  • Purpose - As ahigher-order ability, improvisational capability is often employed to help a firm cope with unexpected or unanticipated issues. In light of the severe global business challenges and turbulent environmental changes, this study aimed to explore whether home-based network ties could shape the influence of improvisational capability on international entrepreneurship, alongside investigating the boundary conditions of competitive turbulence in their moderating effects. Design/methodology - The sample for the international entrepreneurship sector was obtained from the Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu. In September 2021, the questionnaires were sent to the targeted ventures and required the top managers to complete the survey by email or telephone. The final research sample comprised 113 international new ventures. To test the hypotheses, moderated hierarchical regression analysis was conducted. Findings - Our empirical results suggested that (1) unlike some previous literature, a positive effect of improvisational capability on the performance of international new ventures was not found; (2) home country-based networks (both political ties and business ties) are contingent factors that may partially stimulate the value creation of improvisational capability; and (3) in a highly competitive environment, the moderating role of business ties at home may become much stronger, however, the contingent role of political ties at home was not found. Originality/value - This study mainly concentrates on the two important types of home country-based networks, political and business ties at home, that may help international new ventures access strategic resources necessary for supporting the performance implications of improvisational capability. Thus, it extends the existing improvisational theory to encompass international entrepreneurship.

  • This paper decided the 3D shape of sandwich composite for the cradle of CT instrument, suggested the stacking sequence with satisfaction on structural criteria using the Finite Element Analysis, and introduced the manufacturing method to meet the X-ray transmission performance uniformly. The design of Cradle was considered the space between other parts, fixing method, and assembly condition with headrest part. It is decided the stacking sequence to meet the criteria that the deflection at the end point is less than 20 mm when it is applied to 135 kg load at the specific locations. In site of manufacturing method, at first, it is used the hand lay-up for carbon UD and carbon fabric/polyester resin, but it had the ununiform X-ray transmission performance due to the void and excess resin. For solving this problem, it was replaced with the infusion method for the first layer of face material and the application of carbon UD or fabric/epoxy resin prepreg for other layers. Therefor, the property of X-ray transmission was improved.

  • One of the primary factors limiting the application of composite-metal adhesively bonded joints in structural design is the lack of a good evaluation tool for the interfacial strength to predict the load bearing capacity of boned joints. In this paper composite-steel adhesion strength is evaluated in terms of stress intensity factor and fracture toughness of the interface corner. The load bearing capacity of double lap joints, fabricated by co-cured bonding of composite-steel adherends has been determined using fracture mechanical analysis. Bi-material interface comer stress singularity and its order are presented. Finally stress intensities and fracture toughness of the wedge shape bi-material interface corner are determined. Double lap joint failure locus and its mixed mode crack propagation criterion on $K_1-K_{11}$ plane have been developed by tension tests with different bond lengths.

  • It is very difficult to make complex 3 dimensional curved-shape composite laminates using the advanced unidirectional composite prepregs. This study shows development process of subscale composite parabolic antenna reflector using unidirectional AS4/PEEK prepreg tapes. The AS4/PEEK thermoplastic composite materials are known to have good thermal and chemical stabilities in addition to their high specific strength and modulus. Various lamination methods were investigated through finite element analyses to make up the laminate design of the reflector. The automated fiber placement method was used to fabricate the reflector. The thermal expansion test using full-bridge strain gage circuits was done to verity the performance of the composite product.

  • Additive manufacturing (AM, also known as 3D printing) applied to the construction industry is implemented and verified for various effects since advantages such as high design freedom, improving worker safety, and predictable construction period. However, due to the low maturity compared to the existing technology, studies are underway to solve new problems that occur in the overall of AM technology. In this paper, we confirm the effect of low construction surface flatness on the stacked features in the process of on-site AM construction. In particular, unstable AM features are determined through quantitative analysis by laser scanning, and a construction strategy is proposed for the surface flattening.

  • To study the eccentric compressive performance of the basalt-fiber reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (BFRRAC)-filled circular steel tubular stub column, 8 specimens with different replacement ratios of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA), basalt fiber (BF) dosage, strength grade of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) and eccentricity were tested under eccentric static loading. The failure mode of the specimens was observed, and the relationship curves during the entire loading process were obtained. Further, the load-lateral displacement curve was simulated and verified. The influence of the different parameters on the peak bearing capacity of the specimens was analyzed, and the finite element analysis model was established under eccentric compression. Further, the design-calculation method of the eccentric bearing capacity for the specimens was suggested. It was observed that the strength failure is the ultimate point during the eccentric compression of the BFRRAC-filled circular steel tubular stub column. The shape of the load-lateral deflection curves of all specimens was similar. After the peak load was reached, the lateral deflection in the column was rapidly increased. The peak bearing capacity decreased on enhancing the replacement ratio or eccentric distance, while the core RAC strength exhibited the opposite behavior. The ultimate bearing capacity of the BFRRAC-filled circular steel tubular stub column under eccentric compression calculated based on the limit analysis theory was in good agreement with the experimental values. Further, the finite element model of the eccentric compression of the BFRRAC-filled circular steel tubular stub column could effectively analyze the eccentric mechanical properties.

  • Each country has its preferred image and how to convey it effectively. The study aims to find traditional Korean makeup methods and ways to effectively convey a preferred image. Among the ancient manuscripts of Joseon Dynasty, the book " Galgap Collection " has ten ancestors who express their favorite eyebrows in the form of a grandfather. In this study, we applied tens of thousands of words to the actual model to solve the problem and make up the methods of literature, the Internet, and example. The model stimuli were measured by conducting a street experiment of 10 makeup experts and 70 men and women's blinds. The result was that the " Gaewon- .aemi " type seemed to be the best, attractive and most consistent with the shape of the thinking eyebrows and the current fashion of eyebrows. In a variety of nonverbal ways expressed in the classics, the study looked at ways to use visual poetry to communicate effectively. This research will help transform design ideas and help understand cultural trends of different times.

  • This paper describes the shaping formation and the erection of SCST structure by cable-tensioning. It could be a fast and economical method for constructing the space structure consisted with uniform pyramids by cable-tensioning of the cable in bottom chords. In the initial layout, the top chords and web members are left at their true length, the bottom chords are given gaps in proportion to the desired final shape. The feasibility of the proposed shaping method and the reliability of the established geometric model were confirmed with nonlinear finite element analysis and an experimental investigation on small scale and full size test models. As a result, the behaviour characteristic of MERO joint is very significant in shaping analysis of space structure. This study suggests the most reasonable modeling technique for the prediction of shaping in practices. And it is shown the characteristic of the behavior in shaping test for practical design purposes.

  • In this study, an experiment was conducted to confirm the applicability of the external shape control of the ultrasonic knife to the CFRTP material, which is the base material of thermoplastic. TC910 based on polyamide6 (PA6) was used as the material. The slope 와 and tool transfer speed of the material and tool were selected as process factors for processing, and the following results were obtained. Under all cutting conditions using an ultrasonic knife, friction heat caused by high-frequency vibration was issued at 150℃ at the contact part between the material and the knife during cutting. As a result of the cutting force analysis, the faster the transfer speed, the higher the cutting force as the angle of entry of the blade increased, and the size of the cutting force changed during cutting. As for the size of the burr in accordance with the transfer speed condition, the smallest burr occurred at 150mm/min in the side part, and the smallest burr occurred at 150mm/min and 200mm/min in the case of the outlet burr. The size of the burr according to the entry angle tended to decrease as the tool entry angle increased, and the side part tended to increase as the tool entry angle increased. As a result of the cutting surface analysis, it was confirmed that the base material was eluted under all conditions, and the faster the transfer speed, the lower the elution phenomenon of the base material. Based on the above results, cutting the CFRTP material with an ultrasonic knife is possible, but the effect on heat generation caused by friction needs to be minimized, and further research needs to be conducted on this.

  • With femtosecond (fs) laser pulse irradiation on metals, various types of nano- and micro-scale structures can be naturally induced at the surface through laser-matter interaction. Two notable structures are laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSSs) and cone/spike structures, which are known to significantly modify the optical and physical properties of metal surfaces. In this work, we irradiate fs laser pulses onto various types of metals, cold-rolled steel, pickled & oiled steel, Fe-18Cr-8Ni alloy, Zn-Mg-Al alloy coated steel, and pure Cu which can be useful for precise molding and imprinting processes, and adjust the morphological profiles of LIPSSs and cone/spike structures for clear structural coloration and a larger range of surface wettability control, respectively, by changing the fluence of laser and the speed of raster scan. The periods of LIPSSs on metals used in our experiments are nearly independent of laser fluence. Accordingly, the structural coloration of the surface with LIPSSs can be optimized with the morphological profile of LIPSSs, controlled only by the speed of the raster scan once the laser fluence is determined for each metal sample. However, different from LIPSSs, we demonstrate that the morphological profiles of the cone/spike structures, including their size, shape, and density, can be manipulated with both the laser fluence and the raster scan speed to increase a change in the contact angle. By injection molding and imprinting processes, it is expected that fs laser-induced surface structures on metals can be replicated to the plastic surfaces and potentially beneficial to control the optical and wetting properties of the surface of injection molded and imprinted products.
