Vine Based Dial Algorithm (덩굴망기반 Dial 알고리즘 연구)

  • The Dial Algorithm, based on single link based calculation, is unable to reflect cyclic paths arising in actual urban transportation networks. At the same time, redefining the paths more efficiently can, by strict standards, lead to irrational results stemming from reduction in the size of the network to be analyzed. To solve these two problems of the Dial algorithm, the research herein proposes a vine network method applied to a link based Dial Algorithm, in which the original three step alogrithm is modified into a vine network-based three step process. Also, an analysis of two case study networks show feasible replication of the predicted cyclic path, unrealistic flow, and unsteady transit, as well as alleviation of the problem of irrational path allocation.

  • This paper evaluates the performance of transit assignment algorithms for urban rail networks. The accuracy of the algorithms is essential not just for travel forecasting but also for the area of applications such as the assessment of road vulnerability and the fare adjustments between train operating companies. Nonetheless, the suitability and caveats for the series of computational steps have not yet been much discussed. This study thus considers the characteristics that are appropriate for investigating Seoul rail travelers using three representative transit assignment algorithms: the optimal strategy algorithm, route choice algorithms, and the Dial's algorithm. Both the theoretical foundation and the empirical performance are examined. The results demonstrate that the Dial's algorithm is superior in terms of the theoretical soundness and the computational efficiency.

A Vine-Based Stochastic Loading Technique in Pedestrian Networks Considering Space Syntax Theory (Space Syntax Theory를 반영한 덩굴망기반 확률적 보행네트워크 배정기법)

  • Evaluation of the walkability of the urban pedestrian network requires construction of a pedestrian network model that reflects Space Syntax Theory. Space Syntax Theory deduces an integration value through which materials for evaluation of the pedestrian network's connectivity can be produced; and can aid in illustrating the ease of walkability through the model's calculation of pedestrian indices such as movability, comfort, and safety. But the representation of space syntax theory in the pedestrian network requires that turn delay be added by means of a network-type construction method. While tree-based Dial Algorithm proposed for the logit-based probability walkability distribution model may be effective for link-based pedestrian volume distribution, it requires further network expansion to reflect turn delays. In this research, Vine-based Dial Algorithm is executed in order to obtain a measure reflecting the integration value for Space Syntax Theory. The Vine-based Dial Algorithm of two adjacent links, which forms the minimum unit of the Vine network, has the advantage of encompassing turn delay, and thus eliminates the need for network expansion. Usage of the model to evaluation of complicated pedestrian spheres such as urban roads is left to further research. Especially the progression of the proposed method is deduced through case study.

A Study for Solving Multi-Depot Dial-a-Ride Problem Considering Soft Time Window (다수차고지와 예약시간 위반을 고려한 교통약자 차량 서비스에 대한 연구)

  • Dial-a-ride is the most widely available transit service for disabled persons or seniors in the United States and Europe. This paper studies a static dial-a-ride problem considering multiple depots, heterogeneous vehicles, and soft time windows. In this paper, we apply a heuristic based on clustering first-routing second(HCR) to a real-world large dial-a-ride problem from Maryland Transit Administration(MTA). MTA's real operation is compared with the results of developed heuristic for 24 cases. The objective function of the proposed model is to minimize the total cost composed of the service provider's cost and the customers' inconvenience cost. For the comparison, the objective function values of HCR do not include waiting cost, delay cost, and excess ride cost. The objective function values from HCR are better than those from MTA's operation for all cases. This result shows that our heuristic method can make the real operation better and more efficient.

Study on Multi-modal Transit Network Assignment with Dial Algorithm (다이알 알고리즘을 이용한 다수단 대중교통 노선배정기법에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 대중교통 노선배정 시에 여러 수단간의 환승을 고려함으로써 다수단 대중교통망 내에서 수단선택과 노선선택을 동시에 수행할 수 있도록 확률적인 통행배분(traffic assignment) 모형의 하나인 다이알 알고리즘을 응용할 것을 제시하고 그 알고리즘의 속성을 정확하게 규명하는데 있다 승용차의 확률적 통행배분모형으로 잘 알려져 있는 Dial 알고리즘은 로짓모형에 기초한 것이므로 다수단간의 대중교통 수단선택과 노선선택과 같은 선택 행태를 동시에 설명할 수 있는 모형적 특성을 기본적으로 내재하고 있다. 본 연구에서 제시한 대중교통 노선선택에 적용될 수 있도록 수정된 다이알 알고리즘은 기존의 결정적 대중교 통 노선배정 모형들의 단점을 극복할 수 있는 특성을 갖고 있다. 즉 결정적 대중교통 노선배정모형은 기종점간 최단경로에 교통량을 전랑배분(All-or-Nothing)하여 통행자들의 행태적 속성을 제대로 반영하지 못하고 있으며, 다수단 대중교통망 내에서 환승을 포함한 복합 대중교통수단의 선택을 효용극대화 이론에 기초하지 않고 최소비용노선에 전량배분하는 모형의 한계점을 갖고 있다. 이러한 결정적 대중교통 노선배정모형의 단점을 수정된 다이알 알고리즘은 개선할 수가 있다. 본 연구에서는 알고리즘의 특성을 파악하기 위한 모의실험으로 Sioux Falls 형태의 대중교통 네트워크를 이용하여 기존의 알고리즘과 비교 분석하였다. 분석의 탄력성을 갖고 있는 수정된 대중교통 다이알 알고리즘이 현실적 대중교통 통행패턴을 기존 모형보다 합리적으로 설명할 수 있을 것으로 보이며, 특히 다수단 대중교통망이 형성된 대도시의 대중교통 정책분석에 적합한 기법이 될 수 있을 것으로 고려된다.

Relationship between Pedestrian Network and Pedestrian Volume Using Connectivity (연결도를 이용한 보행네트워크와 보행통행량의 상호관련성 연구)

  • It is important to know pedestrian volume to carry out pedestrian safety analysis and pedestrian friendly design. However, it is too difficult to come across research work related to pedestrian volume analysis in the field of transport, due to lack of interests on pedestrian movement. Most transport research has been focused on vehicles and highways rather than pedestrian. On the other hand, in the field of urban studies, there comes an effective tool to estimate pedestrian volumes using Space Syntax theory. This theory twins out to be effective and economic because it only requires network information, which is easy to acquire from maps and field survey. However, this method is different in the way representing networks from the way that is common in the field of transport. To make up for this point, this paper develops a novel measure for estimating pedestrian volume using Dial's algorithm, and applies the model in the two test networks; Insadong and Soongryemoon networks. The application results reveals that developed measure is an effective tool to explain pedestrian volume; a correlation coefficient between the measure and pedestrian volume is 0.713 in Insadong and 0.492 in Soongryemoon, and the goodness of fit($R^2$) of regression models are 0.893 in Insadong and 0.671 in Soongryemoon. This estimation method is significantly less complicated to estimate the effect of a pedestrian network change than Space Syntax theory, which requires special softwares not readily available.

Integration of Space Syntax Theory and Logit Model for Walkability Evaluation in Urban Pedestrian Networks (도시 보행네트워크의 보행성 평가를 위한 공간구문론과 Logit 모형의 통합방안)

  • Ensuring walkability in a city where pedestrians and vehicles coexist is an issue of critical importance. The relative relationship between vehicle transit and walkability improvements complicates the evaluation of walkability, which thus necessitates the formation of a quantitative standard by which a methodological measurement of walkability can be achieved inside the pedestrian network. Therefore, a model is determined whereby quantitative indices such as, but not limited to, experiences of accessibility, mobility, and convenience within the network are estimated. This research proposes the integration of space syntax theory and the logit path choice model in the evaluation of walkability. Space syntax theory assesses adequacy of the constructed pedestrian network through calculation of the link integration value, while the logit model estimates its safety, mobility, and accessibility using probability. The advantage of the integrated model hence lies in its ability to sufficiently reflect such evaluation measures as the integration value, mobility convenience, accessibility potential, and safety experienced by the demand in a quantitative manner through probability computation. In this research, the Dial Algorithm is used to arrive at a solution to the logit model. This process requires that the physical distance of the pedestrian network and the perceptive distance of space syntax theory be made equivalent. In this, the research makes use of network expansion to reflect wait times. The evaluation index calculated through the integrated model is reviewed and using the results of this sample network, the applicability of the model is assessed.

Numerical Analysis of Differential Absorption Lidar for Measuring Atmospheric Pollutants (대기오염 측정용 DIAL시스템의 오차해석)

  • In this study, we composed algorithm of DIAL(Differential Absorption Lidar). we investigated the absorption spectrum of $O_3$, S $O_2$ and N $O_2$ dependent on wavelengths using data base UV-Bank and determine the optimized wavelength model. Here, the selected optimal wavelengths are 292.00(λ$_{on}$ ), 295.20(λ$_{off}$) for $O_3$, 299.38(λ$_{on}$ ), 300.05(λ$_{off}$) for S $O_2$ and 448.00(λ$_{on}$ ), 449.85(λ$_{off}$) for N $O_2$. In particular, we established the supposed model of DIAL and simulated the error of measuring distance using the selected optimal wavelength. In the model-I with telescope of 300 mm diameter, laser energy of 3 mJ and transmission of 10000 shots, maximum distances are 4 km for $O_3$ measurement and 5 km for S $O_2$ and N $O_2$ measurements. Also, in the model-II with telescope of 600 mm diameter, laser energy of 30 mJ and transmission of 10000 shots, maximum distances are 13 km for S $O_2$ and N $O_2$ measurements.ments.
