  • The nondestructive tests(NDT) are widely applied at various industrial job sites to detect defects and flaws early and thus to diagnose the quality and integrity of components, structures and systems. This paper discusses the R&MD history of various nondestructive testing techniques, their applications and many technical as well as safety issues identified, particularly in the performance of radiography. Also discussed are the principles of inspection methods and NDT qualifications that should be applied at the industrial job sites. As a result, this paper provides suggestions for improvement in Government programs to promote th NDT industry, for more systematic operation through a direct with the owner, and also for improvement in working conditions for NDT workers.

  • In many case, reinforced concrete structures are deteriorated by construction errors, design errors, settlement and movement, and weathering. The diagnose and repair of concrete deterioration is important for effective management of concrete structures. This manual is to provides guideline on evaluating the deterioration of the concrete in a structure and selecting an appropriate repair material and method.

  • Our studies diagnose insulation degradation using the method of computer sensing system, which has the advantages of PD(partial discharge) and AE(acoustic emission) sensing system. To use advantages of these two methods can be used effectively to search for treeing location and PD in some materials. In analysis method of degradation, using statically operator such as the center of gravity (G), the gradient of the discharge distribution(C), we have analyzed for the prediction of life which we can be obtained the time, occurred of many pulse of small discharge amplitude.

  • A new methodology is presented to diagnose faults in equipment plasma. This is accomplished by using neural networks as a pattern recognizer of radio frequency(rf) impedance match data. Using a realtime match monitor system, the match data were collected. The monitor system consisted mainly of a multifunction board and a signal flow diagram coded by Visual Designer. Plasma anomaly was effectively represented by electrical match positions. Twenty sets of fault-symptom patterns were experimentally simulated with experimental variations in process factors, which include rf source power, pressure, Ar and O$_2$ flow rates. As the inputs to neural networks, two means and standard deviations of positions were used ...

  • An effective approach to detect and diagnose multiple failures in a dynamic system is proposed for the case where the measurement noise is correlated sequentially in time. It is based on the modified interacting multiple-model (MIMM) estimation algorithm in which a generalized decorrelation process is developed by employing the autoregressive (AR) model for the correlated measurement noise. Numerical example for the nuclear steam generator is provided to illustrate the enhanced performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • Despite of the low productivity, the manual programming for NC machining is still widly used because of it's economical reasons. In this study, the computer assisted manual programming system CAMP which assits the efficient verification of MCD(Machine Control Data) is presented. The system can detect sysntax errors, graphically display tool motions and eventually diagnose programming techniques. The case study is applied for the NC turning operations.

  • Thiemann's disease is a form of idiopathic avascular necrosis of the immature epiphyses of the phalanges of the fingers and toes. Few cases of Thiemann's disease have been reported because the disease is rare and difficult to diagnose. To the best of our knowledge, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of Thiemann's disease have not been reported. Here, we report a case of Thiemann's disease diagnosed by typical clinical symptoms and characteristic MRI findings before radiologic bony abnormalities were apparent.

  • The purpose of this paper is to diagnose the problems of the revision process of the curriculum, and identify the issues in relation to the 7th mathematics curriculum. From the review on the curriculum revision process in Korea, three issues were identified; timing and scale of curriculum revision, research and curriculum revision, and the relationship between the revision of the overall curriculum and that of a subject curriculum. Regarding the mathematics curriculum, the three issues were raised for further discussion; lack of philosophy behind the mathematics curriculum, optimization of mathematics educational content, and differentiated curricula for students of different abilities.
