  • Substantial rates of comorbid anxiety disorders have been found using structured research diagnostic interviews in depressed outpatients. Comorbid anxiety disorders is underrecognized in routine clinical settings, in which clinicians usually use unstructured diagnostic interviews. Recognition of comorbid conditions such as anxiety disorders in patients seeking treatment for depression is clinically important because the presence of these disorders might influence selection of treatment options or predict the chronicity of the depression. A reliable and valid self-report screening questionnaire, such as the Psychiatric Diagnostic Screening Questionnaire (PDSQ), would potentially enhance usual clinical practice as a useful diagnostic aid.

  • This study investigated the differences between adolescents' own perceptions of their psychopathology and perceptions by clinically depressed parents of their adolescents' psychopathology. The study also examined parental characteristics that accounted for discrepancies between parents and adolescents. The clinical sample consisted of 61 adolescents and their parents who were diagnosed with a major depressive disorder. The adolescents and parents evaluated the adolescents' psychopathology in separate interviews with the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and the Youth Self-Report (YSR). Parents reported on current depressive symptoms and parenting practices using questionnaires. The results revealed that parent-adolescent discrepancies were greater in regard to affective and anxiety problems compared to oppositional defiant and conduct problems. Parental rejection was associated with differences in scores for affective problems after controlling for parents' current depressive symptoms and adolescents' age and gender. The findings highlight the importance of considering adolescents' affective and anxiety problems when treating depressed parents. Furthermore, the findings suggest that parental rejection may play a pivotal role when interpreting the discrepancy concerning adolescents' affective problems.

  • Basidia of Entoloma squamiferrum are developed from hymenium layer of cartor-shaped parabasidium. Apex of basidium is flat or depressed in the center. Although four sterigmata are developed, only two sterigmata are symmetrically swollen to two spores im certain basidia. It means that two sterigmata among four sterigmata are imfertil. A spore is formed by inflation of the apex of the sterigma. The apex of the sterigma is swollen into a paillaform and then turned into a penisform. It is swollen from a clubform into a globefrom. Six spots of the surfaces of globose spore are depressed with hilum axes. Finally the spore is cuboid, and then it is released from hilum.

During sandplay therapy, the adolescent exhibited the hero's journey and ego development. During the verbal therapy, the adolescent began to effectively express emotion based on his strengthened ego. He recovered his confidence based on self awareness which ultimately allowed him to resolve and overcome his internal conflicts.

  • Decursin, decursinol and nodakenin which were isolated from the root of Angelica gigas $N_{AKAI}$ (Umbelliferae) that is used as a botanical drug Dang-Gui (當歸) in Korea show following general pharmacologic activities. Decursin and decursinol increased the motility of the excised duodenum of the rabbit, but nodakenin did not. All of these three compounds depressed the heart contraction of the frog and blood pressure of the carotid artery and respiration of the rabbit. Decursin increased uterus contraction of the rabbit, but decursinol depressed it. And the tonus of the muscle of the earth worm was increased by decursinol, but was decreased by decursin.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the status of caffeine-containing energy drink consumption among Korean nursing students and to identify associated psychological factors. Methods: In total, 187 Korean nursing students participated in this cross-sectional study. A self-administered questionnaire was used to identify participants' general characteristics and psychosocial factors (self-esteem, academic stress, depression, and college adjustment) associated with energy drink consumption. Data were analyzed with SPSS using descriptive statistics, the $x^2$ test, the t-test, and logistic regression. Results: More than two-thirds (73.3%) of the participants had consumed energy drinks. Among the investigated psychological factors, depression appeared to most strongly influence energy drink consumption behaviors in this population. Conclusion: The consumption of caffeine-containing energy drinks was found to be common among nursing students preparing to become health care professionals; depressed nursing students were more likely to have consumed energy drinks than non-depressed students. Nursing educators should emphasize the early detection of unhealthy beverage consumption habits and provide appropriate education to enhance healthy behaviors in future health care professionals.

  • The contractility of isolated rat atria, suspended in Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate medium containing 5.5mM glucose, was depressed approximately 50% by 0.1 mM of lidocaine. Partial recovery of the lidocaine-depressed contractility was achieved by the metabolizable substrates pyruvate, acetate, and fructose, but not by addition of glucose. Glucose produced the dose-dependent increase in the force of contraction of normal atria, whereas pyruvate, acetate, and fructose produced no significant effect in the contractile activity of the normal atria. In the absence of exogenous glucose lidocaine produced more marked depression of atrial contractility than that in the presence of exogenous glucose. The results of this study may confirm that the utilization of cardiac glycogen is also inhibited by lidocaine at sites of the glucose phosphate isomerase step or step between glycogen to glucose-6-phosphate.

  • Purpose: Fracture of the frontal sinus accounts for 5-15% of all facial fractures. Only anterior table fracture occupies one third of the frontal sinus fracture. Conventional coronal approach is the standard treatment, but this method is very aggressive, especially in patient with simple, depressed, anterior frontal sinus wall fracture. We introduce new, simple technique for these patients, using small incision and Dual-top screws. Methods: A 27-year-old male patient was introduced to our department under the impression of fracture of frontal sinus, involving only anterior table. Under general anesthesia, 1.5 cm-sized, small incision was made on the suprabrow area. We reduced fractured fragment with two dual-top screws and 25G wires. Fixation was not necessary Results: The operation took about forty minutes, and the patient discharged 2 days after the operation. Postoperative 2 months follow up CT shows maintenance of reduction site. Gross depression of the forehead and visible scar was not observed. Conclusion: Although the indication of this procedure is limited, less aggressive, simple and very effective to the patient with simple. depressed, anterior frontal sinus fracture.
