A Study on the Diversity Scheme with Directional Antennas for Indoor Environments (실내 환경에서 지향성 안테나에 따른 다이버시티 기법 연구)

  • In this paper, we fabricated dual polarization microstrip array antenna to analyze the performance of polarization diversity of each antennas beamwidth and recommend suitable polarizations diversity antenna under indoor environments. The proposed antennas which have directional beam patterns are small, light and thin. Also they are $1\times4$ array and $4\times4$ array antenna with $70^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$ beamwidth, respectively. The center frequency is 1890 MHz, IMT-2000's frequency. We also measured the antennas characteristics of each beamwidth in various waveguide structured corridor and compared then with the case of space diversity using the dipole antenna. The measurement shows that the polarization diversity using directional dual polarization microstrip array antennas has more 1~7 dB diversity gain than the space diversity using the dipole antenna. Therefore, the proposed antennas are expected to be efficiently used for the design of optimal directional beam pattern antenna and diversity system for indoor environments.

Remote Communication of sensor data in Ballast Water Treatment System (선박 평형수 처리 시스템에서 센서 데이터의 원격 통신)

  • The ballast water may be discharged into another sea area with marine organisms, it caused problems to disturb the marine ecosystem. So, in order to remove these environmental risk factors, the IMO has mandated the installation of BWTS to the all ships. Our monitoring system diagnose and predict a failure of BWTS by analyzing the sensor information of BWTS collected from which the ships scattered in the ocean of several. This paper presents the design and implementation of communication modules for BWTS remote monitoring considering the satellite communication charge fee. In the our study, we implemented the safety and cost-saving communication modules by LabVIEW program. The collected sensor informations is encrypted and compressed by LabVIEW modules running on RIO. Then they will be transfer to the land server and will be decrypt to enable monitoring in the land server. For the verification, we build the test modules which can verify from collecting the sensor data to consuming them in the monitoring server. We carried out 20 times for the data pattern in all of case. So, we verified the excellent functionality and reliability through the experimental result.

A Broad-Band Metamaterial Absorber Using Flexible Substrate (유연성 기판을 사용한 광대역 메타 흡수체)

  • In this paper, the authors present a new design for a broad-band metamaterial(MTM) absorber that utilizes flexible substrate. The proposed MTM unit cell is constructed by a electric-inducive-capacitive(ELC) resonator and a cut-wire on the same side of the flexible polyimide substrate. To reduce the radar cross section at frequencies other than the targeted frequency bands, the metallic pattern layer of the proposed structure is placed facing toward the incident wave propagation direction. A prototype absorber was fabricated with a planar array of $33{\times}45$ unit cells. Our experiments showed that the proposed absorber exhibits a peak absorption rate of 92 % and 93 % at 9.06 GHz and 15.0 GHz, respectively, and 75 % of the full-width at half-maximum(FWHM) bandwidth is achieved. The proposed backplane-less MTM structure can be used for a broad-band microwave absorber and irregular surface applications.

Transmitter Design for Earth Station Terminal Operating with Military Geostationary Satellites on Ka-band (Ka 대역 군위성통신 지상단말 송신기 설계)

  • In this paper, we have designed the transmitter for earth station terminal operating with military geostationary satellite on Ka-band that is complied with MIL-STD-188-164A. The designed antenna of this terminal is dual-offset gregorian reflector which is consist of corrugated horn and iris polarizer, othermode transducer. This antenna meets radiation pattern and transmit EIRP spectral density requirements in this standard. The designed RF systems of this terminal are consist of Block Up Converter(BUC) converting frequency band from IF to Ka band and SSPA having low-power consumption and compact light-weight using the pHEMT MMIC compound devices. This RF systems applied with VSWR, spurious/harmonic suppression, output flatness and phase noise requirement in this standard.

  • The conventional semiconductor equipment has adopted SRAM module as the test pattern memory, which has a simple design and does not require refreshing. However, SRAM has its disadvantages as it takes up more space as its capacity becomes larger, making it difficult to meet the requirements of large memories and compact size. if DRAM is adopted as the semiconductor inspection equipment, it takes up less space and costs less than SRAM. However, DRAM is also disadvantageous because it requires the memory cell refresh, which is not suitable for the semiconductor examination equipments that require correct timing. Therefore, In this paper, we will proposed an algorithm for punctuality guarantee of memory-free inspection equipment using DDR2 SDRAM. And we will produced memory controller using punctuality guarantee algorithm.

  • This paper describes a design of the WAVE antenna system in V2X wireless communication systems for Intelligent Transport Systems. The WAVE standard protocols defined 5.825~5.9GHz frequency range for wireless communications with V2X. In a recent, A study of WAVE communication system it has been studied mainly the base station and the OBU technology in order to improve the communication performance of the communication distance. In this paper, the proposed vehicular WAVE antenna using the EBG structure is to improve performance. The proposed WAVE antenna with EBG shows improvement of return loss and radiation beam pattern. The performance of WAVE communication systems for intelligent transport systems is dependent on the performance of antenna. The proposed vehicular antenna for WAVE communication systems shows improvement of return loss for performance.

  • To provide a method for optimizing the variation range of the received power is applied to Adaptive Genetic Algorithm in a LED communication environment. By optimizing the power distribution dynamically for mobile or fixed using a genetic algorithm, to eliminate the need for a system design that is customized to be independent of the movement pattern of the user's adaptability, and environmental properties. It is possible to improve easily the convenience of the user. The room power deviation from any location can be reduced by reducing the energy. the simulation results, the proposed method does not exist obstacles in an empty room with power deviation $10.5{\mu}W$ decreased 10 percent to reduce the deviation of the received power is shown that. In comparison with conventional methods, convergence to the optimal value is improved, the genetic algorithm proposed was confirmed to be efficient in terms of energy savings.

  • The study explores how Korea's major newspaper cover about science news, especially how newspaper frame biotechnology news including new source, news construction ways, coverage trend. The research has a research design to find out coverage pattern or model with frame theory. The result shows that the newspaper has some aspect of frame through out the biotechnology development in the section, theme, source, complexity. The section has been expend to the society and international section, while the theme shift from disease or cancer cure to life itself, genome, or stem cell. In the complexity, the biotechnology news stories have been developed a story plot (event-problem-development-solution). In the climax, the news coverage focuses on the explanation of biotechnology news.

  • Data Mining is the process of finding hidden patterns inside a large data set. Cluster analysis has been used as a popular technique for data mining. It is a fundamental process of data analysis and it has been Playing an important role in solving many problems in pattern recognition and image processing. If fuzzy cluster analysis is to make a significant contribution to engineering applications, much more attention must be paid to fundamental decision on the number of clusters in data. It is related to cluster validity problem which is how well it has identified the structure that Is present in the data. In this paper, we design an adaptive data mining model using fuzzy performance measures. It discovers clusters through an unsupervised neural network model based on a fuzzy objective function and evaluates clustering results by a fuzzy performance measure. We also present the experimental results on newsgroup data. They show that the proposed model can be used as a document classifier.

High-level Modeling and Test Generation With VHDL for Sequential Circuits (상위레벨에서의 VHDL에 의한 순차회로 모델링과 테스트생성)

  • In this paper, we propose a modeling method for the flip-flops and test generation algorithms to detect the faults in the sequential circuits using VHDL in the high-level design environment. RS, JK, D and T flip-flops are modeled using data flow types. The sequence of micro-operation which is the basic structure of a chip-level leads to a control point where varnishing occurs to one of two micro- operation sequence. In order to model the fault of one micro-operation(FMOP) that perturb another micro-operation effectively, the concept of goal trees and some heuristic rules are used. Given a faulty FMOP or fault of control point (FCON), a test pattern is generated by fault sensitization, path sensitization and determination of the imput combinations that will justify the path sensitization. The fault models are restricted to the data flow model in the ARCHITECTURE statement of VHDL. The proposed algorithm is implemented in the C language and its efficiency is confirmed by some examples.
