  • In this paper a method to diagnose pathological voices using wavelet transform is sug gested. Pathological voices are collected from hospital and analyzed by the suggested method. Normal voices are collected separately and analyzed. Then the results are compared to find the differences in their characteristics. Three level wavelet transform is used. Normalized energy ratios between the levels and normalized peak-to-peak values are used as parameters. As a result, it was possible to distinguish between normal and pathological voices.

  • An expert system DESPRESS is developed to diagnose the fault of press by using CBR technique. In this paper, we describes the subjects for development of the system. DESPRESS deals compositly with perceptive symptoms, functional abnormalities, lamp signals and gage values, and then outputs fault parts and fault status for the press. The expert system can be used to prevent occurance of unexpected fault and minimize break times for failures.

  • Skin biopsy and staining the specimens with immuno-reactive markers has been proven to be a useful method to demonstrate the pathologic status of small nerve fibers. Quantification of intraepidermal nerve fiber density using anti-protein gene product 9.5 antibody is a standard method to diagnose small fiber neuropathy. Skin biopsy also makes it possible to differentiate the nerve fibers according to their function by using different markers. Quantification of dermal structures with different types of nerve fibers could reveal the pathophysiologic mechanism of the disease state.

  • This paper presents an artificial neural network approach to diagnose and detect faults in oil-filled power transformers based on dissolved gas analysis. The proposed algorithm is used to detect faults with or without cellulose involved. Several neural network topologies have been considered. Good diagnosis accuracy is obtained with the proposed approach.

  • The diagnosis has an very important role in curing dementia. But there was not the effective method to diagnose it until now. In this paper we analyzed the EEG in Alzheimer's disease and normal control groups to differentiated them by nonlinear parameter such as the correlation dimension. And we propose the nonlinear analysis of EEG in Alzheimer's disease as a useful tool of early diagnosis of it.

  • Many references report that abnormal diastema except temporary diastema existing in mixed dentition period is caused by maxilary heavy labial frenum, malocclusion, progressive periodontal disease, and loss of posterior teeth. We can diagnose patient as diastema caused by periodontal disease, especially, in case of accompanying progressively destructed anterior maxillary alveolar bone defect, and interseptal bone defect. We report Multiple disciplinary approach for diastema associated with periodontal disease. Periodontal treatment(Guided Tissue -Regeneration, alveoloplasty, bone graft), or thodontic treatment (space closure, redistribution), and the final proshodontic restoration for retention were used.

  • Burning mouth syndrome(BMS) is a burning sensation in the oral mucosa and $doesn^{\circ}$Øt have any identifiable oral lesion and organic etiology. Diagnosis of BMS is mainly based on clinical features and serial exclusion of other possible causes. There is no specific examination for BMS and that could embarrasse the dentist. In this study, the characteristics, differential diagnosis and several treatments of BMS are presented so that dentists can better diagnose BMS to maintain a good relationship with the patients.

  • This paper proposes the enhanced rules for setting and coordination of the relays in the distance relaying. The developed new rules to diagnose the coordination based on the system information are expected to be very helpful in the system expansion planning stage. An expert system to adopt those rules have been developed using the hybrid AI tool, NEXPERT-OBJECT.

  • Fine needle aspiration has been widely used to diagnose of breast lesions whether they are malignant or not. When applied by experienced and well-trained practitioners, its accuracy can approach that of histopathology. In order to make optimal use of FNAB in breast lesions, this article has reviewed the criteria for sample adequacy, the diagnostic terminology and the cytomorphologic approach to making a diagnosis and avoiding diagnostic pitfalls.
