematic map sets: hydro-geologic map, applied geologic map, geo-chemical map, airborne radiometric/magnetic map, coal geologic map and off-shelf bathymetry map and so forth. As for digital infrastructure, several research issues in this topic are composed of: ISP (Information Strategy Planning), geo-framework modeling of each map set, pilot database building, cyber geo-mineral directory service system, and web based geologic information retrieval system upgrade which services Korean digital geologic maps scaled 1:50K. In this study, UML (Unified Modeling Language)-based data modeling of geo-data sets by and in KIGAM, among them, is mainly discussed, and its results are also presented in the viewpoint of digital geo-modeling ISP. It is expected this model is further progressed with the purpose of being a guidance or framework modeling for geologic thematic mapping and practical database building, as well as other types of national thematic map database building.

The choice of map projection method is depend on the desired map purpose because there is no best projection for maps. Previous projection decisions for published paper maps are not necessarily the right decisions for corresponding digital maps. The map grid and index system is simpler than projection system but it can be easily understanded by general users. In this study, through the study for the grid and index systems of the digital and paper map in our and other countries, I suggested the improvement plan on the problems of our digital map. New grid and index system of this paper are presented on behalf of digital geospatial data which as digital topographic map, digital elevation model and other digital maps.

The digital map expresses natural topography and artificial things with 3D position coordinates in the computer such as the road, railway, building, river, mountain, paddy and dryland. Therefore, those should contribute to the information-oriented society by maintaining information and providing it to users quickly. However it is difficult to maintain the most recent topographic information all the time because of restricted budget and time. The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the updating area of the digital map using remotely sensed data, and to furnish the useful information reducing cost and time. To predict updating area of the digital map, we applied the urban changes analysis method to Landsat TM images from produced date of the digital map to up-to-date. Classification method for urban change analysis applied single band process algorithm. This study presents that updating area of the digital map is predicted by only the rate of 40% on total research area.

As a digital map is tile based of 2D, it is difficult to be satisfied with accuracy and up-to-date. In this study, we analyzed requirements of an object-oriented continuous digital map and designed the system. The digital map is 3D continuous object and has the accuracy and up-to-date, and designs with management system, transfer system, change information management system, frequent updating system and, same time updating system.

Since National Geographic Information System was started, paper maps have been made with computer aided editing of digital map, instead of etching map-size negative film. Automated paper mapping system's necessity is growing more and more, because digital map has changed into Ver.2.0 which include attributes of feature. Therefore, in this study we try to analyze correlation of the digital map feature code and the 1/5,000 topographic map specifications which is necessary for paper mapping automatization using digital map Ver.2.0, and try to develop fundamental modules which will play a core role in automated paper mapping system.
