이유체 노즐 미립화 특성이 요소 열분해에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Atomization Characteristics of Twin Fluid Nozzle on Urea Pyrolysis)

  • Recently, there has been rising interest in applying urea-SCR systems to large marine diesel engines because the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has decided to enforce NOx reduction regulations. Generally, in the case of urea-SCR of the marine diesel engine, a type of twin fluid atomizer has been using for injection of the urea solution. This study conducted to investigate an effect of the atomization of external-mixing twin fluid nozzle on the conversion efficiency of reductant. The lab-scaled experiment device was installed to mimic the urea-SCR system of the marine diesel engine for this study. In a low temperature inflow gas condition which is similar with the exhaust temperature of large marine diesel engine, this study found that the conversion efficiency of reductant of when relative big size urea solution droplets are injected into exhaust gas stream can be larger than that of when small size urea solution droplets are injected. According to results of this study, the reason was associated with decrease of reaction rate constant caused from temperature drop of inflow gas by assist air of twin fluid atomizer.

  • Spray characteristics of diesel fuel injection is one of the most important factors in diesel combustion and pollutant emissions especially in HSDI (High Speed Direct Injection) diesel engines where the interval between the onset of combustion and the evaporation of atomized fuel is relatively short, An investigation into various spray characteristics from different holes of VCO(Valve Covered Orifice) nozzles was performed and its results were compared to standard sac nozzle. The global characteristics of spray, including spray angle, spray tip penetration, and spray pattern were measured from the spray images which were frozen by an instantaneous photography with a spark light source. For better understanding of spray behavior, SMD of the fuel sprays from multi hole nozzles were measured with back light imaging while the sprays from the other holes are covered by a purpose-built nozzle cap. The investigation manifestly reveals the different spray patterns at the beginning of injection produced by VCO nozzles can be identified as three distinct types with their own macroscopic and microscopic characteristics, while macroscopic non-uniformity disappears at 0.9∼1.0ms from the start of injection.

  • The purpose of this work is to investigate the effect of properties of diesel and biodiesel fuels on the nozzle cavitation and the effect of the length/diameter(L/D) ratio on internal and external flow pattern of nozzle at the various injection conditions. In order to study the effect of the L/D ratio on the nozzle cavitation characteristics of diesel and biodiesel, the characteristics of cavitation flow in the nozzle are visualized and analyzed at the injection pressure of 0.1 MPa to 0.7 MPa by using the visualized images. It was founded that the cavitation was formed in the nozzle orifice at the low injection pressure and the breakup of the issuing liquid jet was promoted at the low L/D ratio. When the L/D ratio decrease, cavitation beginning and growth were affect by cavitation number and Reynolds number.

  • In this paper, in order to spray diesel fuel, multilayer actuator structured-ultrasonic nozzle and resonant inverter were manufactured. Multilayer actuator structured-ultrasonic nozzle as fabricated using PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics showing excellent piezoelectric characteristics. Its electrical and temperature properties were measured for investigating he applicability of stable ultrasonic nozle for spraying diesel fuel.

  • Experimental investigation of unsteady impinging diesel spray on the flat plate have been carried out using high speed camera and Malvern system. The density ratios of ambient gas to diesel fuel were varied using $N_2$ and Ar gas in the case of 14.9, 21.2, 28.4, 35.1, 40.4, and 50.1. With the increase of gas density ratio, the radial penetration is decreased due to the resistance of the ambient gas. With the increase of the gas density ratio and the distance between nozzle tip and flat plate, the height of spray is increased due to the entrance and circulation. With the increase of gas density ratio, SMD is decreased on the nearby position at the center of flat plate, but SMD is increased on the far position. As the distance between nozzle tip and flat plate is increased, SMD is always decreased.

  • The characteristics of engine performance with fuel injection system in D.I. diesel engine were studied in this paper. A fuel injection system has an important role in the performance and emission gas in a diesel engine. In this paper, an experimental study has been performed to verify the effect of the performance and the emission gas with the factors such as diameters of an injection nozzle hole, diameters of an injection pipe and injection timing in the fuel injection system. The authors have obtained the results that optimizing the factors of fuel injection system is significant to enhance the performance of the engine system and consumption ratio of fuel, smoke, and NOx.

  • An aerodynamic design for centrifugal compressor which was applied to medium speed diesel engine has done. First of all, exact compressor specifications must be defined by accurate engine system matching. This matching program has been developed. Using the mean1ine prediction method, geometric design and performance curve for compressor was done and verified by comparing three dimensional viscous CFD results. The deviation at the design point was about 2.3%. Combustor has been designed and manufactured for the performance test of medium speed diesel engine turbocharger. Fuel nozzle of combustor was designed and performed by PIV and PDPA test equipment. Through these results, spray characteristics were studied and flow coefficient equation was deduced.

증발디젤분무의 거동특성해석을 위한 계산기법 적용에 관한 기초 연구 (Basic Study on the Application of a Computational Technique to Behavior Characteristics Analysis of the Evaporative Diesel Spray)

  • In this study, an analysis of evaporative diesel spray and an usefulness of a general-purpose program, ANSYS CFX release 11.0, are investigated through the comparison and investigation of the experimental results carried out under an evaporative field, in which there is phase transition, by an exciplex fluorescence method and the results analyzed by the CFX program. The diesel fuel called n-Tridecane, $C_{13}H_{28}$, is injected from a single-hole nozzle (l/d=1.0mm/0.2mm) into a constant volume chamber under a high temperature and pressure. In the same condition as the experimental condition, the analysis was carried out. Both results of the spray tip penetration were almost coincident at each time. The results have validated the usefulness of this analysis. As a result, if the ambient pressure is high, the spray tip penetration will be shortened and move toward the nozzle exit.

  • 국제기구 및 각국의 정부는 인간의 건강 및 환경을 보호하기 위해 선박의 배기가스 규제를 엄격히 적용하고 있다. 함정은 이러한 배기가스 규제 적용 대상에서 제외되고 있지만 최근 미국, 영국 등 일부 선진국에서는 함정으로 야기되는 대기환경오염을 방지하기 위해 전기추진체계 시스템을 도입하는 등 다양한 개선 방법을 적용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 함정용 디젤엔진의 매연 발생 문제 해결을 위해 노즐 직경을 축소 변화시키고 분사압력을 증가시켜 배기가스 발생량 측정과 오염물질조사 방법론을 이용해 저부하시 매연 문제가 개선된 것을 확인하였다. 동시에 그 영향을 유량방정식과 함정시험평가서를 통해 노즐 직경 축소 결과 연료 소비량이 감소되는 것을 확인하였다.

  • The spray characteristics of a direct injection multi-hole diesel nozzle having the 2-spring nozzle holder were investigated by using the image processing system and a PDPA(phase Bowler particle analyzer) system. The spray tip penetration, the spray angle, and the droplet diameter and velocity with the variation of the pump speed, injection quantity were measured. From, the experiments, we know that there are small droplets which are not to be detected with spray image around the leading edge of the spray. In order to represent the mean characteristics of the intermittent spray very well, it is very important to set the time windows accurately. From the measurements along the axis of the spray, close to the nozzle, the initially injected droplets are overtaken by droplets that follow them. And also there are the maximum axial mean velocity and SMD at the following part of the leading edge of the spray.
