An estimated 1 billion mobile phone were sold globally in the year 2006. In Korea, people watch television 3.17 hours in a day. Television isn't what it used to be. Digital TV provides both interactivity and high definition. Mobile phone also transferred from 2G to 3G or 3.5G. This means the complexity of TV and mobile phone is increased, design of user interface is more difficult. Unlike the personal computer industry, TV and mobile phone industries have no standard user interface. A comparative study for user interface between TV and mobile phone is studied. User, task, system are analyzed in requirement analysis. User interface model and interaction are also analyzed between TV and mobile phone. This study provides some insights for user interface design. First, the UI designer have to consider another products because one user using one product at the same time using another products. Experience for one product affects that for another product. Second, TV and mobile phone show very similar pattern, especially interaction task and input interaction. Third, there are not sometimes optimized experience between service operator and device manufacturer. Cooperative design between them is required.
Many museums have recently employed digital technologies in exhibition installations to provide visitors with interactive experiences with the installations, not just audiences. However, most of them have focused on the adoption of new prototypes or technologies, not considering user experiences of those systems carefully. This study developed an evaluation tool for usability of the tangible user interfaces and conducted a usability study on museum installations emphasizing user interaction and experience. The evaluation tool is composed of 5 features of tangible user interfaces such as tangible, interaction, convenience, representation, spatial interaction and social interaction, and 24 items. The museum we investigated is the Gwacheon National Science Museum, where 8 installations, classified 4 categories, were selected for the usability study. We recruited 6 undergraduate students, who were divided into 2 teams, each team having 3 students. Three students in a team manipulated and experience each installation together and reported their evaluation score through the questionnaire and interviews. The results showed that the score of the usability for the category 3, which requires students to move their bodies for the interaction, is the highest one because it features with spatial interaction. Students expressed much interest in the category 4, which utilizes users' other senses, however, the score of the usability is the lowest because the interaction is temporary and repetitive. Most installations are well designed in terms of control constraints, legibility, lower thresholds, participation encouragement, and open to the public, but pooly designed in terms of multiple access points, configurability, accurate movement, ambient media, and full-body interaction.
Interactive storytelling is a scenario created "on the fly" with digital content through user interaction. Every time interaction occurs between the user and content, a brand new story is created. Interaction intrigues people because it provides different story from same content. Through conventional media, people shared same content and experience. However through interactive media, people encounter unique experience, over same content possibly everytime they use it. People we, by their nature, very interactive being. However, interacting with media is not an activity that people are accustomed to. Hence, designing content has been all migrating experience from existing media to an unfamiliar ground. Unique and adoptive ways of designing content for digital interactive media is being sought out from the need as the result of the evolution of integrated society and emerging information technology. People are already used to some of interactive storytelling through hyper text in CD-ROM and web sites. More complicated and different structured models were born through games that offered graphics, virtual spaces and interactivity. When drawn onto a structural graph, few attributes and similarities seem to occur. This paper will try to outline and discuss structural graphs of interactive storytelling methods and suggest some ways for better storytelling design.
It has been indicated that the rotor/stator interaction has distinct causes of unsteadiness, such as the viscous vortex shedding, wake/stator interaction and potential rotor/stator interaction. In this paper, the mechanism of unsteady potential interaction in one stage axial compressor is numerically investigated for blade row ratio 1:1 and 2:3 at design point and for blade row ratio 2:3 at off-design point in two-dimensional view point. The numerical technique used is the upwind scheme of Van-Leer's Flux Vector Splitting(FVS) and Cubic spline interpolation is applied on zonal interface. In this study the flow unsteadiness due to potential interaction are found to be larger in blade row ratio 2:3 than in 1:1. The total pressure rise in blade row ratio 2:3 is closer to the real value in design point than that in 1:1. The change of unsteady pressure amplitude according to the variation of stator exit pressure is very small.

The design of experiment(DOE) with orthogonal arrays is adopted when the engineering design is needed in a discrete design space. In this research, a design process with orthogonal array is peformed to obtain the optimum design which satisfy the frequency target of the steering system. The optimum design is determined from the analysis of means(ANOM) and sensitivity information about design variables is evaluated by the analysis of variance(ANOVA). Interactions between design variables are investigated to achieve additivity which should be valid in using orthogonal array. It is shown that when strong interactions exist, the DOE process with orthogonal array considering interaction is introduced to find out optimum design.
This study aims to explore the relationship between the spontaneous interactions of office workers and their workspace layout. The spontaneous interactions are captured by the measures regarding the 'visual interaction' between workers in their desk layouts. The measures of visual interaction then are examined by means of the office layout or desk arrangement and the properties of work patterns according to the departments, such as general affairs, sales, research and development, and planning. The study finds four types of office layout ; Type 1 with low visual interaction between workers and high intensity of visual interaction, Type 2 with high visual interaction between workers and high intensity of visual interaction, Type 3 with low visual interaction between workers and low intensity of visual interaction, and Type 4 with high visual interaction between workers and high intensity of visual interaction. The study shows that the patterns of unintentional interaction between workers varies according to the property of work and office arrangement and it also argues that the patterns of office layout are different according to properties of work.

This study is intended to develop a Feature based modeler. It is difficult to integrate CAD and CAM/CAPP with information that is given only by a conventional CAD system. Therefore a lot of studies have concentrated on a Feature based CAD system. But conventional Feature based modelers have had limitation on providing sufficient information related to Feature interaction. If a Feature based modeler is to be used in assembly simulation, a new Feature-based modeling method needs to be developed. Also to support collision detection between parts, we have to handle Feature interaction systematically. Therefore we suggest Cell data structure which handles interaction of Features by volume. The volume created by Feature interaction is saved as a Cell. With the Cell structure we solve problems involved with Feature interaction. This study shows how the Cell data structure can manage Feature interaction and give enough information in assembly simulation.
