Axial-ratio (AR) bandwidth enhancement is achieved for a circularly polarized (CP) cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) using a wideband hybrid coupler (WHC) combined with dual probe feed. The presented WHC, comprised of a Wilkinson power divider and a wideband $90^{\circ}$ shifter, delivers good characteristics in terms of 3 dB power splitting and consistent $90^{\circ}$ (${\pm}5^{\circ}$) phase shifting over a wide bandwidth. In turn, the proposed CP DRA, for the employment of the WHC, in place of conventional designs, provides a significant enhancement on AR bandwidth and impedance matching. The antenna prototype with the WHC exhibits a 3 dB AR bandwidth of 48.66%, an impedance bandwidth of 52.5% for voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) ${\leq}2$, and a bandwidth of 44.66% for a gain of no less than 3 dBi. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed WHC is suitable for broadband CP DRA design.
A new feeding method for the circular polarization (CP) dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is proposed in this letter. Two orthogonal modes (${TE^x}_{{\delta}11}$, ${TE^y}_{1{\delta}1$) of the rectangular DRA are excited by a $90^{\circ}$ phase difference of the differential and common modes currents of the proposed feeding structure. To demonstrate the good CP performance of the proposed method, a right-hand CP DRA for a global positioning system was designed. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna for $S_{11}$ < -10 dB and 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth are about 5.4% and 1.95% at 1.57 GHz, respectively.

In this paper, we proposed the dual-mode stepped impedance ring resonator bandpass filter for MMIC (Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuit) applications using the dielectric-supported air-gapped microstrip line (DAML). The ring resonator fabricated by surface micromachining technology. This filter consists of a DAML resonator layer and a CPW feed line. The DAML ring resonator is elevated with $10{\mu}m$ height from GaAs substrate surface. This bandpass filter is $1-{\lambda}g$ type stepped impedance ring resonator including dual-mode resonance. From the measurements, we obtained attenuation of over 15 dB and insertion loss of 2.65 dB at the center frequency of 97 GHz. Relative bandwidth is about 12 % at 97 GHz. Furthermore, the proposed bandpass filter is useful to integrate with conventional MMICs.

In this paper, dielectric slab loaded cylindrical cavity resonator measurement technique is presented to determine the dielectric constant of a dielectric material. The dielectric constant is measured by the resonant frequency deviation of empty and dielectric slab loaded cavity. Characteristic equations are derived by th exact field analysis. The measurement configurations are formed using HP8719A vector network analyzer and an experimental cylindrical metallic cavity with circular cross-section. The validity of the theory is confirmed by experiments and CST MWS 4.0(3D simulator). The results were in the whole satisfactory. The measured dielectric constant of teflon and bakelite are 2.03 and 4.44, respectively.

This paper describes measurement method of dielectric properties of dielectric materials using cylindrical cavity resonator's. Dielectric properties of concern here are relative permittivity, loss- tangent, quality factor and so on. An analysis of $TE_{011}$mode in dielectric properties of concentric dielectric-rod inserted cylindrical cavity resonator is presented. The frequency variation by the air gap at $TE_{011}$ mode turns out to be the least sensitive. A technique using a $TE_{011}$ mode of concentric dielectric-rod inserted cylindrical cavity resonator and an exact field representation of neo non-decaying mode are introduced for measurement of dielectric properties.
TE$_{01\;{\delta}}$ mode Cavity Resonators with a low loss dielectric rod and YBa$_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ (YBCO) endplates were prepared and their microwave properties were studied at temperatures above 30 K. Both sapphire and rutile were used as the dielectrics. The TE$_{01\;{\delta}}$ mode Q$_0$ of the resonator, designed to work as a tunable resonator with variations in the gap distance (s) between the dielectric rod and the top YBCO, was more than 1000000 at s = 0 mm and at 30 K and .the resonant frequency of 19.56GHz when a sapphire rod was used for the dielectric. The TE$_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ mode resonant frequency (f$_0$) appeared to decrease as the temperature is raised. Meanwhile, the temperature dependence of the TE$_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ mode f$_0$ of the rutile-loaded resonator appeared different with f$_0$ increasing according to the temperature and Q$_0$ more than 300000 at 30 K and f$_0$ = 8.56 CHz. Comparisons were made between the microwave properties of the sapphire-loaded and the rutile-loaded resonators. Also, applications of the TE$_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ mode cavity resonator for a tunable resonator with a very high Q$_0$ as · well as a characterization tool for surface resistance measurements of HTS films are described.

This paper introduces a new type push-push harmonic dielectric resonator oscillator. Proposed oscillators are utilized by HDRO(Harmonic Dielectric Resonator Oscillator) which are combined in push-push structure. As a result, fundamental signal suppression ratio and output power of harmonic signal has been improved. The increase of phase noise is compensated by improving coupling characteristic between resonator and parallel microstrip line. The proposed push-push HDRO shows the output power of 9.32 dBm, the fundamental signal suppression of -47.2 dBc and phase noise of -99.86 dBc at 100 kHz offset frequency and 18.7 GHz center frequency.
Background: We are developing L-band and S-band microwave dielectric absorption systems aiming novel dosimetry using DNAs, such as plasmid DNA and genomic DNA, and microwave technology. Materials and Methods: Each system is composed of a cavity resonator, analog signal generator, circulator, power meter, and oscilloscope. Since the cavity resonator is sensitive to temperature change, we have made great efforts to prevent the fluctuation of temperature. We have developed software for controlling and measurement. Results and Discussion: By using this system, we can measure the resonance frequency, f, and ${\Delta}Q$ (Q is a dimensionless parameter that describes how under-damped an oscillator or resonator is, and characterizes a resonator's bandwidth relative to its center frequency) within about 3 minutes with high accuracy. Conclusion: This system will be expected to be applicable to DNAs evaluations and to novel dosimetric system.

In this paper, an X-band TDRO(transistor dielectric resonator oscillator) is designed and experimented with the oscillator constructed. Design of the TDRO is carried out by deriving analycally the coupling parameters between a microstrip line and a dielectric resonator. The coupling parameters take account of the relations among substrate material, ground plane, metallic boundaries surrounding the resonator, distance between a microstrip line and a resonator. Two criteria, external quality factor and coupling coefficient, have been chosen in order to evaluate the performance of the TDRO designed. TDRO studed in this paper may be useful for the application of a microwave system requiring a stable and effective oscillator frequency.

This paper presents a design procedure and manufacturing techniques realizing of a 5.8 GHz duplexer based on cylindrical coaxial dielectric resonator. Upto Q$\times$f$\_$o/=30,000 cylindric coaxial dielectric resonator was developed control by addition of dielectric materials. This resonator shows attenuation characteristics -40 dB for transmitter and -50 dB for receiver by consisting of two sets of 4-stage cavity resonator within f$\_$o/$\pm$10 MHz bandwidth which was requirement of DSRC. Employing the measurement results, design procedure to characterize the transmission and reflection properties are presented.
