구아바 잎 추출액을 이용한 직물의 천연염색 III - 한지면직물의 염색성과 기능성 - (Natural Dyeing of Fabrics with Guava (Psidium guajava L.) Leaf Extract III - Dyeability and Functional Property of Hanji Cotton Fabrics -)

  • The natural dyeing of hanji cotton fabrics with guava leaf extract was investigated. The temperature and time of dyeing were $40^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$ for eighty minutes, respectively. In addition, the dyebath has been set at pH 5. Sn pre-mordanted fabrics showed the highest K/S value. Regardless of dyeing temperature, K/S values were high when Al, Cu, Fe-mordanted fabrics were dyed in post-mordanting and Sn-mordanted fabrics in pre-mordanting. The dyeing equilibrium was shown at the fourth time of repeated dyeing. In the processing of hanji cotton fabrics, K/S value was high when hanji cotton fabric was treated with soybean milk at $90^{\circ}C$. Similar K/S value of dyeing was shown when fabrics were processed with chitosan, regardless of dyeing temperature. High K/S value of dyeing was seen when fabrics processed with gallnut tannin at 40. Fabrics dyed with acidic water extract showed yellowish color. Fabrics dyed with alkaline water extract showed reddish color, and fabrics dyed with ethanol extract showed greenish yellow color. In case of Sn-mordanted fabrics, the washing fastness level was between 3 to 4, and other dyed fabrics showed low fastness. The dry cleaning fastness also showed very excellent result with level 4-5. The rubbing fastness of the fabrics was better in dry rubbing than in wet rubbing. For the light fastness, all dyed fabrics showed low fastness. For antibacterial activity, the dyed fabrics with guava leaf extract showed 99.9% of high antibacterial activity. Hanji cotton fabric maintained certain deodorization in the state of raw fabric. All dyed fabrics showed higher UV protection rate than control fabric.

Fabrics dyed with alkaline water extract showed reddish color. Sn-mordanted fabrics dyed with acidic water extract showed vivid yellowish color, and Cu-mordanted fabrics dyed with ethanol extract showed yellowish green color. In case of Sn-mordanted fabrics, the washing fastness was level 4. The dry cleaning fastness also showed very excellent result with level 4-5. The rubbing fastness was better in dry rubbing than in wet rubbing of the fabrics. For the light fastness, all dyed fabrics showed low fastness. For antibacterial activity, the powder of guava leaf extract and the dyed fabrics with guava leaf extract showed 99.9% of high antibacterial activity. All dyed fabrics showed higher deodorization and UV protection rate than control fabric.

스포츠 클라이밍 의류 구매 및 착용실태 (A Study on the Purchasing and Wearing Conditions of Sports Climbing Wear)

  • This study conducted a survey of members at sports climbing centers on the purchasing and wearing conditions of sports climbing wear and design preferences. 140 participants were in their 20's and 30's, and many of them engaged in sports climbing activities over 20 times a month. They put emphasis on the motion adaptability, durability, price and functional material when purchasing a climbing wear. However, only 23% of them used sports climbing wear. The reasons for wearing sports climbing wears were suitability for physical activity, comfort, and design. On the other hand, the reasons for not purchasing them were expensive prices and lack of designs. They experienced inconveniences at sleeves and waist in shirts. In case of pants, participants experienced inconveniences with the knee and thigh when they climbing. Concerning the damage of shirts, the majority experienced the elbow part was worn out, and the knee part was either worn out or torn at pants. Design preference results showed participants preferred loose-fit short-sleeved shirts that could cover half of the hip. In case of pants, they preferred basic-fit long trousers and basic hems with no functional characteristic. 3 sports climbing instructors answered that climbing wears should put emphasis on deodorization and antimicrobial effects as well as durability and suitability for physical activity. They also pointed out limitations in price and design and presented opinions about creating various sizes for different body parts by taking into account the growth of muscles.

  • The natural dyeing of silk fabrics with guava leaf extract was investigated. Mixed components of flavonoid and tannin seem to be the components of guava leaf extract. The temperature and time for dyeing of silk fabrics with guava leaf extract were $40^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$ for eighty minutes, respectively. The dyeing equilibrium was shown at the fourth time of repeated dyeing. The highest K/S value was recorded at pH 3. Fe-mordanted fabrics showed the highest K/S value. High K/S values were shown in the post-mordanting of dyed fabrics at $40^{\circ}C$ and the pre-mordanting of dyed fabrics at $90^{\circ}C$. After repeated dyeing and mordanting, various color change occurred with mordant treatment. Surface colors were changed to YR color in alkaline water extract and to Y color in acidic water and ethanol extract, respectively. The washing fastness was level 3-4 for Sn-mordanted fabrics and level 4 for Fe-mordanted fabrics, and the dry cleaning fastness also showed very excellent result with level 4-5. The rubbing fastness was satisfactory with level 3-4. The light fastness was above level 4 only when Fe-mordanting was conducted, and the rest of dyed fabrics was not fast enough. In the antibacterial activity, the powder of guva leaf extract showed 99.9% of high antibacterial activity and Staphylococcus aureus showed 99.6% in dyed fabric. All dyed fabrics showed higher deodorization and UV protection rate than control fabric.

과채발효액의 항균 및 탈취력 효과와 사료 첨가시 계란 품질에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of the Fermentation Broth of Fruits and Vegetables on Antimicrobial Activity and Egg Quality with its Supplementation in Feed)

  • 본 연구에서는 과채 발효시 생성되는 유산균의 종류를 확인하고 유기산 농도, 내산성과 항균 효과를 확인하고 산란계의 사료에 첨가하여 공급하였을 때 계란의 품질에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 과채류의 유산균 발효액에는 8종 이상의 Lactobacillus균들이 있었으며 이들은 pH가 2.9${\pm}$0.4인 과채발효액에 존재하므로 대부분 내산성을 띄고 있었다. 과채발효액에 존재하는 유산균들 중에서도 L. hilgardii, L. reuteri, L. nagelii, L. plantarum, Zygosaccharomyces bisporus들은 pH 2.0에서도 생존하였다. 과채발효액이 산성을 나타내는 것은 유기산인 초산, 사과산, 젖산, 푸마릭산, 시트르산이 함유되어 있는 것과 관련이 있다. 과채발효액애는 초산과 젖산이 E. coli와 Salmonella sp.의 MIC보다 높게 함유되어 있었고, 사과산, 푸마릭산, 시트르산등은 MIC 보다 낮게 함유되어 있었지만 전체적으로 보았을 때 유기산의 함량은 두 위해균의 성장을 억제하기에 충분한 것으로 사료된다. 이렇게 과채발효액에 함유된 유기산이 위해균의 성장을 억제할 뿐 아니라 유산균들 중에서 위해균인 E. coli, S. typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, S. gallinarium에 대해 L. nagelii과 L. plantarum이 가장 항균 효과가 높았고, 그다음으로 Staphylococcus aureus, S. gallinarium에 대해서 효과적인 항균 효과를 나타내였다. 유기산과 유산균이 모두 함유된 과채 발효액은 산의 농도가 높아질수록 위해균에 대한 항균 효과가 향상되었다. 희석한 과채발효액을 암모니아와 황화수소의 제거 능력이 탁월하여 과채발효액을 처리한 후 초기 30분 동안 50% 이상이 제거되었다. 사료의 0.1% 수준으로 과채발효액(산함량 3.0%)을 혼합하여 산란계에게 공급하였을 때 대조군에 비해 산란율, 계란 질량, 사료 효율이 현저하게 증가하였다. 또한 과채 발효액 첨가군에서 계란의 신선도가 향상되었고, 난각 두께와 난각 강도가 높아져서 파각율이 낮을 것으로 사료되며 난황의 콜레스테롤 농도도 낮아졌다. 결론적으로 과채발효액은 양계의 항생제 대체 사료첨가제로의 가능성이 충분한 것으로 사료된다.

편백 오일의 항주름, 피부 장벽 및 보습능 평가 (The effects of Chamaecyparis obtusa oil on anti-wrinkle, skin-barrier and moisturizing)

  • 편백나무(Chamaecyparis obtusa)는 측백나무과에 속하며 우리나라 남쪽 지역에서 주로 잘 자생한다. 편백나무의 목재는 재질이 우수하여 가구로서의 활용이 높으며 남은 목재, 가지, 잎은 정유 추출에 사용되고 있다. 편백 정유는 항염, 향균, 탈취, 진정 효능이 탁월한 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 편백나무의 잎에서 추출한 오일이 주름 개선, 피부 장벽 및 보습능에 미치는 영향을 평가하고자 하였다. 먼저, DPPH assay와 ABTS assay를 통해 항산화 활성을 평가한 결과, 편백 오일은 두 가지 라디칼을 농도 의존적으로 유의하게 소거하였다. 그리고 주름 생성 억제 효능 평가를 위해 elastase 활성을 측정한 결과, 편백 오일은 elastase 활성을 직접적으로 억제시킴을 확인하였다. 다음으로는 real-time PCR을 통해 유전자 발현을 확인한 결과, 편백 오일은 인간섬유아세포에서 MMP-1 유전자 발현을 유의하게 감소시켰다. 또한, 편백 오일에 의해 각질형성세포에서 filaggrin과 HAS-2 유전자 발현이 유의하게 증가함을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 종합해보면, 편백 오일은 주름 개선과 피부 장벽 및 보습능 강화에 도움을 주어 항노화 화장품의 기능성 원료로서 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Reduction of Trimethylamine Off-Odor by Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Korean Traditional Fermented Food and Their In Situ Application

  • Trimethylamine (TMA) is a well-known off-odor compound in fish and fishery products and is a metabolic product of trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) generated by the enzymatic action of microorganisms. The off-odor is a factor that can debase the value of fish and fishery products. The present study aimed to remove TMA using lactic acid bacteria (LAB). A total of fifteen isolates exhibiting the TMA reduction efficacy were isolated from Korean traditional fermented foods. Among these isolates, five LAB isolates (Lactobacillus plantarum SKD 1 and 4; Lactobacillus paraplantarum SKD 15; Pediococcus stilesii SKD 11; P. pentosaceus SKD 14) were selected based on their high TMA reduction efficacy. In situ reduction of TMA efficacy by the LAB cell-free supernatant was evaluated using a spoiled fish sample. The results showed effective TMA reduction by our selected strains: SKD1 (45%), SKD4 (62%), SKD11 (60%), SKD14 (59%), and SKD15 (52%), respectively. This is the first study on TMA reduction by the metabolic activity of LAB and in situ reduction of TMA using cell-free supernatant of LAB. The present finding suggests an economically useful and ecofriendly approach to the reduction of TMA.

Candida rugosa CY-10의 접종에 따른 돈분배양액내 악취저감 효과에 관한 연구 (Effects Of the Inoculation Of Candida rugosa CY-10 OH the Reducing Odours in Pig Slurry Medium)

  • 본 연구는 돈분 완숙퇴비에서 돼지분뇨 악취제어 효과가 뛰어난 효모를 분리하고, 그들의 특성을 조사하여 악취미생물에 관한 기초자료를 얻고자 수행하였다. 10% 돈분배지에서 성장이 우수한 균주를 선발하고 10% 돈분액체배지에 접종하여 28$^{\circ}C$ 72시간 배양한 후 가스경지간을 이용하여 암모니아와 아민류를 측정하여 이들에 대한 기질 선호성을 가진 호모를 악취유용 미생물로 CY-10을 선발하였다. 이의 형태적, 생화학적 특성에 따라 희비에서 분리한 CY-10은 Candida rugosa로 동정되어 본 시험에 공시로 Candida rugosa CY-10으로 하였다. 이의 악취저감능을 조사하기 위해서 돈분 액체배지에 성장시키면서 이들 배양액의 휘발성 지방산을 분석한 결과 대조구에 비해 CY-10의 경우 iso- butric acid와 busic acid를 100% 감소시켜 뷰틸산류에 기질특이성이 있는 것으로 나타났으며 또한 이의 처리구는 대조구에 비해 $NH_4$-N, Soluble-N, BOD즐 각각 20%, 12.6%, 9.82%를 감소시키는 효과가 있었다

Performance of Air Fresher System for the Removal of Various Odorants Released from Foodstuffs

  • The effectiveness of four air fresher (AF) systems was evaluated with respect to their removal efficiencies against offensive odorants. For this purpose, malodorous species were generated by exposing freshly cooked foods emitting odorants with levels moderately above their respective threshold values in a confined room. The deodorization efficiency of the four AF systems was then tested for a period of 30 min by estimating the extent of reduction in odorant levels after the operation of each AF. The removal efficiency of the four AF units against each odorant was evaluated as follows: (1) between AF products from different manufacturers, (2) between odorants and ultrafine particulate matter ($PM_{2.5}$), and (3) between operation and natural degassing. The average sorptive removal of odorants was generally <80% and considered less effective or non-effective relative to $PM_{2.5}$. Further examination of odor reduction, if evaluated in terms of odor indices like odor intensity (OI) and odor activity value (OAV), recorded a mean of 33% and 87%, respectively. The overall results of this study confirmed that all tested AF units were not effective to resolve odor problems created under our testing conditions.

고구마 줄기·잎 추출액을 이용한 견직물의 염색성 (The Dyeability of Silk Fabrics with Sweet Potato Stem·Leaf Extract)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the dyeability of silk fabrics with sweet potato stem leaf extract. To obtain the optimal dyeing conditions it was examined at various dyeing conditions(temperature, pH, time and bath ratio). The dyeability and the depths of shade which were evaluated in terms of K/S and CIELAB color difference values of the dyed and mordanted fabrics were also investigated. After dyeing, various color fastness(wash fastness, dry cleaning fastness, light fastness, rub fastness, and perspiration fastness) was measured and reviewed for UV protective, deodorant and antimicrobial functionality. The optimun output, as a result, was shown at 100% of dye concentration, $90^{\circ}C$ of dyeing temperature and 80 minutes of dyeing time while in terms of dye uptake depending on the kind of mordants and mordanting, it was found that among four mordants of $Alk(SO_4)_2$, $CuSO_4$, $SnCl_2$, and $FeSO_4$, post-mordanting with $SnCl_2$ showed the best results. Color fastness to dry cleaning, washing and rubbing was found strong at grade 4-5 and the grade to perspiration was as good as 3 while to light fastness was good at 4 as well. In aspects of functional properties, it showed excellent results of 98.3% UV protection rate and 88% deodorization rate. Antibacterial activity was 99.9% against staphylococcus aureus and 73.3% against klebisella pneumoniae. In conclusion, we validated that the dyestuffs from the disused sweet potato stem leaf extract would be useful as a natural dye material using the optimized conditions and dyeability for silk dyeing.
