  • In order to develop high efficiency propeller for multicopter type UAV, we designed, analyzed and tested aerodynamic and structural dynamics. For the design of the high efficiency propeller, the optimum design method was applied for the determination of the airfoil and the three-dimensional planform is designed to reduce induced power of the propeller. The flight suitability of the derived shape was determined through structural design and analysis. The rotation test was performed to confirm the performance of the analytically designed shape. In this paper, we propose a procedural propeller design methodology using these design analysis test methods.

  • Stone column is a soil improvement method and can be applicable for loose sand or weak cohesive soil. Since the lack of sand in Korea, stone column seems one of the most adaptable approach for poor ground as a soil improvement method. However, this method was not studied for practical application. In this paper, the most effective design parameters for the being capacity of stone column were studied. The parametric study of major design factors for single stone column was carried out under the bulging and general shear failure condition, respectively. Especially, a test result of single stone column by static load was compared with the bearing capacity values of suggested formulas. The analysis result showed that the ultimate bearing capacity by the formula was much less than the measured value by the static load test. Especially, the result of the parametric study under general shear failure condition showed that the bearing capacity has apparent difference between each suggested formulas with the variation of the major design parameters. Therefore, the result of this study can be a suggestion which is applicable for the field test and the future research.

  • As the number of mobile apps increases exponentially, automation of tests performed in the app development process is becoming more important. Until the app is released, iterative verification is performed through various types of tests, and this study was conducted focusing on the GUI test among various types of tests. This study is meaningful in that it can contribute to the stable app distribution of the developer by suggesting the development direction of the GUI test. To develop Android's GUI test tool, I collected basic data before presenting the development method by researching Android's UI controls and Material design guideline. After that, for the existing GUI test automation tool, two tools based on screen capture test and four tools based on source code analysis test were studied. Through this, it was found that existing GUI test tools don't consider visual design, usability, and component arrangement. In order to supplement the shortcomings of existing tools, a new GUI test automation tool development method was presented based on the basic data previously studied.

  • Recently, it is increasing to use more Brushless DC Motor with high energy density permanent magnet and semiconductor control unit for complementing the mechanical defect of Brushed DC Motors. For designing of BLDC Motors are required complex parameters like as rated characteristic, Geometries, B-H curve of magnet and steel materials, winding factor, etc. Moreover, design and manufacturing are difficult because of additional control circuits. Generally, Design parameters are gotten by analysis of Motor which is used. And the design parameters are used to design a new motor. But getting the design parameters through the eyes and experience is limited and it takes a long time. In this paper a method is proposed to efficiently analyze motor design parameters through the No load and Load Test, Back EMF Test, Simulation Analysis and Patent Analysis Method for existing BLDC Motor for a cooling Fan in Vehicle.

  • In weapon systems development, live fire tests have been frequently adopted to evaluate the performance of the systems under development. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure safety in the test ranges where the live fire tests can cause serious hazards. During the tests, a special care must be taken to protect the test and evaluation (T&E) personnel and also test assets from potential danger and hazards. Thus, the development and management of the range safety process is quite important in the tests of guided missiles and artillery considering the explosive power of the destruction. Note also that with a newly evolving era of weapon systems such as laser, EMP and non-lethal weapons, the test procedure for such systems is very complex. Therefore, keeping the safety level in the test ranges is getting more difficult due to the increased unpredictability for unknown hazards. The objective of this paper is to study on how to enhance the safety in the test ranges. To do so, an approach is proposed based on model-based systems engineering (MBSE). Specifically, a functional architecture is derived utilizing the MBSE method for the design of the range safety process under the condition that the derived architecture must satisfy both the complex test situation and the safety requirements. The architecture developed in the paper has also been investigated by simulation using a computer-aided systems engineering tool. The systematic application of this study in weapon live tests is expected to reduce unexpected hazards and test design time. Our approach is intended to be a trial to get closer to the recent theme in T&E community, "Testing at the speed of stakeholder's need and rapid requirement for rapid acquisition."

  • The design process of the motor driven tilt/telescopic steering column is established by axiomatic design approach in conceptual design stage. By selecting independent design variables for improvin g performance of the steering system, each detailed design can be carried out independently. In the detailed design, the safety in crash environment and vibration reduction are considered. An occupant analysis code SAFE(Safety Analysis For occupant crash Environment) is utilized to simulate the body block test. Segments, contact ellipsoids and spring-damper elements are used to model the steering column in SAFE. The model is verified by the result of the body block test. After the model is validated, the energy absorbing components are designed using an orthogonal array. Occupant analyses are performed for the cases of the orthogonal array. Final design is determined for the minimum occupant injury. For vibrational analysis, a finite element model of the steering column is defined for the modal analysis. The model is validated by the vibration experiment. Size and shape variables are selected for the optimization process. An optimization is conducted to minimize the weight subjected to various constraints.

  • The butterfly valve has been used over all industries. It has been studied to improve its performance through the theoretical analysis and the test in industry. Though products adopted those improvements have been sold in markets, manufacturers often launch products without the life test. One reason is because of the long development period and financial difficulties. The other is the lack of the design and fabrication experiences on building the life test equipment. Thus, this study has been researched for the design and fabrication of our life test equipment, and developed and improved the equipment to check the leakage of the valve with the naked eyes during the test.

  • In this paper we propose a distribution-free rank test for ordered alternatives in a randomized block design and investigate the properties of the proposed test. The proposed test is an extension of the Page test to allow replications in each cell. Some asymptotic properties including ARE's are investigated. A small sample Monte Carlo study was performed to compare the powers of the test considered in this paper for small samples. The results show that our proposed test is robust and efficient in the case of equally-spaced treatment effects.
