Thermal, Dielectric Properties Characteristics of Epoxy-nanocomposites for Organoclay of Several Types (여러종류의 Organoclay에 대한 에폭시-나노콤포지트의 열적, 유전특성에 관한 연구)

  • Nanostructured materials are attracting increased interest and application. Exciting perspectives may be offered by electrical insulation. Epoxy/Organoclay nanocomposites may find new and upgraded applications in the electrical industry, replacing conventional insulation to provide improved performances in electric power apparatus, e.g, high voltage motor/generator stator winding insulation, dry mold transformer, etc. In the paper work, the electrical and thermal properties of epoxy/organoclay nanocomposites materials were studied. The electrical insulation characteristics were analyzed through the permittivity characteristics. by analyzing the permittivity spectra, it was found that dielectric constant becomes smaller with increase frequency and becomes larger with increase temperature. This indicates restriction of molecular motion and strong bonds at the epoxy/organoclay nanocomposites. The morphology of nanocomposites obtained was examined using TEM and X-ray diffraction. It has been shown that the presence of polar groups leads to an increased gallery distance and partial exfoliation. Nevertheless, full exfoliation of clay platelets has not been achieved.

  • KAM200 which can be used electroluminescence binder is cyano material. In this study, we have fabricated KAM200 thin film by Spin-Coating method. And we have studied the electical properties of KAM200 thin films. In the I-V characteristics, the current decreases as the voltage overflow definite voltage immediately. And that definite voltage depend on thickness of KAM200 material. In the case of thickness is 1.9[$\mu\textrm{m}$], definite voltage is 7[V]. And that's electrical field 3.86[MV/m]. The dielectric properties of KAM200 thin film is investigated by measuring dielectric dispersion and absorption. KAM200's Relative dielectric constant is 10.25, and it has high permittivity compared with different materials.

  • In this paper, An inversion technique to reconstruct permittivity profiles of 2-D inhomogeneous dielectric objects by iterativeprocess using the moment-methodand improved newton's algoritham is presented. In order to reduce the noise effect in the scattered fieldon the reconstructed permittivity profiles, the cell size of inversescattering is made be larger than that of forward scattering. Performing numerical calculations of dielectric scatterer it is demonstrated that this inversion is able to reconstruct dielectric objectshaving large size and inhomogeneous characteristics, which is insentive tothe noise effect in the scattered field on the reconstructed result.

This study aims at realization of food insecticidal apparatus using dielectric heating. Equipment to measure grain's permittivity or vermin's permittivity and expectation for heating temperature by computer simulation is necessary for construction of the system. And the effect of extermination of vermin for food was confirmed by experiment using the system.

Design and Fabrication of Thin Microwave Absorbers of ITO/Dielectric Structures Used for Mobile Telecommunication Frequency Bands (ITO박막/세라믹유전체 구조의 이동통신 주파수대역용 박형 전파흡수체의 설계 및 제조)

  • For the aim of thin microwave absorbers used in mobile telecommunication frequency band, this study proposed a high permittivity dielectrics(λ/4 spacer) coated with ITO thin films of 377 $\Omega$/sq(impedance transformer). High frequency dielectric properties of ferroelectric ceramics, electrical properties of ITO thin films and microwave absorbing properties of ITO/dielectrics were investigated. Ferroelectric materials including $BaTiO_3$(BT), 0.9Pb($Mg_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)$O_3$-0.1 $PbTiO_3$(PMN-PT), 0.8 Pb (Mg$_{1}$3/$Nb_{2}$3/)$O_3$-0.2 Pb($Zn_{1}$3$_Nb{2}$3/)$O_3$(PMN-PZN) were prepared by ceramic processing for high permittivity dielectrics,. The ferroelectric materials show high dielectric constant and dielectric loss in the microwave frequency range. The microwave absorbance (at 2 ㎓) of BT, 0.9PMN-0.1PT, and 0.8PMN-0.2PZN were found to be 60%(at a thickness of 3.5 mm), 20% (2.5 mm), and 30% (2.5 mm), respectively. By coating the ITO thin films on the ferroelectric substrates with λ/4 thickness, the microwave absorbance is greatly improved. Particularly, when the surface resistance of ITO films is closed of 377 $\Omega$/sq, the reflection loss is reduced to -20 ㏈(99% absorbance). This is attributed to the wave impedance matching controlled by ITO thin films at a given thickness of high permittivity dielectrics of λ/4 (3.5 mm for BT, 2.5 mm for PMN-PT and PMN-PZN at 2 ㎓). It is, therefore, successfully proposed that the ITO/ferroelectric materials with controlled surface resistance and high dielectric constant can be useful as a thin microwave absorbers in mobile telecommunication frequency band.

  • Materials used at microwave are usually used as a dielectric with a manufacturing purpose of printed circuit boards, etc. Complex permittivity of them can be measured from attenuation constant or propagation constant of a transmission line using a microstrip line with bulk type. But as the technique recently which can manufacture to have complex permittivity and permeability demanded using nonferrous metals for powder-type grows up, we need sensors and methods which can measure characteristics of powder-type materials. So far measuring methods of permittivity and permeability with waveguide or coaxial cable are used but they have faults which have a complex measurement method and are difficult to simultaneously measure permittivity and permeability. In this paper, a simultaneous measuring method of permittivity and permeability with 2-port coaxial cable and a new proposed calculation. The proposed 2-port coaxial cable is designed to be easy to insert materials and to have a wideband. We measure permittivity and permeability of magnetic powder(Ni-Fe-Mo, Ni-Fe) which reveal its characteristic at $0.3{\sim}1.3GHz$ to identify the proposed sensor.

  • Characterizing the electromagnetic properties of concrete is essential to the enhancement of accuracy and reliability in nondestructive testing of concrete structures using electromagnetic techniques. To establish a data base for the properties of concrete, a measurement technique has been developed and a set of data has been obtained for the frequency range of 1~6 GHz. As moisture content is one of major contributing factors to determine permittivity of dielectric material, moisture content is varied during the measurement. An application of a measurement system which consists of open-ended coaxial probe and automatic network analyzer to concrete and mortar specimens is studied. For this, calibration techniques, size of specimens, and number of measurements necessary to obtain reliable data are investigated. From the measured data, it is shown that moisture content plays an important role to determine the permittivity of specimens. As the moisture content increases. The permittivity of specimens show tendency to approach the permittivity of water.

Study of Dielectric Properties of a Potential RBD Palm Oil and RBD Soybean Oil Mixture as Insulating Liquid in Transformer

  • This paper reported the experimental result of dielectric properties of Refined, Bleached and Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO) combined with 0-50% of Refined, Bleached and Deodorized Soybean Oil (RBDSO). The dielectric strength and relative permittivity of RBDPO/RBDSO was higher compared to mineral oil at all ranges of ratios and temperatures which indicated a positive sign for its possible use as insulating liquid in a transformer. All ratios of the RBDPO/RBDSO mixture also demonstrated lower dissipation factor compared to mineral oil at 40℃, 70℃ and 90℃. Apart from that, the kinematic viscosity for the oil mixtures shown exceeded the IEC 60296 as well as the mineral oil results. 70%RBDPO/30%RBDSO mixture ratio was chosen as the best mixing percentage after comparison was made with the mineral oil and IEC 60296 standard where the mixture accumulated the most satisfactory of dielectric properties hence making it as the potential candidate for palm and soybean-based transformer oil.

  • Measurement factors for the dielectric properties of low dielectric loss materials (tan${\dalta}{\le}10^{-4}$) were investigated using the dielectric rod resonator method. It was shown that the relative conductivity (${\sigma}_{r}$) should be controlled within a 5% to obtain the standard deviations of less than 0.07 for permittivity .epsilon.r and 0.06${\times}10^{-4}$ for tan.delta.respectively. Surface resistivity (R$_s$) could be reduced when the surface roughness of parallelled conducting plate was less than 0.07 .mu.m. Measurement error for the permittivity was $\pm$0.02% independent of probe loop size, whereas the error in Q value was reduced with the decrease in probe loop size and also with the increase in the absolute values of Q. Reliable Q values were determined with the probe loop size of less than 4mm. The accurate for the distance between the measuring probe loop and the sample could be obtained when the insertion loss of resonant frequency ranged -15dB - -30dB.
