The use of RaspberryPi in building an embedded system may be difficult for users in understanding the circuit and the hardware cost. This paper proposes a solution that can test the systems virtually. The solution consists of three elements; (i) editor, (ii) interpreter and (iii) simulator and provides nine full modules and also allows the users to configure/run/test their own circuits like real environment. The task of abstraction for modules through the actual circuit test was carried out on the basis of the data sheet and the specification provided by the manufacturer. If we can improve the level of quality of our solution, it can be useful in terms of cost reduction and easy learning. To achieve this end, the electrical physics engine, the level of interpreter that can be ported to the actual board, and a generalization of the simulation logic are required.
Various types of SW education are being operated by universities for non-major undergraduates. And most of them focus on educating computational thinking. Following this computing education, there is a need for an educational method that implements and evaluates creative computing outcomes for each student. In this paper, we propose a method to realize SW education based on creative computing artifacts. To do this, we propose an educational method for students to implement digital logic circuit devices creatively and design SW algorithms that implement the functions of their devices. The proposed training method teaches a simple LED logic circuit using an Arduino board as an example. Students creatively design and implement two pairs of two input logic circuit devices, and design algorithms that represent patterns of implemented devices in various forms. And they design the functional extension and extended algorithm using the input device. By applying the proposed method, non-major students can gain the concept and necessity of algorithm design through creative computing artifacts.
In this paper, we developed the internet-based educational software package (DVLab) for design and virtual experiment of the digital logic circuits. The DVLab consists of the LogicSim module for design and simulation of digital combinational/sequantial logic circuits, micro-controller application circuits and the BreadBoard module for virtual experiment and the Theory module for lecture and the Report/ReportChecker module and some other utility modules. All developed modules can be run as application programs as well as applets in the Internet. The LogicSim and the BreadBoard support real time clock function, output verification function on the designed circuits, trace function of logic values, copy-protection function of designed circuits and provide various devices including logic gates, TTLs, LED, buzzer, and micro-controller. The educational model of digital logic circuit design and experiment using the DVLab is also presented in this paper.
In this paper, a real-time operating Motion Picture Experts Group-1 (MPEG-1) audio encoder system is implemented using a TMS320C31 Digital Signal Processor (DSP) chip. The basic operation of the MPEG-1 audio encoder algorithm based on audio layer-2 and psychoacoustic model-1 is first verified by C-language. It is then realized using the Texas Instruments (Tl) assembly in order to reduce the overall execution time. Finally, the actual BSP circuit board for the encoder system is designed and implemented. In the system, the side-modules such as the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) control, the input/output (I/O) control, the bit-stream transmission from the DSP board to the PC and so on, are utilized with a field programmable gate array (FPGA) using very high speed hardware description language (VHDL) codes. The complete encoder system is able to process the stereo audio signal in real-time at the sampling frequency 48 kHz, and produces the encoded bit-stream with the bit-rate 192 kbps. The real-time operation capability of the encoder system and the good quality of the decoded sound are also confirmed using various types of actual stereo audio signals.

It is common to apply the technology of FPGA (Fie이 Programmable Gate Array) which is one of the design methods for ASIC(Application Specific IC)to the active components used in the data processing at the digital system of satellite aircraft missile etc for compact lightness and integration of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) In carrying out the digital data processing the FPGAs are designed for the various functions of the Process Control Interrupt Control Clock Generation Error Detection and Correction (EDAC) as the individual module. In this paper an FPGA chip for Single Error Correction and Double Error Detection (SEC-DED) for EDAC is designed and simulated by using a VLSI design software LODECAP.
We have developed a control electronics system for an infrared detector array of KASINICS (KASI Near Infrared Camera System), which is a new ground-based instrument of the Korea Astronomy and Space science Institute (KASI). Equipped with a $512{\times}512$ InSb array (ALADDIN III Quadrant, manufactured by Raytheon) sensitive from 1 to $5{\mu}m$, KASINICS will be used at J, H, Ks, and L-bands. The controller consists of DSP(Digital Signal Processor), Bias, Clock, and Video boards which are installed on a single VME-bus backplane. TMS320C6713DSP, FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array), and 384-MB SDRAM(Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory) are included in the DSP board. DSP board manages entire electronics system, generates digital clock patterns and communicates with a PC using USB 2.0 interface. The clock patterns are downloaded from a PC and stored on the FPGA. UART is used for the communication with peripherals. Video board has 4 channel ADC which converts video signal into 16-bit digital numbers. Two video boards are installed on the controller for ALADDIN array. The Bias board provides 16 dc bias voltages and the Clock board has 15 clock channels. We have also coded a DSP firmware and a test version of control software in C-language. The controller is flexible enough to operate a wide range of IR array and CCD. Operational tests of the controller have been successfully finished using a test ROIC (Read-Out Integrated Circuit).

Recently, demands on thin multi-layer printed circuit boards(PCB) have been rapidly increased with broad spread of personal portable digital appliances such as multi-media. In case of mobile phone, however, the fact that PCBs have low flexural strength might cause defects. The purpose of this study is to improve the flexural strength by substituting the well-known GFRP(glass fiber reinforced plastic) for CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastic). Firstly, finite element simulation was carried out using ABAQUS to find out a unique CFRP layer that has a role to sustain the applied forces mainly in PCB. Secondly, three point bending tests were conducted with the newly designed CFRP PCB model to verify the improvement of the flexural strength. Consequently, it is shown that PCB layered with the CFRP on both outer sides of the board can be used to improve the flexural strength effectively.

In analog and digital electronic systems, crosstalk between transmission lines on the printed circuit board can degrade the performance of equipment operations. This paper presents a technique to analyze the effects of via fence, which is based on additional transmission lines grounded by vias. The technique is composed of a circuit concept approach for transmission line sections md an impedance modeling of via hole sections. All sections are represented by ABCD parameters and they are cascaded. Finally, this technique was verified by comparing the measurement results with the simulation ones.

In this paper, we design the FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) of the CAMB (Constant-Amplitude Multi-code Biorthogonal) modulation, and implement the SoC (System on Chip). The ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) chip is be implemented through targeting and board test. This 12Mbps modem SoC includes the ARM (Advanced RISC Machine)7TDMI, 64Kbyte SRAM(Static Random Access Memory) and ADC (Analog to Digital Converter)/DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) for flexible applications. Additionally, the modem SoC can support the variable communication interfaces such as the 16-bits PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association), USB (Universal Serial Bus) 1.1, and 16C550 Compatible UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter).
Recently, the necessity of safety diagnosis of electrical devices has been increasing as the fire caused by electric devices has increased rapidly. This study is concerned with the safety diagnosis of electric equipment using intelligent Fuzzy technology. It is used as a diagnostic input for the multiple electrical safety factors such as the use current, cumulative use time, deterioration and arc characteristics inherent to the equipment. In order to extract these information in real time, a device composed of various sensor circuits, DSP signal processing, and communication circuit is implemented. The fuzzy logic algorithm using the Gaussian function for each information is designed and compiled to be implemented on a small DSP board. The fuzzy logic receives the four diagnostic information, deduces it by the fuzzy engine, and outputs the overall safety status of the device as a 100-step analog fuzzy value familiar to human sensibility. By experiments of a device that combines hardware and fuzzy algorithm implemented in this study, it is verified that it can be implemented in a small DSP board with human-friendly fuzzy value, diagnosing real-time safety conditions during operation of electric equipment. In the future, we expect to be able to study more intelligent diagnostic systems based on artificial intelligent with AI dedicated Micom.
