The study reviews the digital library thoughts of Kim Jung-gun's and their fellows to discover the developmental aspects of digital library in Korea. And I present the challenges facing digital library's development and research. Discussed are important requisites and digital library framework, and so on. In addition, included are suggestions for establishment of digital librarianship as a foundation o( research and development of digital library.

A digital library could be understood as not a part of information cycling, but whole process of information production, circulation and reproduction. This study suggests that a digital library should be a creator as which it is publishing, circulating, and re-producing the information resources. Therefore, the role of intrinsic DRM (Digital Resources Management) can be interpreted as a digital library. Open access model have been already adopted to many university libraries, many university libraries are publishing free access online research resources by themselves. Also, research collection based on cloud computing can be extended to networked research collection and share with other university libraries. These evidences show future library can be the digital library with online and open accessible publishing function.

Digital library research has attracted much attention. While many research projects are funded by government agencies and national and international bodies, some are run by specific academic and research institutions and libraries. While some digital library projects, such as the ELINOR project in the UK, the first two phases of the eLib(Electronic Libraries) programme in the UK, and the first phase of the DLI(Digital Library Initiative) in the USA, are now over, a number of other projects are currently under-way in different parts of the world. Beginning with the definitions and characteristics of digital libraries proposed by various researchers, this paper provides brief accounts of some major digital library projects that are currently in progress, or are just completed, in different parts of the world. There follows a review of digital library research under 16 major headings. Literature for this review has been identified through a search on the LISA CD-ROM database and a Dialog search on library and information science databases, and the resulting output has been supplemented by a scan of the various issues of D-Lib Magazine and Ariadne, and the Web sites of various organizations and institutions engaged in digital library research. The review indicates that we have learned a lot through digital library research within a short span of time. However, a number of issues are yet to be resolved. The paper ends with an indication of the research issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the near future in order to bring the digital library from the researcher's laboratory to the real life environment.

The study investigated the contributions of digital and media literacies to knowledge sharing among school library personnel in Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted for the study while a questionnaire was used to collect data from the 190 respondents that constitute the sample size for the study. Findings from the study revealed a high level of digital and media literacy skills possessed by the school library personnel surveyed. Producing information, evaluating digital information, and finding digital were major media and digital information literacy skills that significantly contributed to knowledge sharing among the school library personnel. The study recommended that adequate attention should be given to the development of digital and media literacies of school library personnel in Nigeria to ensure effective and efficient knowledge sharing.

Digital library technology is facing issues such as interoperability, content extension, and the need for a more efficient management environment. A system that is based on standardization and interoperability is required to resolve these issues. Open Digital Library is the system for the next generation that resolves the above problems. We have conducted some research on issues such as OAI and OAI-PMH, which are the basic knowledge behind the Open Digital Library technology and also investigated the Open Digital Library framework, cases of study and implementation of this technology. Finally, we have made some suggestions on the extendability of Open Digital Library technology using the standardized technologies.

As the foundation of the National Digital Library(NDL) by the National Library of Korea is in progress, there has been an increasing interest in developing a policy for its successful operations. Although the research and support related to building domestic library policies have been limited so far, it is an important ongoing problem to develop and improve systematic and detailed policies for information services of digital libraries in order for them to continuously advance in a rapidly changing information environment along with various issues. Therefore, through a thorough review of the literature and overseas cases related to the development of digital library policies, this research aims to provide a new direction for establishing service policies of domestic digital libraries including the NDL by extracting its critical factors and issues.

As affective barriers to library and information use, library anxiety(Mellon, 1986) has been studied in reference/information services and bibliographic instructions. The paper revisits Mellon's theory of library anxiety and Bostick's(1992) Library Anxiety Scale(LAS) in the digital library environment. In particular, this study attempts to address the inadequacy of the continued applications of LAS in the digital library environment, although the scale has been used unquestionably as the instrument measuring library anxiety. This contention was substantiated by three service trends in digital libraries(i.e., digital reference services, remote access, and transition from bibliographic instructions to information literacy) and by re-analyses of published library anxiety research papers in recent years. This study addresses the need for scale development that could measure anxieties of digital library users. It also suggests Information Literacy Anxiety Scale(ILAS) as a direction for the new scale.

The aim of this study was to analyze the research trends on the digital libraries in Korea. To achieve this objective, a total of 578 author-assigned English keywords were collected from the 272 major LIS journal articles published in Korea during last ten years-period, i.e., 2007-2016. The collected data were analyzed using NetMiner V.4 to discover their 'degree centrality' and 'betweenness centrality'. As the results, 'Academic Library', 'Reference Service', 'Public Library', 'E Resource', and 'E Book' showed the most frequently conducted research topics, and 'Academic Library', 'Reference Service', 'Information Behavior', and 'E Resource' were the most influencing research topics. Finally, 'Academic Library', 'Metadata', 'Information Behavior', 'E Resource', and 'Librarian' seemed the most widely intervening research topics in this research.
