  • To analysis the electrokinetic phenomena in the ground dependent on the way of applied electric power, such as constant current and constant voltage, the governing equations are derived considering advection, diffusion, ionmigration, and then they were formulated using by finite difference method. The developed program is verified by comparing the tested and predicted results reported in present papers. The results indicate that the slightly small electrical potential is predicted for constant current and for constant voltage pH near to the cathode was small than the test results. But the other predictions including the final suction, pH of electrolyte and cumulative flow are similar to the test results and predictions.

  • Experiments on deactivation kinetics of immobilized lipase enzyme from Candida cyl-indracea were performed in stirred bath reactor using rice bran oil as the substrate and temperature as the deactivation parameter. The data were fitted In first order deactivation model. The effect of temperature on deactivation rate was represented by Arrhenius equation. Theoretical equations were developed based on pseudo-steady state approximation and Michaelis -Menten rate expression to predict the time course of conversion due to enzyme deactivation and apparent half-life of the immobilized enzyme activity in PFR and CSTH under constant feed rate polity for no diffusion limitation and diffusion limitation of first order. Stability of enzyme in these continuous reactors was predicted and factors affecting the stability were analyzed.

  • Superplastic forming/diffusion bonding (SPF/DB) processes were analyzed using a 3-D rigid visco-plastic finite element method. A constant-triangular element based on membrane approximation and an incremental theory of plasticity are employed for the formulation. The coulomb friction law is used for interface friction between tool and material. Pressure-time relationship for a given optimal strain rate is calculated by stress and pressure values at the previous iteration step. In order to improve the contact searching, hierarchical search algorithm has been applied and implemented into the code. Various geometries including sandwich panel and 3 sheet shape for 3-D SPF/DB model are analyzed using the developed program. The validity fer the analysis is verified by comparison between analysis and results in the literature.

  • Superplastic forming/diffusion bonding(SPF/DB) processes with inner contact were analyzed using a 3-D rigid visco-plastic finite element method. A constant-triangular element based on membrane approximation and an incremental theory of plasticity are employed for the formulation. The hierarchical search algorithm for the contact searching has been applied. The algorithms for contact force processing were designed to handle equally well contact between deformable bodies, as well as rigid bodies. The plate of three and four sheets for 3-D SPF/DB model are analyzed using the developed program. The validity for the analysis is verified by comparison between analysis, experiment and results in the literature.

  • Cobalt(Ⅲ) ion gives two step waves with $E_{1/2}$-0.1V(?)(vs.S.C.E.) and $E_{1/2}$-1.37V(vs. S.C.E.) from a base electrolyte consisting of 0.1 M TEA+sodium borate+0.0002% gelatin. The first wave results from the reduction Co(Ⅲ) to Co(Ⅱ). The second wave corresponding to the reduction Co(Ⅱ) to Co(0) and this wave is diffusion controlled. The diffusion current constant of the second wave is 2.7. Under these-conditions, diffusion current of the second wave is proportional to the concentration of Co (Ⅱ) in the range of $10^{-3}{\sim}10^{-4}$ M.

  • By using two different computer simulation methods, of which one produces exact results while the other is based on the Wilemski-Fixman closure approximation, we evaluate the utility of closure approximation in calculating the rates of diffusion-controlled reactions involving a reactant with multiple reaction sites. We find that errors in the estimates of steady-state rate constants due to closure approximation are not so large. We thus propose an approximate analytic expression for the rate constant based on the closure approximation.

  • The effect of copper sulfate/thiourea on the diffusion and the dye exhaustion of two dyes, C. I. Acid Orange 7 and C. I. Food Yellow 3 in nylon 6 fiber has been studied. The results obtained from the experimetal are as follows : 1) Copper sulfate reacted with thiourea at constant temperature and then generated the colorless trasparent coordination compound, and then combinated end group of carboxyl of nylon 6 fiber. 2) The coordination compound [$Cu_{2}$($TU_{6}$)] ($(SO_{4})_2$) is conducted at pH 5-6 in solution intensity and repulsed the sulfonic acid group of dyes, and therefore the diffusion of dyes is restraint. 3) Dye uptake and diffusion coefficient were decreased in the order of untreated > copper sulfate/thiourea-treated > tannin-treated.

  • The dependence of sulfur redox behavior and its diffusivity on temperature and composition was studied in mixed alkali silicate melts by means of square wave voltammetry (SWV) at different frequencies in a temperature range of $1000^{\circ}C$ to $1400^{\circ}C$. The voltammograms showed two reduction peaks at high frequency but only one peak at low frequency. Irrespective of $K_2O/(Na_2O+K_2O)$, each peak potential due to reduction of $S^{6+}$ to $S^{4+}$ and $S^{4+}$ to $S^0$ moved toward a negative direction with temperature decrease, and the peak current showed a strong dependence on frequency at a constant temperature. However, the compositional dependence of the peak potential showed an inconsistent behavior with an increase of $K_2O$. The mixed alkali effect was not observed in sulfur diffusion. This inconsistency of both peak potential and diffusion for compositional dependence may be derived from the strong volatilization of sulfur in melts.

  • The synthesis of poly(ether)tailed bipyridine complex as redox reaction probes has advanced attempts to interpret very slow diffusion and heterogeneous electron transfer. Diffusion coefficients as low as $1.5{\times}10^{-15}cm^2/s$ have been observed for the oxidation of neat $Co(bpy(ppgm)_2)_{3^-}(ClO_4)_2$ with $LiClO_4$ electrolyte. Heterogeneous electron transfer rate constants of materials were found to vary with diffusion coefficient. The decrease in k as the diffusion coefficient decreases was actually caused by the decreasing D. Diffusion coefficient for compound of strong ion pairing anion($ClO{_4}^-$) was much smaller than the diffusion coefficient for compound of weak ion pairing anion($CF_3COO^-$).
