  • This study aims to establish the standards to give the design weight in case when developing equipment designs, by classifying products with similar purposes in accordance with the morphological characteristics and also extracting the typicality. Limiting the sampling group for the extraction of the typicality to a pendant-type and a ceiling buried-type through the preceding case study and consultation with experts, the survey was conducted for majors and relevant workers in six cities, sampling products released in Korea and Japan before May 2016. The 1st survey was about the Morphological classification, and the 2nd times about the extraction of the typicality while the 3rd one was about the classification of the morphological attributes. By drawing the design attributes based on the functional/morphological classification and formative principles, it aimed to establish the base of the future research on the measurement of design weight. The results of this study aim to efficiently establish the roles of design technology in accordance with changes in the lighting fixture market caused by the substitution of light sources, and also to draw the development direction to rapidly cope with the accelerated changes in lighting design types and corporate R&D.

  • This research examines the effects of perceived design personality on consumer responses such as attitude toward products and purchase intention. Furthermore, the study analyzes if the design typicality moderates the effects of design personality on consumer responses. The research results found that when consumers are exposed to a typical design, they are more likely to perceive sincerity and ruggedness at a higher level. On the other hand, consumers tend to perceive a higher level of excitement and sophistication, as they are exposed to the atypical design. Besides, competence and ruggedness have positive effects on buying intention in the case of a typical design, while sincerity, excitement, and sophistication have positive impacts on buying intention in the case of an atypical design. Lastly, competence and ruggedness are found to have positive impacts on design attitude more in the typical design than in the atypical design, whereas sophistication showed positive impacts on design attitude more in the atypical design than in the typical design. Additionally, competence has more influence on product buying intention in the typical design and excitement has more effect on it in the atypical design.

  • In the highly developing industrial society the design has been playing the central role in the managerial strategy of a company and has been one of the central agendas in determining the economical competence of a country, and it is also regarded as a means to acquire sustainable superior competence And these trends suggest that the esthetic value of a product has become more important than the technological function. In this study we review theoretically esthetic factors influencing the preference of a product, so that we can make a list of eight esthetic factors based on the various referential studies. They are simplicity, balance, unity, rhythm, style, novelty, typicality, and proportion. We research esthetic factors affecting consumers' preferences and evaluation of a product and typical esthetic factors specific to the characteristics of each product. Therefore, in this study we tried to provide available materials in developing product design by present of esthetic guideline and to put this materials to practical use in product design by finding considered elements and importance of esthetic factors which had important effects on the tastes of the consumers classified by manufactures.

  • Recently, design has emerged as a key factor of successful product development. This study reviewed the elements of form with a view point of addressing and defining the elements of aesthetics and how they influence consumer aesthetic response. Though past researches related to form aesthetics reported that form aesthetics exist as a single element with other sub-elements, this research made further investigations into form aesthetics and reported that form aesthetics in product design can be broadly divided into form aesthetics and content aesthetics. Empirical studies on each category was undertaken and from the results obtained, it was concluded that typicality is a dominant element in content aesthetics while rhythm is a dominant element in form aesthetics. Also, the study investigated the effect of conditional variables such as price and brand hierarchy on each category and it was observed that both content and form aesthetics elements are affected by conditional variables such as price and brand hierarchy, Furthermore, the study reports that both content and form aesthetics elements are mutually correlated and both categories affect user's aesthetics response. It is intended that the results obtained from this work will contribute to theoretical knowledge of aesthetic elements and can be put to use by product design and manufacturing companies.

  • Closely connecting Well-Being culture with our traditional eating culture. we can predict next generation Kimchi refrigerator trend with this research. In the highly developing industrial society, design has been playing the central role in the managerial strategy of a company and has been one of the central agendas in determining the economical competence of a country, and has also been regarded as a means to acquire sustainable superior competence. Thus, these trends suggest that the aesthetic value of product has become more important than its technological function. In this study we reviewed theoretically esthetic factors influencing the preference and the evaluation of a product and made a list of eight esthetic factors based on various referential studies which include simplicity, balance, unity, rhythm, style, novelty, typicality, and proportion. Also on the point of view of design, it is necessary to find out definitely the consumer preference frame the relationship among design preference design image design attribute. Will give you guidelines on which designers can select and design some more objective and reliable design factors, finding out the relation of cause and effect by which they can know what kind of product designs their consumers like and how the popular image which that product offer is composed of. We investigated the esthetic factors affecting consumers preferences and the basis for evaluating a product. Aimed at providing materials for developing product design by presenting an ,esthetic guideline product design by presenting an esthetic guideline and to put these materials to practical use. Investigated other considered elements classified by manufactures and importance of esthetic factors and its influence on consumer tastes . All of these result, It could not conclude all of the adjective design image and design factors of every consumer, but through consumer reaction framework consumer are response and prefer the products which design image have. and then understand prefered design image are influenced to design factor's and could be apply to new design development.

  • Health care service's added value and sustainability has been formed, through the product developing about sports equipment and special equipment for disabled in order to improve the life quality, with the increasing population of elderly and the attention about health care. This research's design and 3 testing sections has been done according to design process for design development of functional bike. 1st test is done through researching from 4 aspects: structure, aesthetic, function and using. In the 2nd testing, 10 universal design items were used to evaluate 10 modeling samples, and sample F which has high evaluation overall was chosen. In 3rd test, evaluation was done from the user service scene about the mock-up with 1/4 scale size. PPP (product performance program) which is constructed with 60 evaluation items about functional bike's service was tested, and these items were fixed through discussing with experts. Through the result we knew the aesthetic elements had relationship with proportion, unity and typicality. In 10 items (55 survey items), the scores of items with physical exposure's minimization, simple and intuitively usage showed high, on the contrary, the other items' scores was very low, such as information delivery's consideration and thought, failure preventing. The evaluation will be done once more by health care experts, designers and elderly together if the physical model could be made for getting accurate measurement about above test result in the future.

  • This study aims to present findings of historical design trends of men's fashion, and the characteristics of changes in the types of overcoats and mid jackets shown in French pattern books of the 19th century. The primary data sources for this study comprised one pattern book, each of the17th and 18th century, and 15 pattern books of the 19th century, all of which are conserved by the French National Library. The study methods are as follows: First, analysis of men's fashion trends and the characteristics of changes by type as shown in French pattern books of the 17th to 19th centuries. Second, analysis of the evolution of type of men's overcoats and top-exterior- and-interior (outside) styles shown in French pattern books of the 19th century. As a result, a total of 69 type references were collected from French pattern books of the 17th to 19th centuries. Historically, men's fashion was largely classified into top-exterior, top-exterior-and-interior, top-interior, bottoms and accessories. The two major classifications were as follows: top-exteriors overcoats and robes, And top-exterior-and-interior as top-exterior-and-interior(outside) and top-exterior-and-interior (inside). The study also identified the forms and changes by type. Additionally, this study selected overcoats and top-exterior-and-interior(outside) which fall under typical categories to show the change in the forms of men's fashion of the 19th century. These changes in the types were designated as: continued, faded away, newly appeared and transformed. This study analyzed the time of appearance of the forms by the year of publishing in conjunction with cultural references from previous domestic and international studies. The results showed that the time of changes in the types shown in pattern books did not deviate from the mainstream, which verified their typicality.
