Visual MODFLOW was used for quantifying stream-aquifer interactions caused by seasonal groundwater pumping. A hypothetical conceptual model was assumed to represent a stream-aquifer system commonly found in Korea. The model considered a two-layered aquifer with the upper alluvium and the lower bedrock and a stream showing seasonal water level fluctuations. Our results show that seasonal variation of the stream depletion rate (SDR) as well as the groundwater depletion depends on the stream depletion factor (SDF), which is determined by aquifer parameters and the distance from the pumping well to the stream. For pumping wells with large SDF, groundwater was considerably depleted for a long time of years and the streamflow decreased throughout the whole year. The impacts of return flow were also examined by recalculating SDR with an assumed ratio of immediate irrigation return flow to the stream. Return flow over 50% of pumping rate could increase the streamflow during the period of seasonal pumping. The model also showed that SDR was affected by both the conductance between the aquifer and the stream bed and screen depths of the pumping well. Our results can be used for preliminary assessment of water budget analysis aimed to plan an integrated management of water resources in riparian areas threatened by heavy pumping.

In this paper, silicon solar cells are analyzed regarding power conversion efficiency by changed capacitance in the depletion region. For the capacitance control in the depletion region of silicon solar cell was applied for 10, 20, 40, 80, 160 and 320 Hz frequency band character and alternating current(AC) voltage with square wave of 0.2~1.4 V. Academically, symmetry formation of positive and negative change of the p-n junction is similar to the physical effect of capacitance. According to the experiment result, because input of square wave with alternating current(AC) voltage could be observed to changed capacitance effect by indirectly method through non-linear power conversion (Voltage-Current) output. In addition, when input alternating current(AC) voltage in the silicon solar cell, changed capacitance of depletion region with the forward bias condition and reverse bias condition gave a direct effect to the charge mobility.

We present preliminary results on the chemical differentiation of two dense gas tracers CS and $N_2H^+$ in five 'evolved' starless cores, L1544, L1552, L1689B, L694-2 and L1197, using our mapping observations in $C^{34}S$(J=2-1) and $N_2H^+$(J=1-0) with Nobeyama 45-m telescope. We compared the intensity maps of two molecular lines with 850 ${\mu}m$ continuum data which precisely trace the density distribution of the dense cores, finding that all of our targets show the central depletion holes in CS distribution, but the similar distribution in $N_2H^+$ to the one in dust continuum. Our data confirm the claim that CS molecule generally deplete out in the central region in starless cores, while $N_2H^+$ keep abundant as they get evolved. The detailed quantitative analysis on CS depletion in the dense cores, for example, the size of CS depletion area and radial (or gas density) dependence of CS depletion, is underway and will be presented in the meeting.

Excellent employees are those who take on extra responsibilities and commitments at work. Hence, employees must pay attention to out-of-role activities that can help the company perform better. When a person takes on more responsibilities than he can handle, they will have to deal with the issue of work-family balance. This paper examines how the consistency of WFC affects employees' organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) using the Resource Conservation Theory. This study uses empirical research methodologies to assess 417 employees as a sample. (1) When the matches of work-to-family conflict (WFC) and family-to-work conflict (FWC) are consistent, the employee self-control resource depletion level is lower, and OCB is higher in the "high-high" consistency matching state. (2) The "low-high" match had a higher OCB than the "high-low" match when the WFC and FWC matches were inconsistent. (3) In the process of WFC affecting OCB, the depletion of self-control resources acts as a mediating factor. (4) Emotional intelligence plays a moderating role in the whole model. The lower the emotional intelligence was, the stronger the positive relationship between the consistency of WFC, FWC, and self-control resource depletion was.

RBMK fuel assemblies differ from other LWR FA due to a specific arrangement of the fuel rods, the low enrichment, and the used burnable absorber - erbium. Therefore, there is a challenge to adapt modeling tools, developed for other LWR types, to solve RBMK problems. A set of 10 different depletion simulation schemes were tested to estimate the impact on reactivity and spent fuel composition of possible SCALE code options for the neutron transport modelling and the use of different nuclear data libraries. The simulations were performed using cross-section libraries based on both, VII.0 and VII.1, versions of ENDF/B nuclear data, and assuming continuous energy and multigroup simulation modes, standard and user-defined Dancoff factor values, and employing deterministic and Monte Carlo methods. The criticality analysis with burn-up credit was performed for the SFP loaded with RBMK-1500 FA. Spent fuel compositions were taken from each of 10 performed depletion simulations. The criticality of SFP is found to be overestimated by up to 0.08% in simulation cases using user-defined Dancoff factors comparing the results obtained using the continuous energy library (VII.1 version of ENDF/B nuclear data). It was shown that such discrepancy is determined by the higher U-235 and Pu-239 isotopes concentrations calculated.
The depletion of thin liquid films due to the combined effect of centrifugation, surface roughness, and air-shear has recently been studied. While surface roughness of a rotating solid disk can be represented by deterministic cures, it has been argued that spatial random processes provide a more realistic description. Chiefly because of surface roughness, there is an asymptotic limit of retention of a thin film flowing on the rotating disk. The aim of this article is to model the depletion of thin-film flow and analyze the interplay of centrifugation, surface tension, viscosity, air-shear, disjoining pressure, and surface roughness that affect the depletion of the film. Also, the robustness of stochastic description of surface roughness is examined.
This paper utilizes a life-cycle overlapping-generations model to quantify the welfare effects of plans to postpone the depletion of the National Pension Fund. In order for the model to incorporate the rapidly changing demographic structure of Korea fully, we build and calibrate a model in transition directly. The model is considered suitable for analyzing the effects of demographic changes on the Korean economy and the effects of plans to change the National Pension System. According to a simulation of the model, to postpone the depletion of the National Pension Fund for 30 years, the premium rate must be increased to 18.3% from the current rate of 9%. By postponing the depletion of the fund reserve, young and future generations gain significantly at the expense of the older generations. The simulation results should be, however, interpreted as meaning that the current system is unjustifiably partial to the older generations. Moreover, given the current premium rate, it is desirable to strengthen the income-redistribution function of the National Pension System.
In this paper, we select important fission products for the estimation of the source term during a severe accident of a PWR. The selection is based on the numerical results obtained from depletion calculations for the typical PWR fuel via the in-house code named DEGETION (Depletion, Generation, and Transmutation of Isotopes on Nuclear Application), release fractions of the fission products derived from NUREG-1465, and effective dose conversion coefficients from ICRP 119. Then, for the selected fission products, we obtain the adjoint solutions of the Bateman equations for radioactive decay in order to determine the importance of precursors producing the aforementioned fission products via radioactive decay, which would provide insights into the assumption used in MACCS 2 for a level 3 PSA analysis in which up to six precursors are considered in the calculations of radioactive decays for the fission product after release from the reactor.

A diesel engine oil formulated in KRICT and a commercial diesel engine oil (API CG-4) were tested by car and their Kinematic Viscosity, TAN, TBN, metal content, additive depletion, anti-wear property and IR analysis were analyzed. From the research, both of the tested oils had almost the same properties f3r the change of TAN and TBN, but the change of Kinematic Viscosity of formulated oil was slightly higher than that of commercial oil. The iron content in the commercial oil increased rapidly from 7000 km while that of the formulated oil was still low. These results were confirmed by the anti-wear test with a 4-ball wear test machine for the each samples. Also, for the commercial oil, the depletion factor of the Zn-DTP which was added as an anti-wear property did not change any more after 7000 km. But, that of the formulated oil changed continuously to 8000 km, which means that the ability to prevent wear of the sliding pairs exists for the formulated oil. From the analysis results of oil properties obtained by field test, it was found that the commercial oil could be used only within 7000 km, but the formulated oil could be used more than 8000 km without severe wear of the sliding parts in the diesel engine.
Purpose: The vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) in mature animals have implicated to play a major role in the progression of cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis. This study aimed at optimizing the protocol in culturing primary VSMCs (pVSMCs) from rat thoracic aorta and investigating the effect of cellular zinc (Zn) deficiency on cell proliferation of the isolated pVSMCs. Methods: The thoracic aorta from 7-month-old Sprague Dawley rats was isolated, minced and digested by the enzymatic process of collagenase I and elastase, and then inoculated with the culture Dulbecco Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) at 37℃ in an incubator. The primary cell culture morphology was observed using phase-contrast microscopy and cellular Zn was depleted using Chelex-100 resin (extracellular zinc depletion only) or 3 µM N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-pyridinylmethyl)-1,2-ethanediamine (TPEN) (extracellular and intracellular zinc depletion). Western blot analysis was used for the detection of SM22α and calponin as smooth muscle cell marker proteins and von Willebrand factor as endothelial cell marker protein to detect the culture purity. Cell proliferation by Zn depletion (1 day) was measured by MTT assay. Results: A primary culture protocol for pVSMCs from rat thoracic aorta was developed and optimized. Isolated cultures exhibited hill and valley morphology as the major characteristics of pVSMCs and expressed the smooth muscle cell protein markers, SM22α and calponin, while the endothelial marker von Willebrand factor was hardly detected. Zn deprivation for 1 day culture decreased rat primary vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation and this pattern was more prominent under severe Zn depletion (3 µM TPEN), while less prominent under mild Zn depletion (Chelexing). Conclusion: Our results suggest that cellular Zn deprivation decreased pVSMC proliferation and this may be involved in phenotypic modulation of pVSMC in the aorta.
