Purpose: The repeatability of a new Red-Blue phoria chart test (Red-Blue phoria chart; RBP) was appreciated. Methods: Distance (5 m) and near (40 cm) heterophoria was measured in 38 visually normal subjects. Phoria tests using RBP, Howell phoria card (HP), and MIM card (MIM) were done and the repeatability of each phoria test was compared with one another. Results: The mean of horizontal deviations was that RBP was $-0.602{\pm}0.727{\Delta}$, HP was $-0.865{\pm}1.051{\Delta}$, and MIM was $-1.501{\pm}1.346{\Delta}$, at distance, and that RBP was $-2.566{\pm}2.352{\Delta}$, HP was $-2.804{\pm}2.411{\Delta}$, MIM was $-3.838{\pm}2.603{\Delta}$, at near. The repeatability was RBP>MIM>HP in distance tests and MIM>RBP>HP in near tests. Conclusions:RBP test is identified as a reliable phoria test having high repeatability.
Purpose: To investigate request for optical shop startup education of ophthalmic optics students as a basic source for startup education. Methods: Total of 287 students' from three ophthalmic optics college in Kyung-gi region was surveyed and analyzed the data using SPSS analysis. Results: Most students didn't have experience of optical shop startup business education (94.4%). However, the request of startup education was very high (89.9%) and there was significant difference according to grade (p<0.01). The most wanted education for the student who want to opening a shop was a lecture related to finding best place for the shop. For importances of select a site and purchasing information of frame, lens, contact lens in startup education were significant difference according to correction of visual acuity (p<0.001, p<0.05) and optician family present (p<0.05, p<0.001). For importance of customer management and publicity activities was significant difference according to correction of visual acuity (p<0.05). Conclusions: For request of optical shop startup education was very high and need to having startup education.
Purpose: A soft contact lens was manufactured by adding naringin known as natural anti-bacterial material to resin solution. With solution eluted from manufactured contact lens, we examined its optical properties, physical and chemical states of naringin in the polymer, and elution properties. Methods: The soft contact lens with naringin was synthesized by bulk polymerization method. IR spectrum and HPLC were used to define the bonding type of naringin itself in the soft contact lens contained naringin, elution process of naringin to the saline solution, and the amount of naringin solution eluted from the lens with elapsed time. Results: Naringin was continuously eluted with constant concentration from the soft contact lens for about a month and the structure ofnaringin which is eluted was as same as before it was added to resin solution. Any change in optical properties such as transmittance couldn't be found. Bonding state and the structure of naringin in contact lens were explained with IR spectrum and HPLC results. Conclusions: In the contact lens with naringin, naringin remained in the contact lens bonding with weak hydrogen bonding and/or van der Waals force between naringin and polymer. Naringin was continuously eluted from the contact lens contained naringin during about 1 month. Even after 1 month, it showed that the concentration of the naringin eluted was approximately 10 ppm in a day. From the results, adding naringin to the soft contact lens resin is very effective method for manufacturing the soft contact lens which has anti-bacterial function for a period of time.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of stray light originating from the blue-light blocking lens on the quality of the image. After designing the ideal spectacle lens, anti-reflection spectacle lens without internal reflection, anti-reflection spectacle lens with internal reflection, and blue-light blocking lens with internal reflection, the light intensity distribution and stray light distribution were derived. The designed spectacle lenses are meniscus lenses with a refractive power of 0.00 D, refractive index of 1.56, and a radius of 155.15 mm. The peaks of reflectance of the 4 types of blue-light blocking lenses are in the range between 430 nm and 440 nm, and their reflectances are 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, respectively. According to the analysis results, as the reflectance of the blue-light blocking lens increases, the light intensity in the center of the lens decreases and the intensity of the stray light in the center-periphery and periphery of the lens increases. This trend appeared to intensify with increasing reflectance of the blue-light blocking lenses. Because the increase in the reflectance of the blue-light blocking lens degrades the quality of the image by increasing the intensity of the stray light in the center-periphery and periphery of the lens, its reflectance needs to be adjusted by varying the blue-light blocking ratio and the luminous transmittance, in order to diminish the level of visual discomfort.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of vision training using MYSTERY CIRCLE system on patients with exophoria and intermittent extropia. Mehtods: The vision training observation group consists of 26 clients who had exophoria (n=18) and intermittent extropia (n=8) without opthalmic diseases or vertical phoria. Our clients took each vision training once a week for eight weeks and were investigated for the symptoms changes of binocular vision. Results: According to the results, MISTERY CIRCLE vision training methods improved the binocular vision function and sensation symptoms. For Worth 4 Dot test, Titmus test and red lenses showed fusion rate changes. Conclusions: The study proved that MISTERY CIRCLE vision training system for patients with binocular vision was effective for the improvement of the binocular vision symptoms of these patients.

Purpose: This study was designed to compare the relative accommodation, the accommodative facility, and the addition whose 40's initial presbyopia divided into five occupations (driver, official worker, housewife, field worker, teacher). Methods: We measured the values of near point convergence (NPC), positive relative accommodation (PRA), negative relative accommodation (NRA), accommodative facility, and addition. Results: Official worker group had lower PRA, higher NRA, and lower accommodative facility compared with them of the other groups. The average of addition was as follows: official worker > driver > field worker > housewife > teacher. Conclusions: Because the difference of working environment based on occupation affects the accommodative functions and addition, it is important to consider the patient's occupation when opticians measure the addition for near vision of initial presbyopia.
Purpose: The objective of this study is to compare and analyze the wearing status of refractive error correction devices of elders who reside in a city or in a small town district. Methods: Each of opticians from a small town or a city was selected for the study of wearing status of presbyopia correction device for each residential district in units of percentage. with the analysis of the age and gender distributions of the elders, numbers of elderly members, and the kinds of presbyopia correction. Results: The wearing rate of progressive lens was reduced in reverse proportion to the increase of the age for the people of presbyopia in a twon. Pepople in 60s living in a town perferred to wearing bifocal lens, but people of 50~60s preferred to single vision lenses. However, none of people living in a city who is diagnosed as presbyopia had refractive error correction device, and no one used bifical lenses. The progressive lens was mostly used in the people of 40~50s and using rate of those lenses reduced with the age; and single vision lens had the highest rate of in the 40~50s but no one wore it in the 70s. Conclusions: Among the refractive error correction devices, the progressive lens was most widely worn by presbyopia group who is living in a town or a city. In particular, the refractive error correction devices were most preferred in 40~50s of early presbyopia. The highest preference for the progressive lens in the people with the early presbyopia indicates that the wearing rate of the progressive will be increased in future. Therefore, the opportunity of systematic education on the progressive lens should be increased.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide useful information for evaluating the sensory function of patients with strabismus by identifying the distribution of anomalous retinal correspondence (ARC) and normal retinal correspondence (NRC) by the degree of refractive errors and deviation angles. Methods: Objective refraction (AR/K, Cannon RK-F1, Japan) and subjective refraction tests were performed on 56 subjects (male: 26, female: 30) by an examiner; objective deviation angle was measured using synoptophore (OCULUS Synoptophore, Germany) with subject' eyes fully corrected for distance, and then subjective deviation angle was measured. Results: In all groups with refractive errors, the number of ARC was larger than that of NRC(67%). Particularly, it was largest in groups with myopia (71%), and in all groups, the number of UARC was larger than that of HARC. In groups with anisometropia, although the numbers of NRC and ARC were same, the number of UARC was larger than that of HARC as in other groups. In the distribution of NRC and ARC by deviation angle, the number of NRC was larger than that of ARC (46%) only at microstrabismus (0 ~ ${\pm}10{\triangle}$). Conclusions: Normal retinal correspondence were the most emmetropia in the retinal response were much higher than in the more hyperopia than the retinal correspondence were more myopia. In addition, the smaller the angle of retinal correspondence Normal over many, but overall, respectively.
