  • The recent increase in the production of 3D contents allowed viewers to experience various 3D contents. However, some of the viewers did not experience 3D depth well. Several researches were done in past to measure viewers' 3D depth perception, but these researches were done with certain limitations. In this paper, we measured viewers' 3D depth perception and recovery rate in relation with the changes in binocular disparities, saturation, and brightness values after subjects' watching 2D/3D contents. The results showed that when viewers watched the 3D content with positive binocular disparities for 42 minutes, viewers felt that the object seemed to have moved further forward than it was before; with 3D content with negative binocular disparities, viewers felt that the object seemed to be moved backwards. We found that the locational differences of the object in positive disparities were greater than those in the negative binocular disparities. The recovery rate was computed by comparing two measured values of before and after watching 3D contents for 30 minutes. On average, after 30-minute break, viewers showed roughly 50 % of recovery rate.

  • Generally we have difficulty in removing oil using mechanical devices because recovery rate and recovery efficiency decrease remarkably when operating in thin oil films or in oils of very high viscosity In the Present study a series of experiments were carried out to study the effect of operating conditions on the rate of recovery for the spilled oil using a drum type skimmer. For each set of experiments depth of immersion, oil film thickness and the circumferential speeds were varied systematically to find the effects on the recovery rate. The results shows that recovery rate is dependent on the contact angle for the depth of immersion and the highest rate of oil recovery shows in the case of a contact angle of 45°(h/d=0.15). For the removal of spilled oil the optimal circumferential speed can be found as the critical value to reach the saturated recovery rate for a given oil film thickness and depth of immersion. Even in thin oil thickness we have enough recovery rate and recovery efficiency within critical circumferential speed this way.

  • In virtual reality, there are increasing qualitative development in service technologies for realtime interaction system development, 3- dimensional contents, 3D TV and augment reality services. These services experience difficulties to generate depth value that is essential to recover 3D space to form solidity on existing contents. Hence, research for the generation of effective depth-map using 2D is necessary. This thesis will describe a shortcoming of an existing depth-map generation for the recovery of 3D space using 2D image and will propose an enhanced depth-map generation algorithm that complements a shortcoming of existing algorithms and utilizes the definition of depth direction based on the vanishing point within image.

  • For depth extraction from the focus and recovery the shape, determination of criterion function for focus measure and size of the criterion window are very important. However, Texture, illumination, and magnification have an effect on focus measure. For that reason, depth map has a partial high and low peak. In this paper, we propose a depth extraction method from focused images using the error interpolation. This method is modified the error depth into mean value between two normal depth in order to improve the depth map.

  • This paper addresses a problem of defocus map recovery from single image. We describe a simple effective approach to estimate the spatial value of defocus blur at the edge location of the image. At first, we perform a re-blurring process using Gaussian function with input image, and calculate a gradient magnitude ratio with blurring amount between input image and re-blurred image. Then we get a full defocus map by propagating the blur amount at the edge location. Experimental result reveals that our method outperforms a reliable estimation of depth map, and shows that our algorithm is robust to noise, inaccurate edge location and interferences of neighboring edges within input image.

  • The accuracy of Shape From Focus (SFF) technique depends on the quality of the focus measurements which are computed through a focus measure operator. In this paper, we introduce a new approach to estimate 3D shape of an object based on Gaussian process regression. First, initial depth is estimated by applying a conventional focus measure on image sequence and maximizing it in the optical direction. In second step, input feature vectors consisting of eginvalues are computed from 3D neighborhood around the initial depth. Finally, by utilizing these features, a latent function is developed through Gaussian process regression to estimate accurate depth. The proposed approach takes advantages of the multivariate statistical features and covariance function. The proposed method is tested by using image sequences of various objects. Experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed scheme.

  • The nanoindenter and AFM have been used for nanofabrication, such as nanolithography, nanowriting, and nanopatterning, as well as measurement of mechanical properties and surface topology. Nanoscale indents can be used as cells for molecular electronics and drug delivery, slots for integration into nanodevices, and defects for tailoring the structure and properties. Therefore, it is very important to make indents of desired morphology (shape, size and depth). Indents of different shapes can be obtained by using indenters of different geometries such as a cube comer and conical and spherical tips. The depth and size of indents can be controlled by making indentations at different indentation loads. However, in case of viscoplastic viscoelastic materials such as polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) the time dependent deformation (TDD) should also be considered. In this study, the effect of process parameters such as loading rate and hold-time at peak load on the indent morphology (maximum penetration depth, elastic recovery, transient creep recovery, residual depth pile-up height) of PMMA were studied for hyperfine pattern fabrication.

  • The recovery of reasonable depth information from different scenes is a popular topic in the field of computer vision. For generating depth maps with better details, we present an efficacious monocular depth prediction framework with coordinate attention and feature fusion. Specifically, the proposed framework contains attention, multi-scale and feature fusion modules. The attention module improves features based on coordinate attention to enhance the predicted effect, whereas the multi-scale module integrates useful low- and high-level contextual features with higher resolution. Moreover, we developed a feature fusion module to combine the heterogeneous features to generate high-quality depth outputs. We also designed a hybrid loss function that measures prediction errors from the perspective of depth and scale-invariant gradients, which contribute to preserving rich details. We conducted the experiments on public RGBD datasets, and the evaluation results show that the proposed scheme can considerably enhance the accuracy of depth prediction, achieving 0.051 for log10 and 0.992 for δ<1.253 on the NYUv2 dataset.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to discover the recovery process of those having had myocardial infarction. Methods: 15 participants with myocardial infarction were recruited by theoretical sampling methods. The data were retrieved through in depth interview, participant observation, and medical records of the patients. Collected data were analyzed through grounded theory approach of Strauss and Corbin(1998). Results: 63 concepts, 27 subcategories, and 11 categories were deduced from the open coding process. The recovery process of myocardial infarction showed to be a process of 'Controling healthy track', and chronological recovery process was a four-step process of recognizing disruption of healthy track, making efforts for controlling the disrupted healthy track, reconstructing the new healthy track, and adapting to the new healthy track phase. 'Controling healthy track' had three types of self-initiation, contention of reality, and fateful acceptance. Conclusion: The results provided basic information for nursing intervention strategies depending on 'Controling healthy track' process by each phase and different types.
