Development of an Automatic Design System for Axisymmetric Hot Steel Forging (축대칭 열간단조를 위한 자동설계 시스템 개발)

  • A hot forging product in general is produced through buster, blocker and finisher processes. Usually the processes including dies are designed by experienced forging engineers. However, due to the lack of such engineers, it is necessary to develop expert systems with which engineers of little experience can perform the design task. In the present study, an expert system is developed for axisyrnmetric hot steel forgings. It is a rule based system written in Fortran and AutoLISP, operating on a personal computer. In this paper, structures of the system are summarized and capabilities of the system are examined through several examples.

  • A knowledge-based expert system has been developed implementing the ambiguous process of conceptual design of flywheels in earlier design stage to assist the selection of proper flywheel types and dimensions. Knowledge for the flywheel design consists of the rules for conventional as well as super flywheels and other informations required for the design process. Those knowledges were extracted from literatures and some experts in the field. With these knowledges, an integrated knowledge based expert system was developed to help users with informations and facilities to design flywheels interactively using a commercial package of knowledge-based system called INSIGHT2 of backward chaining and proprietary package of forward chaining written in LISP language. The developed system consists of the knowledge base part and calculation park : the first one consists of main module and user level modules and the other one is to assist in analyzing the stress distribution in the flywheels and deciding the flywheel dimensions and specifications for various types of flywheels using proper data bases and graphic facilities. With this flywheel design software, several examples were tried generating acceptable design results.

  • In this paper, we propose an expert system for electronic interlocking which enhances the safty, efficiency and expanability of the existing system by designing real-time interlocking control based on the interlocking table automatically generated using artificial intelligence approach. The expert system consists of two parts; an interlocking table generation part and a real-time interlocking control part. The former generates automatically the interlocking relationship of all possible routes by searching dynamically the station topology which is obtained from station database. On the other hand, the latter controls the status of station facilities in real-time by applying the generated interlocking relationship to the signal facilities such as signal devices, points, track circuits for a given route. The expert system is implemented in C language which is suitable to implement the interlocking table generation part using the dynamic memory allocation technique. Finally, the effectiveness of the expert system is proved by simulating for the typical station model.

  • In this paper, we describe the design and appliance of the preventive diagnostic expert system of gas in oil for power transformer. This expert system is developed to use expert system development tool; Element Expert (NEURON DATA Inc.) Analysis is developed by four diagnose methods. In first, the standard of KEPCO is applied. It classifies the state of transformer by four level: Normal, warning, abnormal and danger. And the others are gas pattern methods, IEC code method, and Dornen & Roger Ratio method and applied later. These latter methods analyse the cause of result. Inference engine was designed with Element Expert. In last, we operate the system with sample data and we can obtain the correctly inferred result for the state of transformer.

  • In this paper, the optimal design of a wind generator, implemented with the hybridized GA(Genetic Algorithm) and ES(Expert System), has been performed to maximize the AEP(Annual Energy Production) over the whole wind speed characterized by the statistical model of wind speed distribution. In particular, to solve the problem of calculation iterate, ES finds the superior individual and apply to initial generation of GA and it makes reduction of search domain. Meanwhile, for effective searching in reduced search domain, it propose Intelligent GA algorithm. Also, it shows the results of optimized model 500[kW] wind generator using hybridized algorithm and benchmark result of compare with GA.

  • The planning and design of healthcare architecture generally requires the participation and consultation of skilled experts since it has more complex space program than any other buildings. Therefore, the computer-based expert systems for the planning of healthcare architecture have been tried continuously. The recent development of BIM technologies and object-oriented CAAD systems is leading these attempts to realize gradually. Thus, this study attempts to verify whether the new evaluation model and system of the spatial layout, which are based on the validation of space program that developed in earlier studies, are applicable to real examples of design competition. Through this simulation, this study tries to find the possibility of expert systems for the planning of healthcare architecture and act as basic data for the development of new system for the integrated design environment based on BIM technologies in the near future.

  • The purpose of the research is to designing of web-based expert system in assessment, programming, evaluation for infants and young children with developmental disability. For this purpose, research articles such as curriculum-based assessment evaluation, web-based expert system, use of the computer technology in special education were analyzed. The design of web-based expert system for infants and young children with developmental disability connected with information analysis, optimum levels, data collection, data analysis, decision-making, and intervention.

  • Expert systems represent the application of artificial intelligence research that is at least 10-15 years old. It may well take another 5-10 years before the present technology is exploited by industry. The objective of this paper is to show the applicability of Combined Hypertext-Expert System Techniques to the professionals working in the construction industry. Expert systems alone don't give the user any control over the system. Hypertext systems that focus only on displaying messages have the opposite problem. While they allow the user to control the system., the only control the system designer has is in setting up the hypertext links. Therefore the combination of these two techniques, offered by KnowledgePro, may bring us closer to real user-expert communication. The system developed in this work offers information on ACI Manual concerning various problem areas in concrete practice, consultation about mix design of concrete and guidance to identify types of cracks in concrete. Once the type of crack is identified through the rule-based knowledge, the system provides the user with remedial measures through the control of the user.
