한반도 초기 계기지진 자료 (1905-1942) (Early Instrumental Earthquake Data (1905-1942) in Korea)

  • 110 earthquake parameters (origin time, epicentral location and magnitude) were determined from 533 event records between 1905 and 1942 using data mainly from the "Annual Report of the Meteorological Observatory of the Government General of Tyosen" We adopted epicentral coordinates from the original reports for 34 events and from the Japanese Central Meteorological Observatory far another .34 events. We determined epicenters for 37 events using arrival time information from the reports. We adopted 4 epicenters from the International Seismological Summary and I from the Chinese bulletin. To determine the magnitude, we applied Tsuboi (1954) formula which is currently employed by Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) for 94 events. For 16 events, we determined magnitude from the reef)reed felt epicentral areal using the correlation equation between known magnitude and felt area.

Liquid chromatographic determination of α-, β-, γ-, and δ-tocopherol in sesame oils of different origin

  • The contents of ${\alpha}$-, ${\beta}$-, ${\gamma}$-, and $\delta$-tocopherols in sesame oils were determined by high performance liquid chromatography with UV detection. ${\alpha}$-Tocopherol contents ranged from 10.28 to 19.79 mg/g oil, ${\beta}$-tocopherol contents from 8.22 to 20.10 mg/g. However, both ${\gamma}$- and $\delta$-tocopherol were less than 1.49 mg/g or not detected. ${\gamma}$-Tocopherol was not detected from both unroasted white and black sesame seed oils. Significantly higher level of tocopherol in sesame oil than other oils is an evidence of the reason why it is highly stable and prevents oxidation. The tocopherol composition for twenty sesame oils was classified by using principal component analysis.

  • The usefulness of single, random measurements of serum FSH and LH in the diagnosis of primary amenorrhea by radioimmunoassay was investigated. The 16 patients were divided into 3 groups by the level of serum FSH and LH. The first group with increased level of serum FSH and LH is five patients, all of these are related to the acquired or congenital abnormality of the ovary. Further studies indicated include buccal smear, chromosome analysis, gynecography and laparosocopy. The second group with normal serum FSH and LH is nine patients, four patients of these are related to the developmental anomaly of the Mullerian duct and five patients are undo etermined origin. Further studies indicated include laparoscopy and gynecography. The third group with decreased serum FSH and normal or decreased serum LH is two patients, one of these is related to the pituitary function, isolated FSH deficiency, the other is undetermined origin. Further studies indicated include the pituitary function test, LH-RH stimulation test, skull radiography. Determination of serum FSH and LH levels does not permit a specific etiologic diagnosis of primary amenorrhea. However the serum levels of FSH and LH can be used to differentiate the principal area of the investigation and can be of assistance in choosing more specific testing procedures.

성토폭의 확장에 의한 지중응력 결정법 연구 (Study on the Method of Determination of Vertical Stress Due to Extension of Embankment Width)

  • 본 연구에서는 성토체의 확장에 의해 성토체 하부지반으로 전달되는 연직응력 증분량을 계산할 수 있는 식을 탄성론에 근거하여 유도하였다. 연직응력 증분량 산정식의 유도과정에서는 평면기점의 개념을 적용하여 유도과정을 단순화하였다. 연직응력 증분량 산정식에 의한 계산결과를 수치해석결과와 비교해 보았을 때 성토체 하부지반으로의 깊이가 커질수록 산정식과 수치해석결과 사이의 차이가 감소하였다. 수평방향 거리에 따른 연직응력 증분량을 수치해석결과와 산정식에 의한 결과를 통해 비교해 볼 때 대체적으로 산정식에 의해 예측된 연직응력 증분량이 수치해석에 의한 증분량보다 약간 커서 보수적인 결과를 보임을 알 수 있었다.

GC-MS 기반 대사체학 기술을 응용한 참당귀의 산지비교분석 (Comparative Analysis of Cultivation Region of Angelica gigas Using a GC-MS-Based Metabolomics Approach)

  • Background: A set of logical criteria that can accurately identify and verify the cultivation region of raw materials is a critical tool for the scientific management of traditional herbal medicine. Methods and Results: Volatile compounds were obtained from 19 and 32 samples of Angelica gigas Nakai cultivated in Korea and China, respectively, by using steam distillation extraction. The metabolites were identified using GC/MS by querying against the NIST reference library. Data binning was performed to normalize the number of variables used in statistical analysis. Multivariate statistical analyses, such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Partial Least Squares-Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA), and Orthogonal Partial Least Squares-Discriminant Analysis (OPLS-DA) were performed using the SIMCA-P software. Significant variables with a Variable Importance in the Projection (VIP) score higher than 1.0 as obtained through OPLS-DA and those that resulted in p-values less than 0.05 through one-way ANOVA were selected to verify the marker compounds. Among the 19 variables extracted, styrene, ${\alpha}$-pinene, and ${\beta}$-terpinene were selected as markers to indicate the origin of A. gigas. Conclusions: The statistical model developed was suitable for determination of the geographical origin of A. gigas. The cultivation regions of six Korean and eight Chinese A. gigas. samples were predicted using the established OPLS-DA model and it was confirmed that 13 of the 14 samples were accurately classified.

우리나라 수준점의 중력기반 정표고 결정 (The Determination of Orthometric Height based on Gravity in Korea)

  • 우리나라의 수직기준은 인천만의 평균해수면을 기준으로 전역의 수준점 표고가 결정된다. 현재 국토지리 정보원에서 제공하는 고시성과는 실제 중력의 영향을 고려하는 대신 정규중력식에 의한 타원보정량을 이용하여 수준점 간 높이차를 보정한 뒤 인천의 수준원점을 고정하고 최소제곱법을 수행하여 산출한 정규정표고이다. 하지만 우리나라의 경우 국토의 70%가 산지로 이루어져 있으며 지형의 기복이 심하고, 남-북 방향으로 뻗어있는 산맥을 가로지르는 수준노선이 있으므로 중력에 의한 영향을 무시할 수 없음에도 불구하고 아직까지 그 영향을 고려하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 항공중력데이터를 이용하여 각 수준점에서의 중력값을 산출한 뒤 수준점에서의 정표고를 산출하고 현재 우리나라에서 사용하고 있는 고시 좌표와 비교해보았다.

Qualitative and quantitative determination of oleanolic acid in a scalp tonic products by HPLC using response surface methodology for extraction optimization

  • The simple and effective analytical method for the quality control of a novel scalp tonic formulation has been developed and optimized in terms of HPLC conditions and sample preparation method, meanwhile, the optimization of preparation condition was using response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design (CCD). Oleanolic acid was selected as marker compound because of its bioactivities for alopecia therapy. The developed analytical method and extraction condition were successfully qualified. Coefficient of determination ($r^2$) for the calibration was 0.9997 with a line passing through the origin point in the range of 0.1-100 mg/mL. The limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantitation (LOQ) were 17.5 ng/mL and 55.0 ng/mL, respectively. The intra-day and inter-day precision of the method were 0.5-1.4 % and 0.7-1.8 % in relative standard deviation, respectively, while those accuracy were 99.5-100.9 % and 100.0-102.2 %, respectively. The repeatability of oleanolic acid in samples ranged of 0.3-1.9 % based on peak area and 0.3-0.7 % for retention time. Recoveries from samples were 95.0-99.4 % with lower than 1.8 % in relative standard deviation. Overall, the developed analytical method will be used for quality control of this commercial scalp tonic products successfully.

선택이온 측정법에 의한 십자화과 채소중의 Sulforahane 함량 (Determination of sulforaphane in cruciferous vegetables by SIM)

  • 한국인이 흔히 섭취하는 십자화과 채소와 백합과 채소중의 S-methylsulfinylbutyl isothiocyanate, 즉, sulforaphane 함량을 GC/MS로 분석하여 가장 많이 함유된 채소를 선별하고, 십자화과 및 백합과 채소에 속하는 20여종의 채소 용매추출물을 GC/MS에 주입하여 sulforaphane 표준품의 질량분석 스펙트럼을 근거로 선택이온 측정법 GC/MS (SIM)에 의해 정량하였다. 그 결과, 브로콜리에 $80.2{\sim}631.4\;ppm$으로 가장 많이 함유되어 있었으며, 그 다음으로 순무, 무청, 자색 양배추, 무, 케일, 흰색 양배추, 콜리플라워, 배추, 청경채의 순이었으며, 갓, 돌산갓, 무순 및 부추 그리고 달래, 골파, 양파 및 마늘 등 백합과 채소에는 함유되어 있지 않았다. 브로콜리 품종 중에서 sulforaphane이 가장 많은 품종은 'Pilgrim'과 '1243'이었다. 브로콜리는 식용부위별로 품종 간에 sulforaphane 함량이 달랐는데, 꽃에 가장 많이 함유된 품종은 'Pilgrim' 이었고, 대에 가장 많이 함유된 품종은 '1243'으로 700 ppm 이상의 sulforaphane이 존재하였다.

남극 드레이크 해협 피닉스 해령 P3구역 축부 해저현무암: K-Ar 연대측정과 지구화학 (Axial Seamount Basalts in P3 Segment of Phoenix Ridge, Drake Passage, Antarctica: K-Ar Age Determination and Geochemistry)

  • The axial seamount basalts in the P3 segment of the Phoenix Ridge were obtained from dredging and the K-Ar age determination and whole-rock geochemical analyses have been done for understanding their origin. The K-Ar ages for PRS basalts sampled from 1,000m below sea level are 2.6-2.2 Ma and those for PR3 basalts from 800m are 1.6-1.5 Ma. The younger ages towards the crest of the seamount indicate that this submarine volcano has been grown by central eruptions. The youngest age of about 1.5 Ma for PR3 basalts corresponds to the final eruption period of this volcano. The seamount basalts contain small amounts of normative quartz and olivine. They have transitional geochemical nature between alkaline- and subalkaline-series basalts. Trace and rare earth elements compositions of the seamount basalts are very similar to those of ocean island basalts (OIB), and indicate that this seamount has been formed by a hotspot activity, not in association with a seafloor spreading. The melting degree from the source has decreased with time, and finally the volcanic activity has stopped when the basaltic magma reached mild alkaline composition.

HPLC Separation of Isoquinoline Alkaloids for Quality Control of Corydalis species

  • A simple and rapid analytical method was developed for the determination of eight isoquinoline alkaloids in Corydalis species. Eight isoquinoline alkaloids, including 2 aporphine alkaloids (isocorydine and glaucine) and 6 protoberberine alkaloids (coptisine, palmatine, berberine, canadine, corydaline, and tetrahydrocoptisine) were used as chemical markers which have a various biological activity and determined for quality control of Corydalis (C.) species (C. ternata, C. yanhusuo, and C. decumbens). To evaluate the quality of these herbal medicines, LC chromatographic separation of alkaloids were preferentially investigated on reversed-phase C18 column with pH variation and composition of mobile phase. In addition, the separation of these alkaloids in herbal extracts was found to be significantly affected on mobile phase composition using gradient elution. Especially for C. yanhusuo extract, berberine was seriously interfered with other alkaloid extracted from sample matrix when mobile phase composition was not optimized. As results, these compounds were successfully separated within 28 min using 10 mM ammonium acetate containing 0.2% triethylamine (adjusted at pH 5.0) as a mobile phase with gradient elution. On the basis of optimized HPLC conditions, 23 different Corydalis species samples were analyzed for the determination of alkaloid levels. In addition, principal component analysis (PCA) combined with the chromatographic data could be successfully classified the different geographic origin samples.
