Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to develop a deep learning model to detect fire extinguishers in images taken from CCTVs in underground utility tunnels. Method: Various fire extinguisher images were collected for detection of fire extinguishers in the running-based underground utility tunnel, and a model applying the One-stage Detector method was developed based on the CNN algorithm. Result: The detection rate of fire extinguishers photographed within 10m through CCTV video in the underground common area is over 96%, showing excellent detection rate. However, it was confirmed that the fire extinguisher object detection rate drops sharply at a distance of 10m or more, in a state where it is difficult to see with the naked eye. Conclusion: This paper develops a model for detecting fire extinguisher objects in underground common areas, and the model shows high performance, and it is judged that it can be used for underground common area digital twin model synchronizing.

As online transactions increase, the image of clothing has a great influence on consumer purchasing decisions. The importance of image information for clothing materials has been emphasized, and it is important for the fashion industry to analyze clothing images and grasp the materials used. Textile materials used for clothing are difficult to identify with the naked eye, and much time and cost are consumed in sorting. This study aims to classify the materials of textiles from clothing images based on deep learning algorithms. Classifying materials can help reduce clothing production costs, increase the efficiency of the manufacturing process, and contribute to the service of recommending products of specific materials to consumers. We used machine vision-based deep learning algorithms ResNet and Vision Transformer to classify clothing images. A total of 760,949 images were collected and preprocessed to detect abnormal images. Finally, a total of 167,299 clothing images, 19 textile labels and 20 fabric labels were used. We used ResNet and Vision Transformer to classify clothing materials and compared the performance of the algorithms with the Top-k Accuracy Score metric. As a result of comparing the performance, the Vision Transformer algorithm outperforms ResNet.
Recently, diverse devices using different wireless technologies are gradually increasing in the IoT environment. In particular, it is essential to design an efficient feature extraction approach and detect the exact types of radio signals in order to accurately identify various radio signal modulation techniques. However, it is difficult to gather labeled wireless signal in a real environment due to the complexity of the process. In addition, various learning techniques based on deep learning have been proposed for wireless signal classification. In the case of deep learning, if the training dataset is not enough, it frequently meets the overfitting problem, which causes performance degradation of wireless signal classification techniques using deep learning models. In this paper, we propose a generative adversarial network(GAN) based on data augmentation techniques to improve classification performance when various wireless signals exist. When there are various types of wireless signals to be classified, if the amount of data representing a specific radio signal is small or unbalanced, the proposed solution is used to increase the amount of data related to the required wireless signal. In order to verify the validity of the proposed data augmentation algorithm, we generated the additional data for the specific wireless signal and implemented a CNN and LSTM-based wireless signal classifier based on the result of balancing. The experimental results show that the classification accuracy of the proposed solution is higher than when the data is unbalanced.

Recently, with the widespread adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology in the construction industry, various object detection algorithms have been used to verify errors between 3D models and actual construction elements. Since the characteristics of objects vary depending on the type of construction facility, such as buildings, bridges, and tunnels, appropriate methods for object detection technology need to be employed. Additionally, for object detection, initial object images are required, and to obtain these, various methods, such as drones and smartphones, can be used for image acquisition. The study uses a 360° camera optimized for internal tunnel imaging to capture initial images of the tunnel structures of railway and road facilities. Various object detection methodologies including the YOLO, SSD, and R-CNN algorithms are applied to detect actual objects from the captured images. And the Faster R-CNN algorithm had a higher recognition rate and mAP value than the SSD and YOLO v5 algorithms, and the difference between the minimum and maximum values of the recognition rates was small, showing equal detection ability. Considering the increasing adoption of BIM in current railway and road construction projects, this research highlights the potential utilization of 360° cameras and object detection methodologies for tunnel facility sections, aiming to expand their application in maintenance.

In this study, we photograph driving obstacle objects such as crosswalks, side spheres, manholes, braille blocks, partial ramps, temporary safety barriers, stairs, and inclined curb that hinder or cause inconvenience to the movement of the vulnerable using electric mobility aids. We develop an optimal AI model that classifies photographed objects and automatically recognizes them, and implement an algorithm that can efficiently determine obstacles in front of electric mobility aids. In order to enable object detection to be AI learning with high probability, the labeling form is labeled as a polygon form when building a dataset. It was developed using a Mask R-CNN model in Detectron2 framework that can detect objects labeled in the form of polygons. Image acquisition was conducted by dividing it into two groups: the general public and the transportation weak, and image information obtained in two areas of the test bed was secured. As for the parameter setting of the Mask R-CNN learning result, it was confirmed that the model learned with IMAGES_PER_BATCH: 2, BASE_LEARNING_RATE 0.001, MAX_ITERATION: 10,000 showed the highest performance at 68.532, so that the user can quickly and accurately recognize driving risks and obstacles.

This study primarily aimed to develop an automated stuttering identification and classification method using artificial intelligence technology. In particular, this study aimed to develop a deep learning-based identification model utilizing the convolutional neural networks (CNNs) algorithm for Korean speakers who stutter. To this aim, speech data were collected from 9 adults who stutter and 9 normally-fluent speakers. The data were automatically segmented at the phrasal level using Google Cloud speech-to-text (STT), and labels such as 'fluent', 'blockage', prolongation', and 'repetition' were assigned to them. Mel frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) and the CNN-based classifier were also used for detecting and classifying each type of the stuttered disfluency. However, in the case of prolongation, five results were found and, therefore, excluded from the classifier model. Results showed that the accuracy of the CNN classifier was 0.96, and the F1-score for classification performance was as follows: 'fluent' 1.00, 'blockage' 0.67, and 'repetition' 0.74. Although the effectiveness of the automatic classification identifier was validated using CNNs to detect the stuttered disfluencies, the performance was found to be inadequate especially for the blockage and prolongation types. Consequently, the establishment of a big speech database for collecting data based on the types of stuttered disfluencies was identified as a necessary foundation for improving classification performance.
In this paper, we propose an efficient image processing system to detect and track the movement of specific objects such as patients. The proposed system extracts the outline area of an object from a binarized difference image by applying a thinning algorithm that enables more precise detection compared to previous algorithms and is advantageous for mixed-mode design. The binarization and thinning steps, which require a lot of computation, are designed based on RTL (Register Transfer Level) and replaced with optimized hardware blocks through logic circuit synthesis. The designed binarization and thinning block was synthesized into a logic circuit using the standard 180n CMOS library and its operation was verified through simulation. To compare software-based performance, performance analysis of binary and thinning operations was also performed by applying sample images with 640 × 360 resolution in a 32-bit FPGA embedded system environment. As a result of verification, it was confirmed that the mixed-mode design can improve the processing speed by 93.8% in the binary and thinning stages compared to the previous software-only processing speed. The proposed mixed-mode system for object recognition is expected to be able to efficiently monitor patient movements even in an edge computing environment where artificial intelligence networks are not applied.
Road surface monitoring is essential for maintaining road environment safety through managing risk factors like rutting and crack detection. Using autonomous driving-based UGVs with high-performance 2D laser sensors enables more precise measurements. However, the increased energy consumption of these sensors is limited by constrained battery capacity. In this paper, we propose a fusion sensor system for efficient surface monitoring with UGVs. The proposed system combines color information from cameras and depth information from line laser sensors to accurately detect surface displacement. Furthermore, a dynamic sampling algorithm is applied to control the scanning frequency of line laser sensors based on the detection status of monitoring targets using camera sensors, reducing unnecessary energy consumption. A power consumption model of the fusion sensor system analyzes its energy efficiency considering various crack distributions and sensor characteristics in different mission environments. Performance analysis demonstrates that setting the power consumption of the line laser sensor to twice that of the saving state when in the active state increases power consumption efficiency by 13.3% compared to fixed sampling under the condition of λ=10, µ=10.
In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for predicting the number of apples on an apple tree using a deep learning-based object detection model and a polynomial regression model. Measuring the number of apples on an apple tree can be used to predict apple yield and to assess losses for determining agricultural disaster insurance payouts. To measure apple fruit load, we photographed the front and back sides of apple trees. We manually labeled the apples in the captured images to construct a dataset, which was then used to train a one-stage object detection CNN model. However, when apples on an apple tree are obscured by leaves, branches, or other parts of the tree, they may not be captured in images. Consequently, it becomes difficult for image recognition-based deep learning models to detect or infer the presence of these apples. To address this issue, we propose a two-stage inference process. In the first stage, we utilize an image-based deep learning model to count the number of apples in photos taken from both sides of the apple tree. In the second stage, we conduct a polynomial regression analysis, using the total apple count from the deep learning model as the independent variable, and the actual number of apples manually counted during an on-site visit to the orchard as the dependent variable. The performance evaluation of the two-stage inference system proposed in this paper showed an average accuracy of 90.98% in counting the number of apples on each apple tree. Therefore, the proposed method can significantly reduce the time and cost associated with manually counting apples. Furthermore, this approach has the potential to be widely adopted as a new foundational technology for fruit load estimation in related fields using deep learning.
