A Study on Surrealistic Expression in Modern Fashion - Focusing on Surrealistic Fashion in 1990s -

  • At the outset, surrealism starts from pure art, but surrealism has greatly influenced commercial art and fashion circles, more so than any other genre of art. The critical thinking methods of surrealism and its mode of expression continues to influence fashion theory extensively. Even now, surrealism may be found in the designs presented in fashion circles and is still expected for future lines. Surrealism in modern fashion has been reborn, newly integrated and transformed, based on the features of Surrealism paintings. The characteristics of its forms can be found in a combination of modern material, modern design and new skills and the classical items : bodyform molding context of architecture, experimental and sex-appealing of body. Expression was made by borrowing natural motives and recreating natural fabrics while the existing typical idea about clothes was destructed, with the boundary of patterns changed. Expression was also made by mixing items, uniting future images, and using up-to-date functional techniques. This study is significant that up-to-date technological culture expands cyber-space and increases surrealistic expressions by combined heterogeneous materials, thus arousing much interest. The purpose of this study is to determine interrelationship between how surrealism developed and what formative properties those clothes affected by surrealism obtained in the 1990s.

Walter Van Beirendonck 패션에 재현된 펀 모티프 (Fun Motifs Represented in Walter Van Beirendonck's Fashion)

  • In general, the idea of fun is understood to be associated with interesting things, playfulnesses, joy, pleasure, etc. The "fun culture," which seeks enjoyment and pleasure through life, is a characteristic of elements observed in today's society and culture. This exerts a powerful impacts on the business operation, marketing, and product manufacturing. Moreover, it is accepted as one of remarkable phenomena representing the changing trends of fashion in the 21st century. The objectives of this study were to analyze and categorize the fun motifs observed in fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck 's collections, to examine their formative characteristics, and to establish academic approaches and analytic framework in studying the fun phenomenon emerging in fashion. As to research methods, this study laid a theoretical ground by reviewing the related literature and previous studies, and conducted a positive case study using the data on Walter Van Beirendonck's collections and exhibitions. According to the results of this study, the fun motifs represented in Walter Van Beirendonck's collections are largely categorized into "deviation from rules," "humorous and obscene graphic images," "introduction and transformation of heterogeneous elements," "women with male gender' etc. On the other side of Walter Van Beirendonck's fashion are sex, sexual humors, sexuality, fetishism, love, form, body, language, social phenomena, harmony between nature and life, consumerism, race, shamanism, tribal rituals, nation, cultural collision, transcendent things, science fictions, cyber Space, dream, alien, future, fairytale, fantasy etc. which are expressed by using fun motifs. Moreover, these themes are led to masculinity and fantasy.

유무선 네트워크기반 지하철역사 공기질 제어의 위험성 평가 (Assessment of Risk in Wireless-Wired Network Based Control of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in Subway Stations)

  • With increasing number of citizen using subway stations everyday, safety, health and comfort of passengers and occupants became an important social issue. Considering the fact that various physical variables and pollutants are related to indoor air quality (IAQ) which may cause health problem, IAQ need to be closely monitored and controlled in multiple locations in subway stations. This study is a continuation of the previous studies and delay induced in wireless-wired network is experimentally evaluated and the risk involved is assessed. In doing that, a key parameter is identified to be the network delay in different network media. Application of information-theoretic measure to assess the risk in network delay is then discussed. The idea is based on the general principles of engineering design and their applications to quantification of uncertainty in network delay. Experimental results show that more risk is involved in wireless data communication. Efficient and fast conversion of transmission data in both LonWorks/IP server and ZL converter is also noted.

  • 보안 공격에 대한 완벽한 방어 능력을 갖춘 시스템(IDS)은 없다. 왜냐하면 시스템의 모든 특성과 모든 공격 패턴을 수용한다는 것은 IDS 그 자체의 부하가 시스템에 많은 영향을 줄 수 있기 때문이며, 지능적으로 공격 패턴을 달리하는 많은 공격유형을 모두 인식할 수 없기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 보다 효율적이고 실시간 탐지가 가능한 IDS 시스템을 위해 서비스 거부공격에 대한 새로운 분류 체계를 제안한다. 이는 목적 지향적 시스템이 시스템의 운영상태를 범용시스템에 비해 명확히 할 수 있다는 생각에서 출발되었으며 각 운영상태의 변화는 새로운 사건에 의해 기인되며, 이 사건이 어떠한 범주에 속하는지를 확인하여 분류 속성에 따른 침입탐지 시스템을 설계에 활용할 수 있다.

Neural and MTS Algorithms for Feature Selection

  • The relationships among multi-dimensional data (such as medical examination data) with ambiguity and variation are difficult to explore. The traditional approach to building a data classification system requires the formulation of rules by which the input data can be analyzed. The formulation of such rules is very difficult with large sets of input data. This paper first describes two classification approaches using back-propagation (BP) neural network and Mahalanobis distance (MD) classifier, and then proposes two classification approaches for multi-dimensional feature selection. The first one proposed is a feature selection procedure from the trained back-propagation (BP) neural network. The basic idea of this procedure is to compare the multiplication weights between input and hidden layer and hidden and output layer. In order to simplify the structure, only the multiplication weights of large absolute values are used. The second approach is Mahalanobis-Taguchi system (MTS) originally suggested by Dr. Taguchi. The MTS performs Taguchi's fractional factorial design based on the Mahalanobis distance as a performance metric. We combine the automatic thresholding with MD: it can deal with a reduced model, which is the focus of this paper In this work, two case studies will be used as examples to compare and discuss the complete and reduced models employing BP neural network and MD classifier. The implementation results show that proposed approaches are effective and powerful for the classification.

  • The OPMT(Orientation-adjustable Patch-type Magnetostrictive Transducer) was proposed as a tool for generating and measuring the ultrasonic Lamb wave in plate type structures. This sensor has a lot of new features compared to the traditional piezo-type ultrasonic transducers. As an example, it does not need any kind of wiring for lunching or measuring ultrasonic waves. But it has also definite limitation for practical usage as a nondestructive testing tool in that it cannot help rotating the direction of ultrasonic wave manually. The idea for 'scanning OPMT' is proposed in this respect. Two kinds of basic ideas for rotating the wave direction not manually but electrically are proposed. The fabrication of the transducer and the testing for Identifying the primary characteristics are done for one of the proposed transducers. The results says that there are the possibilities as a new tool for NDE in that the proposed transducer follows well the characteristics of the traditional OPMT. But there are also the 1imitations to overcome.

  • 본 연구는 일체형 곡물 건조/저장 시스템에 채용되고 있는 Straight Type Sweeping Auger에 대한 성능과 적합성 검사를 실험을 통하여 검증하였다. 일체형 곡물 건조/저장 시스템의 핵심 기술은 선입선출을 가능토록 하는 Sweeping Auger의 설계기술에 있다. 바람직한 Sweeping Auger의 설계방향을 제시하기 위하여 Straight Type Sweeping Auger가 곡물 속에서 회전할 때 원주면에서 유동하는 곡물의 거동을 알아보기 위한 실험을 실시하고 결과 분석을 통하여 원인규명을 하였다.

Success Factors of Highway Construction Projects in Egypt: AHP Approach

  • While the idea of the existence of a set of key factors for success in planning, designing and construction of projects is not new, it remains one of the most important issues in the field of construction management. This is due to project success factors are inputs to project management practice which can lead directly or indirectly to project success. This study identifies the success factors which can be used for improving the highway projects performance in Egypt during the project pre-construction and construction phases. Through a detailed literature review 35 success factors are identified. Furthermore, the AHP is adopted to prioritize the studied factors through the application of questionnaire survey. The study establishes that implementing an effective quality control and assurance systems, allow sufficient time for feasibility studies, design, drawing and tender preparation, effective cost control system and frequency of project budget updates, preparing adequate designs and drawings and determining sufficient time to implement the desired scope of work are the most important success factors for enhancing the highway projects performance in Egypt.

두경부 재건을 위한 피판 선택에서 천공지피판의 역할 (Contribution of Perforator Flaps in the Flap Selection for Head and Neck Reconstruction)

  • In head and neck reconstruction, microsurgeons are faced with various demands, such as thin resurfacing, or three-dimensional reconstruction, and therefore, conventional flap as well as perforator flaps are all useful for the functional and aesthetic reconstruction successfully. Among perforator flaps, the pros and cons of anterolateral thigh perforator flap(ALTp) and thoracodorsal perforator flap(TAp) is compared and selected depending on the surgeon's preference, recipient site condition or patient status. Both flaps can be elevated in a chimeric pattern by combining different aspects of tissue components. Customized or tailored reconstruction as well as 3 dimensional reconstructions are all available with perforator flaps and it is useful in head and neck reconstruction. The most outstanding update in head and neck reconstruction is the perforator based island flap (PBIF) compared to conventional flaps. The conventional local flap has evolved on behalf of the perforator concept and its design becomes more flexible and freestyle with less limitations. Actually, random pattern flap is now a misnomer and most conventional local flaps turn into PBIFs. Finally we can say all conventional donor site becomes universal, depending on the surgeons' preference or idea. Moreover, there is no more "flap of choice" and postoperative results are quite variable by surgeons' ability. Operative procedures and plans are very flexible to freestyle flap. With all these advantages, surgeons should be armed with both conventional and perforator concepts for solving any defects or problems.

A New Framework of 6lowpan node for Neighboring Communication with Healthcare Monitoring Applications

  • The proposed technique uses cyclic frame structure, where three periods such as beacon period (BP), mesh contention access period (MCAP) and slotted period (SP) are in a data frame. This paper studies on a mechanism to allow communication nodes (6lowpan) in a PAN with different logical channel for global healthcare applications monitoring technology. The proposed super framework structure system has installed 6lowpan sensor nodes to communicate with each other. The basic idea is to time share logical channels to perform 6lowpan sensor node. The concept of 6lowpan sensor node and various biomedical sensors fixed on the patient BAN (Body Area Network) for monitoring health condition. In PAN (hospital area), has fixed gateways that received biomedical data from 6lowpan (patient). Each 6lowpan sensor node (patient) has IP-addresses that would be directly connected to the internet. With the help of IP-address service provider can recognize or analyze patient data from all over the globe by the internet service provider, with specific equipments i.e. cell phone, PDA, note book. The NS-2.33 result shows the performance of data transmission delay and data delivery ratio in the case of hop count in a PAN (Personal Area Networks).
