무정전 전원장치 효율 향상에 대한 연구 (Efficiency Improvement of Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems)

  • An efficiency improving method for Uninterruptible Power Supply System(UPS) was developed by using OP-AMP based application circuits such as voltage detection device, current detection device and static switch control device. The efficiency improving algorithm was made by mixing the operating concepts of On-Line type UPS with the operating concepts of Off-Line type UPS. The UPS' inverter does not work if the UPS' output load current is not higher than the low load operating current which is about 0-30(%) of the UPS' output load capacity. The low load operating current is adjustable within the half of the UPS' output load capacity. If the UPS' output load current is rising over than the low load operating current, the UPS' inverter starts working and the inverter output power feeds to the loads of UPS. If UPS' input power breaks out while UPS' inverter does not operate because the load current is low, the inverter starts working within 4(ms) with excessive output voltage which is ${\pm}$8(%) of normal UPS' output voltage. Like these. UPS can continuously feeds power to it's load device and reduce power consumptions.

백색 OLED의 발광효율 향상을 위한 Dielectric Layer 설계에 관한 연구 (The Study of Dielectric Layer Design for Luminance Efficiency of White Organic Light Emitting Device)

  • We have optimized the device structure by using the dielectric layer such as anti-reflection thin film to improve the emitting efficiency of white organic light emitting device (WOLED). Basically, dielectric layer with anti-reflection characteristics can enhance the emitting efficiency of WOLED by compensating the refractive index of organic layer, ITO, and Glass. Here, WOLED was designed and optimized by Macleod simulator. The refractive index of 1.74 was calculated for Dielectric layer and was selected as $TiO_2$. The optimal thicknesses of $TiO_2$ and ITO were 119.3 and 166.6 nm, respectively, at the wavelength of 600 nm. The transmittance of ITO was measured with the thickness variation of dielectric layer and ITO in Organic layer/ITO/Dielectric layer structure. The transmittance of ITO was 95.17% and thicknesses of $TiO_2$ and ITO were 119.3 and 166.6 nm, respectively. This result, calculated and measured values were coincided.

방전가공시 측면 플러싱 장치를 활용한 가공성 향상 (Improvements of Electro Discharge Machining Process using Side Flushing Devices)

  • The present works concerns a side flushing device for the improvement of the conventional Electric-Discharge Machining(EDM) process. In the EDM process, chips are usually generated as the workpiece is removed, and deposited between the electrode and the workpiece. This sediment degrades the surface finish of the machined product as well as the processing efficiency. In the present study, a flushing device with additional side injection equipments is proposed in order to remove the deposited chips effectively. Through numerical simulations, the validity of the proposed device is verified, and the influence of process parameters is investigated. Experiments have been also carried out in the die sinking EDM process. It was observed that the process efficiency and the surface finish are improved by virtue of the proposed flushing device.

Device characteristics of blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes depending on the electron transport materials

  • Iridium-(III)-bis[(4,6-di-fluorophenyl)-pyridinate-N,$C^2$' ]picolinate-based blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes with different electron transport materials were fabricated. Each electron transport material had different electron mobilities and triplet energies. The device with 1,3,5-tri(m-pyrid-3-yl-phenyl)benzene had the highest external quantum efficiency (20.1%) and luminous current efficiency (33.1 cd/A) due to its high electron mobility and triplet energy. The operational stability of each device was also compared with that of the others. The device with 2,2',2"(1,3,5-benzenetriyl)tris-(1-phenyl-1H-benzimidazole) was found to have a longer lifetime than the other devices.

  • There has been an interest to develop an efficient, compact microwave device using field-emitter-arrays (FEA)-based cathode. Toe valuate the optimum device-efficiency in a compact size, the propagation properties of the premodulated electron beam for the FEA-based cathode is studied in detail by the computer simulation using a PIC code, MAGIC. For the premodulated electron beam whose phase of the energy leads the phase of the current by $\pi$/2, the amplitude of the downstream current modulation can be kept as high as the initial modulation level. Using the beam parameters with the beam voltage of 6kV and the current of 2.0A, 30% of efficiency is predicted when the quality factor of 800 is chosen. the device length is reduced about twice compared with that of the conventional device. The design of practical planar cathode is carried out to meet the minimum diameter of the electron beam as 0.5 mm.

A study on the Development of Energy-Saving Device "Crown Duct"

  • A energy saving device "Crown duct" has been developed and its efficiency gain has been verified experimentally in the towing tank of SSPA. The preswirl stator is well known as one of energy saving devices, which recovering the rotational energy of propeller slipstream. Crown duct has two functions of recovers the rotational energy by three blades on top of duct and of flow concentration by semi-duct. The model tests showed 4.4% efficiency gain with Crown Duct at full load condition and 6.9% at ballast condition compared with the bare hull ones for the middle class tanker.

Device to Device Communications Architectures and Cross-Layer Evaluation Frameworks

  • The paper focuses on Device-to-device (D2D) Architectures evaluation frameworks. D2D communication and discovery can improve spectrum usage efficiency and optimize the tradeoffs between throughput and energy consumption. The target operation modes involve both indirect communication between two nodes via a base station or the direct communication among proximal nodes, enabling use cases that can support communications out of cellular coverage, as well as low end-end delay requirements. The paper will present the architectural evolution of D2D networks within 3GPP standardization and will highlight key network functionalities and signaling protocols. It will also identify key analytical and simulation models that can be used to assess the performance and energy efficiency of resource allocation strategies, and it will present a suitable cross-layer integrated framework.

  • In this paper, to implement the electrical equivalent modeling of powder electroluminescent device, capacitate equation of device was chosen. The conventional structure device which have dielectric and phosphor layer between electrodes, and the single emission structure device which means that dielectric and phosphor were mixed between electrodes, were investigated. As a result, it was possible to make the equation that is transferred capacitance to phosphor layer, and using measured brightness efficiency and conductivity of devices was calculated.

마이크로 렌즈 어레이를 이용한 유기 발광 소자의 광추출 효율 향상에 관한 연구 (Improvement of Outcoupled Light Efficiency of Organic Light-emitting Diodes with a Use of Microlens Array)

  • Because of a waveguiding effect and total internal reflection caused by a difference in refractive indices, only 20% of generated light is emitted to the air and the rest is trapped or absorbed in the device. An improvement of outcoupled efficiency of organic light-emitting diodes was studied using a microlens array. Mold of microlens array was fabricated by using photo-lithography with the AZ9260 photoresist, and the microlens array was formed onto the glass substrate using the UV curing agent named ZPU13-440. Device structure consists of microlens/glass/ITO/TPD/$Alq_3$/LiF/Al. It was found that there is an improvement of external quantum efficiency by about 20% at the same current density for the device with the microlens array compared to that of the reference one. Simulated outcoupled efficiency shows the improvement by about 20% for the device with the microlens array compared to that of the reference one. These results are consistent with the experimental ones.

3-유기층 구조를 갖는 고효율 청색 유기발광소자 (High Efficiency Blue Organic Light-Emitting Diode with Three Organic Layer Structure)

  • Simple and high efficiency blue organic light-emitting diodes with three organic layers of N, N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis-[4-(phenyl-m-tolylamino)-phenyl]-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine[DNTPD]/1,1-bis-(di-4-polya-minophenyl)cyclohexane[TAPC]/electron transport material [ET-137] were fabricated and their electroluminescent characteristics were evaluated according to the TAPC thickness variation in a range of $50{\sim}300{\AA}$. Electroluminescence spectra of the devices with structure of DNTPD/TAPC/ET-137 showed all the same central emission wavelengths of 455 nm under an applied voltage of 7V, which were similar with that of the device with ET-137 only. On the other hand, the electroluminescence spectra of the device with structure of DNTPD/ET-137 without TAPC layer showed double emission peaks at the wavelengths of 455 nm and 561 nm under an applied voltage of 7V. In the devices with structure of DNTPD/TAPC/ET-137, single peak blue emission was not maintained in the device with $50{\AA}$-thick TAPC above 8V by the formation of exciplex. In the device with $300{\AA}$-thick TAPC, however, single peak blue emission was maintained until 10 V. According to the thickness increase of TAPC in the fabricated devices, the current density and luminance decreased, but the luminous efficiency and roll-off characteristics were improved.
