이류체 분사노즐의 혼합영역 형상에 따른 분무특성 (Spray characteristics on mixing region scale of twin fluid atomizer)

  • 본 연구에서는 가장 다순한 내부혼합형 이류체분사노즐의 기류속도, 액체유량, 노즐직경 및 혼합길이, 기액접촉각을 변화시켜 평균입경(SMD), 분무각, 입도분포, 분 무분사량분포 등을 조사하여 노즐형상에 따른 분무특성의 변화를 자세히 밝혀, 분무특 성을 조절할 수 있는 이류체분사 노즐의 설계에 대한 기초적 자료를 제시하고자 한다.

Preparation of Nanocapsules Containing Phase Change Materials by Miniemulsion Polymerization

  • Polystyrene nanocapsules containing octadecane as a core material were prepared by miniemulsion polymerization. The morphology and size of the nanocapsules were measured with varying the surfactant concentration, content of initiator, core/shell ratio and content of comonomer. The morphologies of the prepared nanoparticles were examined by a scanning electron microscope, a transmission electron microscope and the core material was confirmed by a differential scanning calorimeter. The particles below 70 nm in diameter were formed at a high surfactant concentration. The size of the nanoparticles was not significantly affected by the initiator content. With increasing the core/shell ratio and polar comonomer content, the particle size and its distribution were increased.

固體粉末이 浮上된 二相亂流 管流動의 熱傳達에 관한 硏究 (Study on the two phase turbulent heat transfer of gas-solid supension flow in pipes)

  • The objective of this paper is to investigate effects of the specific heat and the diameter of suspending particles on the heat transfer coefficient of two phase turbulent flow with suspension of solid particles in a circular tube with constant heat flux. Heat transfer coefficients of two phase turbulent flow in pipe with suspension of graphite powder were measured with variations of particle sizes and solid-gas loading ratio. Measured data were compared with predictions by numerical analysis in which the turbulece models are closed on the first order level. Results show that heat transfer coefficient increases with increasing the solid-gas loading ratio and the specific heat of suspending material, however, it decreases as the average diameter of particles decreases below $24{\mu}m$.

  • To predict the service life of an organic vapor respirator cartridge, the breakthrough curve of respirator was simulated using a fixed-bed adsorption model and compared with that of sampling tube. And the effects of bed porosity, length to diameter ratio and flow rate of the sampling tube were studied. The life time of respirator cartridge was increased with the decrease of particle size and bed porosity. And the breakthrough time of sampling tube was affected by the flow rate, however not by the length to diameter ratio. The 10% breakthrough time of the sampling tube was corresponded with that of cartridge.

Furan Foundry Sand 유동층에서 열 전달 특성에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study on Heat Transfer in the Furan Foundry Sand Fluidized Bed)

  • 본 연구소에서는 Furan foundry sand 유동층내에 Spiral coil tube를 설치하여 유동입자, 유동층내 온도, 유동율, 전열 관의 Pitch와 직경 비(p/Do) 및 전열 관의 Pitch와 유동입자의 크기의 비(p/dp) 등이 전열 관 표면 열 전달계수(ho)에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 연구하고, 또한 최대 $Nu_{max}$수를 여러 변수들의 관계로 나타내었다. 전열 관 표면 열 전달계수는 유동층내 온도가 높아 질 수록, 유동율이 커질수록 증가한다. 그러나 유동입자의 크기가 커지면 열 전달계수는 감소한다. 전열 관의 Pitch와 직경 비(p/Do)와의 관계에서 p/Do=4.75일 때 가장 높은 열 전달계수를 얻었으며, 유동층내 온도가 상승하고, Re 수가 증가할 수록 p/Do=1.58일 때보다 p/Do=4.75일때가 Nu수의 증가율은 다소 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 p/dp의 비가 클 경우 낮은 온도($75^{\circ}C$)에서, p/dp의 비가 작을 경우는 높은 온도($550^{\circ}C$)에서 열 전달 효과가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 본 실험범위에서 최대 $Nu_{max}$ 수와 Re 수, Prg 수, p/dp 및 p/Do의 관계를 무차원 식으로 다음과 같이 나타낼 수 있었다. $$Nu_{max}=1.01\;Re^{0.48}Prg^{0.4}(p/dp)^{0.28}(p/Do)^{0.05}$$.

이송식 아크플라즈마 장치에 의해 제조된 실리콘 나노분말의 특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Silicon Nanopowders Produced by Transferred Type Arc Plasma Apparatus)

  • This study was carried out experimentally on the production and properties of silicon nanopowders characteristics using a transferred type arc plasma apparatus. To investigate the properties of silicon nanopowder, the purity of argon gas(99.999%, 99.9%) and the partial pressure ratio of nitrogen gas(0~90%) were varied. The total pressure in chamber is 400Torr and the silicon chunk amount used as raw material is 300g. The power supplied to the cathode to generate arc plasma was 9~12kW/h, and the electrode was made of tungsten and graphite with a diameter of 13mm. The particle size, impurity elements and powder evaporation rate of the silicon powder were analyzed using the XRD, FE-SEM, TEM and electronic scale. According to the purity of argon gas, the silicon evaporation rate and the particle size were similar, and impurities were generated more in the case of 99.9% purity than 99.999%. When argon gas and nitrogen gas were mixed in the chamber, the silicon evaporation rate and particle size increased as the partial pressure ratio of nitrogen gas increased. In particular, when the partial pressure ratio of nitrogen gas was 80%, the silicon evaporation rate 80g/h, and the particle size was about 80~100nm.

활성탄 입자 크기가 카페인 흡착에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Activated Carbon Particle Sizes on Caffeine Adsorptions)

  • The effect of activated carbon particle diameter (i.e. US sieve No. $8{\times}10$ ($d_p{\approx}2.19mm$), $18{\times}20$ ($d_p{\approx}0.92mm$), $50{\times}60$ ($d_p{\approx}0.27mm$) and $170{\times}200$ ($d_p{\approx}0.081mm$) on caffeine adsorption is investigated. BET surface area was increased with decreasing particle diameter ($d_p$), and caffeine adsorption rates increased with decreasing $d_p$. Moreover, pseudo-second order model is predicted the experimental data more accurately than pseudo-first order model, and the fastest rate constant ($k_2$) was $1.7g\;mg^{-1}min^{-1}$ when $d_p$ was 0.081 mm. Surface diffusion coefficient (Ds) was decreased with decreasing $d_p$ based on the minimum sum of square error (SSE). Practically, certain ranges of Ds are acceptable with high reliability ($R^2$) and it is determined that the effect of $d_p$ on Ds is unclear. The effect of pH on caffeine adsorption indicated the dependency of m/L ratio (mass liquid ratio) and $pH_{pzc}$. The $pH_{pzc}$ (i.e. $7.9{\pm}0.2$) was not affected by $d_p$. The higher caffeine adsorption at pH 4 and pH 7 than at pH 10 is due to $pH_{pzc}$, not $pk_a$ of caffeine.

전기집진기의 10 nm 급 초미세 나노입자의 하전 및 집진 특성 (Characteristics of Charging and Collection of 10-nm-Class Ultrafine Nanoparticles in an Electrostatic Precipitator)

  • 전기집진에서의 10 nm 급 초미세 나노입자의 하전 및 집진 특성을 파악하였고, 나노입자의 확산효과와 비교해 보았다. 나노입자의 하전율과 확산손실 효과의 지배력에 따라 전기집진기에서의 나노입자 집진효율이 결정되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 10nm 급 영역에서는 입자 크기가 작아질수록 지속적으로 집진효율이 감소하였다. 10 nm 이하의 영역에서는 나노입자의 부분적 하전효과가 전기집진기 내의 확산 손실 효과보다 지배적인 것을 알 수 있었다. 10 nm 이하의 나노입자에 대하여 집진효율 실험 결과가 단극 확산 하전 이론을 적용한 입자하전율 계산 결과와도 잘 일치하였다.

Dispersion Polymerization of Acrylamide in Methanol/Water Media

  • Dispersion polymerization of acrylamide was carried out in the media of methyl alcohol/$H_2O$ mixtures using hydroxypropyl cellulose and ammonium persulfate as steric stabilizer and initiator, respectively. The effects of concentrations of initiator and steric stabilizer, amount of monomer, polymerization temperature, methyl alcohol/$H_2O$ ratio, and purification of monomer and nitrogen purge on the particle size of the latices and molecular weight of the polymers were investigated. The average particle diameter increased with increasing concentration of initiator, water content in methyl alcohol/$H_2O$ media, and polymerization temperature, but decreased with monomer and stabilizer concentrations. The viscosity average molecular weight increased with increasing concentrations of monomer, steric stabilizer, and water content in dispersion media, but decreased with initiator concentration and polymerization temperature. The PAM polymers prepared with the purified monomer and the nitrogen purging before the reaction showed the highest molecular weight.

  • It is an well-known fact that dynamic properties should be considered in design and maintenance of civil structures undergoing dynamic force such as rail track. For designing of the rail tack structures, dynamic properties of track bed soil such as shear modulus (G) and damping coefficients(D) obtained in small to medium range of shear strain must be known. In general, small size sample of D=5 cm and H=10cm has been used mostly for test convenience. However, ratio of largest particle diameter of the soil to sample diameter is very important and affects to the values of dynamic soil properties in track bed. In this study, an RC/TS test apparatus was built and was run for testing a medium size soil sample that can handle with compacted soil sample up to 10 cm diameter and 20 cm height.
