  • Current group key agreement protocols(often tree-based) involve unnecessary delays because members with low-performance computer systems can join group key computation. These delays are caused by the computations needed to balance a key tree after membership changes. An alternate approach to group key generation that reduces delays is the dynamic prioritizing mechanism of filtering low performance members in group key generation. This paper presents an efficient tree-based group key agreement protocol and the results of its performance evaluation. The proposed approach to filtering of low performance members in group key generation is scalable and it requires less computational overhead than conventional tree-based protocols.

  • Key exposure is a major threat to secure cryptosystems. To mitigate the impact caused by key-compromise attacks, a key-insulated cryptographic mechanism is a better alternative. For securing the large message communication in peer-to-peer networks, in this paper, we propose the first novel identity-based key-insulated encryption (IB-KIE) scheme with message linkages. Our scheme has the properties of unbounded time periods and random-access key-updates. In the proposed scheme, each client can periodically update his private key while the corresponding public one remains unchanged. The essential security assumption of our proposed scheme is based on the well-known bilinear Diffie-Hellman problem (BDHP). To ensure the practical feasibility, we also formally prove that the proposed scheme achieves the security requirement of confidentiality against indistinguishability under adaptive chosen-ciphertext attacks (IND-CCA2) in the random oracle model.

  • A group key exchange protocol is a cryptographic primitive that describes how a group of parties communicating over a public network can come up with a common secret key. Due to its significance both in network security and cryptography, the design of secure and efficient group key exchange protocols has attracted many researchers' attention over the years. However, despite all the efforts undertaken, there seems to have been no previous systematic look at the growing problem of key exchange over combined wired and wireless networks which consist of both stationary computers with sufficient computational capabilities and mobile devices with relatively restricted computing resources. In this paper, we present the first group key exchange protocol that is specifically designed to be well suited for this rapidly expanding network environment. Our construction meets simplicity, efficiency, and strong notions of security.

  • In traditional digital signature schemes, certificates signed by a trusted party are required to ensure the authenticity of the public key. In Asiacrypt 2003, the concept of certificateless signature scheme was introduced. The advantage of certificateless public key cryptography successfully eliminates the necessity of certificates in the traditional public key cryptography and simultaneously solves the inherent key escrow problem suffered in identity-based cryptography. Recently, Yap et al. proposed an efficient certificateless signature scheme and claimed that their scheme is existentially unforgeable in the random oracle model. In this paper, we show that the certificateless signature scheme proposed by Yap et al. is insecure against public key replacement attacks. Furthermore, we propose an improved certificateless signature scheme, which is existentially unforgeable against adaptive chosen message attacks under the computational Diffie-Hellman assumption in the random oracle model and provide the security proof of the proposed scheme.

  • Authenticated multiple key agreement (AMKA) protocols provide participants with multiple session keys after one round of authentication. Many schemes use Diffie-Hellman or authenticated key agreement schemes that rely on hard integer factorizations that are vulnerable to quantum algorithms. Lattice cryptography provides quantum resistance to authenticated key agreement protocols, but the certificate always incurs excessive public key infrastructure management overhead. Thus, a lightweight lattice-based secure system is needed that removes this overhead. To answer this need, we provide a two-party lattice- and identity-based AMKA scheme based on bilateral short integer or computational bilateral inhomogeneous small integer solutions, and we provide a security proof based on the random oracle model. Compared with existing AMKA protocols, our new protocol has higher efficiency and stronger security.

본 논문에서는 이러한 패스워드 기반의 키 분배 프로토콜 중 BPKA(Balanced Password-authenticated Key Agreement)에 속하는 DH-EKE(Diffie-Hellman Encrypted Key Exchange), PAK(Password-Authenticated Key exchange), SPEKE(Simple Password Exponential Key Exchange) 프로토콜을 비교 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 기존의 BPKA 프로토콜에 비해 적은 연산량을 가지면서 사용자와 서버가 각기 다른 정보를 갖는 패스워드-검증자 기반 프로토콜을 제안한다.
