This paper deals with flexural vibration techniques as a means of predicting bending strength properties for quarter-sawn and flat-sawn planes of red pine containing knots. Dynamic modulus of elasticity $(MOE_d)$ was calculated from resonance frequency obtained from the flexural vibration induced by a magnetic driver in quarter-sawn and flat-sawn planes of red pine containing knots. The dynamic MOE were well correlated to bending strength properties. Their correlation coefficients ranged from 0.866 to 0.800 for the regression between dynamic MOE and static bending MOE or MOR. The difference of the values between quarter-sawn and flat-sawn was very small. These values were higher than correlation between percentage of total knot diameter to total width of red pine specimen $(K_T(%))$ as well as $K_O(%)$ base upon ASTM D 3737 and static bending strength properties (correlation coefficient r = 0.448~0.704), and were similar to those between static bending MOE and bending MOR (r = 0.850). These results indicate that dynamic MOE obtained from resonance frequency induced by flexural vibration of magnetic driver is able to effectively use for predicting of static bending strength of red pine containing knots as well as static MOE.
The shock vibration such as machine vibration, blasting vibration etc. has effect on nearby structure as well as human body. The purpose of this study is to predict allowable limit distance of vibration about human body. First of all, vibration velocity such as PPV, PVS was measured by shock vibration experiment, and vibration level was calculated by conversion formula of vibration velocity. And then, allowable limit distance was analyzed by converted vibration level. The results are as follows : Firstly, the correlation coefficient of converted vibration level was over R=0.94, and vibration level caused by PVS was usually represented to high curve line. Secondly, the cross point of vibration level between ground and concrete condition was represented to 66.68dB(V), and allowable limit distance was represented to difference over three times when vibration regulation was raised from 65dB(V) to 80dB(V).
Experimental isotherm compressive tests show that concrete behaviour is dependent on temperature. The aim of such tests is to reproduce how concrete will behave under environmental changes within a moderate range of temperature. In this paper, a novel constitutive elastic damage behaviour law is proposed based on a free energy with an apparent damage depending on temperature. The proposed constitutive behaviour leads to classical theory of thermo-elasticity at small strains. Fixed elastic mechanical characteristics and fixed evolution law of damage independent of temperature and the material volume element size are considered. This approach is applied to compressive tests. The model predicts compressive strength and secant modulus of elasticity decrease as temperature increases. A power scaling law is assumed for specific entropy as function of the specimen size which leads to a volume size effect on the stress-strain compressive behaviour. The proposed model reproduces theoretical and experimental results from literature for tempertaures ranging between $20^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$. The effect of the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion between the mortar and coarse aggregates is also considered which gives a better agreement with FIB recommendations. It is shown that this effect is of a second order in the considered moderate range of temperature.

Purpose Standardized uptake value(SUV) has been widely used as a quantitative metric of uptake in PET/CT for diagnosis of malignant tumors and evaluation of tumor therapy response. However, the SUV depends on various factor including PET/CT scanner specifications and reconstruction parameter. The purpose of this study is to validate a EQ PET to evaluate SUV across different PET/CT systems. Materials and Methods First, NEMA IEC body phantom data were used to calculate the EQ filter for OSEM3D with PSF and TOF reconstruction from three different PET/CT systems in order to obtain EARL compliant recovery coefficients of each spheres. The Biograph true point 40 PET/CT images were reconstructed with a OSEM3D+PSF reconstruction, images of the Biograph mCT 40 and Biograph mCT 64 PET/CT scanners were reconstructed with a OSEM3D+PSF, OSEM3D+TOF, OSEM3D+PSF+TOF. Post reconstructions, the proprietary EQ filter was applied to the reconstruction data. Recovery coefficient can be estimated by ratio of measured to true activity concentration for spheres of different volume and coefficient variability(CV) value of RC for each sphere was compared. For clinical study, we compared SUVmax applying different reconstruction algorithms in FDG PET images of 61 patients with lung cancer using Biograph mCT 40 PET/CT scanner. Results For the phantom studied, the mean values of CV for OSEM3D, OSEM3D+PSF, OSEM3D+TOF and OSEM3D+PSF+TOF reconstructions were 0.05, 0.04, 0.04 and 0.03 respectively for RC. Application of the proprietary EQ filter, the mean values of CV for OSEM3D, OSEM3D+PSF, OSEM3D+TOF and OSEM3D+PSF+TOF reconstructions were 0.04, 0.03, 0.03 and 0.02 respectively for RC. Clinical study, there were no statistical significance of the difference applying EQ PET on SUVmax of 61 patients FDG PET image. (p=1.000) Conclusion This study indicates that CV values of RC in phantom were decreased after applying EQ PET for different PET/CT system and The EQ PET reduced reconstruction dependent variation in SUVs for 61 lung cancer patients, Therefore, EQ PET will be expected to provide accurate quantification when the patient is scanned on different PET/CT system.
The estimation of beam radiation intensity on a tilted surface is very important to the design of a solar energy system. In order to get the beam radiation intensity, it is required to calculate the ratio of the diffuse solar radiation to the global radiation ($k_d$). The data measured at Chung-Buk National University. Cheong-ju, (from May 16, 1985 to Nov, 10, 1987) were analysed to define the relationship between hourly clearness index ($k_t$) and diffuse ratio ($t_d$). The results are is follow: 1. The percent of clearness index($k_t$) of less than 0.3 and of more than 0.8 were 2.7% and 3.1% respectively, and between 0.5 and 0.8 was 76.5%. 2. The regression equation between $k_t$ and $k_d$ was an exponential function as: $$k_d=\[{1\hspace{120}:\hspace{10}(k_t<0.1)\\1.28{\times}0.074^{k_t}\hspace{30}:\hspace{10}(0.1{\leq}=k_t<0.9)\\0.12\hspace{98}:\hspace{10}(0.9{\leq}=k_t)$$ There was a little difference between the result. of this study based on the data of 30 months and the results of previous study (ITRA 2(1):42-47, 1986.) based on the data of 8 months. 3. The hourly exponential regression equation between $k_t$ and $k_d$ was $k_d=A{\times}8^{k_t}$ and the values of constant A and coefficient B of the: equations are as the following table; 4. The percent of $k_d$ of less than 0.4 was 72.9% and of more than 0.7 was 6.6%. 5. Total mean value of $k_t$ and $k_d$ wert 0.56 and 0.32, respectively. From 10:00 to 15:00 o'clock the total mean value of $k_t$ was smaller that the hourly man value of $k_t$ and the one or $k_d$ larger.

Background: Infrared Thermal Imaging (ITI) is an effective tool for the diagnosis of disease and evaluation of the therapeutic effects following pain treatment. Patients who were treated for pain in pain clinic described the intensity of pain and the degree of change of their pain using a visual analogue scale (VAS). In this study, the usefulness of ITI following multimodal methods for pain management were compared with the change of VAS. Methods: 1119 patients were evaluated. The patients were treated with stellate ganglion block, epidural block or trigger points injection. Before treatment, the temperature difference (${\Delta}T$) of the involved area and the corresponding area on the opposite side of the body was measured using ITI and VAS was assessed. After treatment, the temperature difference (${\Delta}T$) between the normal and involved areas, the change of ${\Delta}T$ (${\Delta}dT$), VAS and the change of VAS (${\Delta}VAS$) were measured. Statistic correlations between ${\Delta}dT$and ${\Delta}VAS$ were calculated in all groups. Results: Correlation of the ${\Delta}dT$ and ${\Delta}VAS$ was significant by contingency coefficient test. (SGB group, C = 0.358, Epi group, C = 0.377, TPI group, C = 0.374, P < 0.05) Conclusions: ITI is a reliable tool for the assessment of therapeutic effects following multidimensional management of painful disease.
Statement of problem: When an implant is fixed, a fixture comes into contact with a tissue fluid. Adhesion of a tissue fluid to a surface of implant is various case by case. Purpose: The ultimate goal of this work is to analyze a correlation between a surface roughness and wettability of implant specimens. A measurement for wettability is performed considering 4 types of specimen implant with surface treatments different from each other to investigate the change of wettability with the elapse of time. Material and methods: Firstly, 20 specimens of titanium were prepared. The specimen were made of a commercial Titanium Grade IV with the diameter of 10 mm and the thickness of 1 mm. According to the method of surface treatment, the specimens were classified into 4 groups of 5 specimens per group. Group A: Machined Surface Group B: Anodized surface Group C: RBM (HA blasting) surface Group D: CMP (calcium methaphosphate) coating surface. Surface roughness of specimen was measured using SV-3000S4 (Mituyoto, Japan). The measurement was based on the standard of JIS1994. Sessile drop method was used to measure the wettability, which measures contact angle between implant disc and saline with the time interval of 5, 10, and 15 seconds. SPSS 11.0 was used to analyze the collected data. In order to analyze the difference of wettability and surface roughness according to implant surface treatment method. The statistical significance was tested with the confidence level of 95%. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to evaluate the correlation of surface roughness and wettability. Results: The difference of surface roughness was statistically significant in the order of Group C ($1.69{\pm}0.26$), Group D ($1.58{\pm}0.16$), Group B ($0.78{\pm}0.14$) Group A ($0.18{\pm}0.05$). The wettability has also a statistically significant difference, which was in the order of group B ($17.70{\pm}2.66$), Group C ($27.86{\pm}4.52$), Group D ($66.28{\pm}3.70$) Group A ($70.52{\pm}8.00$). There was no difference in wettability with the passage of time. Conclusions: 1. The surface roughness was high in the order of RBM, CMP, Anodized, Machined group (P<.05). 2. The wettability was high in the order of Anodized, RBM, CMP, Machined group (P<.05). 3. There was no statistical significance in the correlation of surface roughness and wettability.

Analyzing electromagnetic properties in plasma medium, it is difficult to numerically solve electromagnetic problem with thin plasma. In this paper, subcell Maxwell-Boltzmann FDTD method was proposed which is combined with Maxwell-Boltzmann FDTD and subcell FDTD method for analyzing plasma and electrically thin materials, respectively. Calculations of reflection coefficient and absorption rate error were performed by using 1D FDTD method. Reflection coefficient computed by applying the proposed method is in agreement with analytic solution. Absorption rate error analyzed by employing the proposed method is 1/10 times less than one by using conventional method.
This research collected the curriculum for Dental Technology from a total of 20 schools -3-year colleges and 4-year colleges- all in Korea. And we analyzed the average credits of subjects from students. As a result of this analysis, we get the conclusion below: 1. In a distribution which students answered about each subjects; Seminar, Dental morphology I II, Dental morphology practice I II, and Dental devices & instruments don't have many credits and mostly have a converged tendency in high points, according to the arithmetic mean of the major basis subjects. 2. In an analysis of the correlation which is based on the distinction of sex: Complete denture prosthodontics I II III, Dental orthodontics I II, Dental orthodontics practice I II, and Dental orthodontics & practice III have a meaningful difference. ($\rho$< 0.05 ) 3. In an analysis of the correlation which is based on an age The major basis subjects -Introduction to dental technology, Dental esthetic, and Dental casting procedure-, and the major application subjects -Crown and bridge prosthodontics practice, Complete denture prosthodontics, Dental orthodontics, Dental orthodontics practice, and Operative dentistry laboratory technology- have meaningful difference. ($\rho$< 0.05 ) 4. In a correlation coefficient between subjects; The correlation coefficient of the major application subjects is higher than the major basis subjects. According to the student - t, we found that the level of significance is $\rho$< 0.001, which is meaningful. We feel the lack of a limitation which we didn't survey all students who are major in Department of Dental Technology. And we also feel that we'd better to consider not only students who being in college but also graduated students.
