학제에 따른 치위생과 학생의 임상실습 만족도와 관련 요인 (Influencing factors of and satisfaction with clinical practice between college and university dental hygiene students)

  • Objectives: This research aimed to identify the influential factors that affect the satisfaction of dental hygiene students' clinical training between college and university and contribute to improvement in clinical practice quality. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 210 dental clinical hygienists from June 10 to August 30, 2018. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. An independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's post-hoc test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient were employed, and a stepwise multiple regression analysis was performed. Results: Regarding the influential factors of satisfaction with clinical practice among dental hygiene students, in the case of college students, dental hygienist practice instructor dummy, self-efficacy, satisfaction of school life, interpersonal relation was the increasing order. In the case of university students, dental hygienist practice instructors, subjective health, satisfaction with school life, and interpersonal relations was the increasing order. Conclusions: The most influential factor of dental hygiene students' clinical practice satisfaction between college and university was the ability to form interpersonal relationships. Therefore, to increase the satisfaction of dental hygiene students with clinical practice between college and university, external sources and efforts to emphasize internal sources are required.

치과위생사의 직장 내 괴롭힘과 회복탄력성이 재직의도에 미치는 융합적 영향요인 (Convergence Factors Influencing Workplace bullying and Resilience on Retention Intention in Dental Hygienists)

  • 본 연구는 치과위생사의 직장 내 괴롭힘과 회복탄력성 및 재직의도의 관계를 파악하고 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하여 치과위생사의 재직의도를 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 마련하기 위한 기초자료로 활용하고자 실시하였다. 자료 수집은 서울, 경기, 전북의 3개 지역에서 근무하고 있는 치과위생사 202명을 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 자료분석은 SPSS version 19.0을 사용하여 단변량 분석과 3단계에 걸친 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 근무지 만족도가 높을수록(p<.001), 직장 내 괴롭힘을 적게 경험할수록(p=.011), 회복탄력성이 높을수록(p<.001) 치과위생사의 재직의도가 높았다. 따라서 치과위생사의 재직의도를 향상시키기 위하여 회복탄력성을 높일 수 있는 방안 마련과 바람직한 조직문화의 개선 연구가 지속적으로 필요하다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Perceptions and attitudes of dental hygienists toward radiation safety and protection in the Republic of Korea

  • To investigate the perceptions and attitudes of dental hygienists toward radiation safety management in Korea. A total of 800 dental hygienists were randomly selected for an anonymous survey, and 203 of them participated. The questionnaire items included the following: sex, career period, type of installed radiographic equipment, recognition of the diagnostic reference level (DRL), participation in radiation safety education, and attitudes toward radiation protection for both patients and dental hygienists. The participants were divided into two groups according to their years of experience (< 10 years versus ≥ 10 years). The difference between the groups was investigated according to frequency distribution. Fisher's exact test or Pearson's chi-square (𝛘2) test was used as appropriate. A regression analysis was performed to investigate the impact of wearing a thyroid collar for personnel protection during patient radiation exposure. The types of installed radiographic equipment included panoramic radiography (96.1%), cephalometric radiography (76.9%), intraoral radiography (72.9%), and cone-beam computed tomography (69.5%). Significant differences were observed in the learning pathway for the DRL (Fisher's exact test, p < 0.05), satisfaction with radiation safety education (Pearson's 𝛘2 test = 5.3975, Pr = 0.02), and use of personnel radiation monitoring systems (Pearson's 𝛘2 test = 18.1233, Pr = 0.000) between the groups. Significant differences were also observed in personnel protection using a thyroid collar and patient protection during panoramic radiography (odds ratio = 14.2). Dental hygienists with more than 10 years of experience were more satisfied with radiation safety education and more interested in radiation monitoring. Considering career experience, customized, continuous, and effective radiation safety management education should be provided.

치과위생사의 노후생활 준비 (Preparation for Old Age Life of Dental Hygienists)

  • 본 연구는 치과의료기관에서 근무하는 치과위생사를 대상으로 그들의 안정적 노후생활준비의 필요성을 인식시키고, 노후생활준비에 대하여 조사하여 사회적 지원 방향을 모색하고자 실시하였다. 층화추출법으로 표본 추출된 1,560개소 치과의료기관의 치과위생사에게 우편으로 설문지를 발송하여 자기기입에 의한 단면조사를 실시하였다. 노후생활에서 걱정되는 문제점에 대한 결과 '경제'라고 응답한 비율이 가장 높게 나타났다. 경제적 노후준비를 하고 있는 비율이 84.3%로 높게 나타났고, 그 방법으로는 '정기예금 및 적금'이 62.6%로 가장 높았다. 경제적 노후준비 만족도는 평균 2.60으로 불만족하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 노후생활을 위한 신체적 준비의 평균점수는 2.97, 정서적 준비는 3.59, 여가준비는 2.56으로 낮게 나타났다. 결론적으로 우리나라 치과위생사의 노후생활을 위한 경제적 준비 만족도는 낮았고, 신체적, 정서적 및 여가 준비정도 또한 낮게 나타나 30대부터 노후생활준비를 계획하여야 할 것으로 사료된다. 또한 이를 위해 대한치과위생사협회에서는 적극적으로 이들의 은퇴 후 노후생활을 위한 교육, 정책, 제도 등 각종 프로그램을 개발해야 한다.

예비치과위생사의 취업에 관한 의식 조사 (A Survey on Preliminary Dental Hygienists' Senses of Employment)

  • The purpose of this study was to conduct a survey on the senses that preliminary dental hygienists have on employment, who applied for the National Dental Hygienist Examination, so that it could provide a basic reference required for fostering good human resources specializing in oral health with a sense of mission and responsibility as professional. To meet these goals, a self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted for participants in a refresher education meeting for preliminary dental hygienists across three major regions(Seoul, Daejeon and Busan), which was held by the Korean Dental Hygienists Association(KDHA) on Jan. 15, 2006. Total 289 sheets of questionnaire were collected, and 262 sheets except invalid or incomplete ones were used for examination and analysis. As a result, this study came to the following conclusions: First, it was found that 40.4% respondents wanted to be employed in dental clinic or hospital. Most respondents(90.1%) answered that faithfulness is most valued as prerequisite qualification for employment in hospital, and highest percentage of respondents(39.3%) wanted to earn 16 to 17 million Korean won annually. For internship opportunities, 61.9% respondents replied that they could willingly accept the internship, provided that basic pay and switchover to regular employee are all assured. Second, as the results of survey on employment circumstances around respondents, it was found that most respondents(58.3%) were employed in dental clinic or hospital, and highest percentage of respondents(35.0%) earned 15 to 16 million Korean won. Third, it was found that interpersonal relationships among employees had most significant effects(4.81) on selection of employment, which was followed by in-house welfare benefits 1(monthly/annual vacation, resting room, etc; 4.56). For possible influential factors on the selection of employment depending on whether employed or not, it was found that there were Significant differences in pay, welfare benefit 2(seminar, orientation, refresher training opportunities, etc), post-wedding continued employment and merit system between employees and non-employees(pE0.05). Fourth, the survey on respondents' occupational senses of dental hygienist showed that major tasks of dental hygienists were represented by oral disease prevention(92.6%), case management(71.5%), oral health education(66.3%), hospital/clinic management and dental management support(10.4%) and public oral health activities(6.7%) respectively. For job satisfaction, it was found that almost half respondents(48.9%) showed satisfaction at their job and 32.6% felt satisfied at and proud of their job. That is, majority of respondents(81.5%) felt satisfied at their job as dental hygienist. For follow-up requirements to qualify for dental hygienists, it was found that 73.3% felt it necessary to give more investments to self-development, 62.2% respondents considered protection of membership's rights as one of future assignments that KDHA should be more committed to. For future social awareness about dental hygienists as occupation, 69.2% respondents expected that they would be better developed and treated as professional. And desired training courses as a part of qualification for professional dental hygienists were represented by case management(services, manners, etc; 33.3%), implant(28.9%), esthetics(correction, prosthesis, whitening; 18.9%) and so on. For an item on working years, it was noted that 75.9% respondents would keep working as dental hygienists as long as they could.

일부지역 임상치과위생사의 전문직 자아개념과 조직사회화의 상관관계 (Correlation between the self-concept of clinical dental hygiene professionals and organizational socialization)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to review the correlation between self-concept and organization of socialization in professional settings among dental hygienists. Methods: Statistical analysis was carried out on the collected data to identify any correlation between frequency and percentages. Cronbach's alpha value and one-way ANOVA were conducted. SPSS 12.0 was used to conduct a correlation analysis on self-concept and socialization in professional settings. Validity of the research tools was also confirmed. Results: There was a correlation between the identity and job satisfaction, with the figures showing great variance. Satisfaction was correlated with the nature of the corporation and job performance. In addition, communication had a negative correlation between job characteristics and identities, job performance, while, organizational commitment and positive correlation showed a statistically significant difference. Conclusions: The study reviewed the impact on organizational socialization. The dental hygienist is believed to be on going research into developing more effective and systematic training programs so that they can be effectively socialized society organizations to improve the professional self-concept.

신규치과위생사의 직무교육이 조직사회화에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Inservice Training on Organizational Socialization of New Dental Hygienists)

  • 본 연구는 현재 치과의료기관에서 재직 중인 신규치과위생사를 대상으로 직무교육이 조직사회화에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위해 2015년 5월 1일부터 2015년 5월 31일까지 서울, 경기권, 충청권, 전라권, 경상권의 치과의료기관에 재직 중인 신규치과위생사를 대상으로 편의 표집추출법에 의한 자기기입식 설문조사를 실시하여 162명의 설문지를 최종분석에 이용하였다. 신규치과위생사의 직무교육 형태는 집단 및 개별교육을 병행하는 형태가 가장 많았고, 직무교육의 교육자는 선임치과위생사가 가장 많았으며, 직무교육 소요시간은 10시간 이하가 가장 많았다. 직무교육의 만족도는 '보통이다'에 가깝게 나타났으며, 난이도는 '어렵다'에 가까운 것으로 나타났다. 직무교육의 영역별 내용 충실도는 치위생중재 교육의 '발치준비 및 주의사항 안내'가 가장 충실하였고, 복무규정안내의 '승진제도 안내'가 가장 미흡하였다. 신규치과위생사의 조직사회화는 평균 3.10으로 '보통이다'에 가깝게 나타났다. 직무교육 형태는 집단 및 개별교육을 혼용하는 경우가 가장 많았고, 의원급에서는 집단교육보다 개별교육이 많이 이뤄지며, 병원급에서는 개별교육이 거의 이뤄지지 않았다. 의원급에서는 치과의사가 교육하는 경우가 16.0%인 반면 병원급에서는 치과의사가 교육하는 경우가 2.9%에 불과했다. 신규치과위생사의 직무교육 소요시간, 난이도, 만족도와 직무교육 내용(병원소개, 병원복무규정안내, 직장예절, 전화응대와 치위생중재 교육 등)의 특성 및 내용은 조직사회화에 26.1% 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 조직사회화에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 요인은 치위생중재 교육으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이상의 결과를 함축적으로 제시하고 치위생학에 조직사회화 개념을 적용했다는 점에서 의의를 갖는다. 신규치과위생사가 새로운 조직에 효과적으로 사회화될 수 있도록 보다 효과적이고 체계적인 교육프로그램에 대해 지속적으로 연구되어야 할 것이다.

고등학생의 삶의 만족도와 구강건강실천과의 연관성 (Relationship between life satisfaction and oral health practice in high school students)

  • Objectives : The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between the life satisfaction of high school students and their oral health practice and to provide the right method of oral health maintenance. Methods : The subjects were 307 high school students in Chungcheongnam-do. A self-reported questionnaire was filled out from May 13 to 28, 2013. The questionnaire included life satisfaction and oral health practice. Data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0. Results : A frequent visit to dental clinic improved the quality of oral health in high school students by way of toothbrushing, use of dental hygiene devices, and diet control. Conclusions : It is very important to practice continuing oral health education in high school students by dental hygienists.

일부지역 치위생(학)과 학생들의 진학만족도와 진로방향, 치과위생사 이미지에 관한 연구 (A Study on Enrollment Satisfaction, Career Directions, and Image of Dental Hygienists for Dental Hygiene Students in Some Regions)

  • 본 연구는 치위생(학)과 학생들의 진로방향에 대한 기준제시와 치과위생사의 바람직한 이미지 구축에 필요한 기초자료를 마련하고자 대구 경북지역 소재 대학 치위생(학)과 재학생을 대상으로 자기기입식 설문조사를 실시하였다. 자료 수집은 2013년 2월부터 2013년 5월까지 수행하였고, 수집된 자료 중 응답이 불성실한 46부의 설문지를 제외한 1,679부를 SPSS/Win18.0을 사용하여 최종 분석하였고, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 선택후회와 진학추천의 경우 1학년이 2, 3, 4학년보다 높았고, 전과의지는 3, 2, 4학년이 1학년보다 높은 것으로 나타나, 저학년일수록 진학만족도가 높았다. 희망진로는 모든 학년에서 치과위생사로의 취업이 높았고, 취업 희망경로는 1학년의 경우 교수추천, 2학년, 3학년, 4학년의 경우 공개채용이 높았다. 취업희망 지역은 대도시, 선택이유는 발전가능성이 높았다. 취업 희망기간은 모든 학년에서 결혼 전, 자녀성장 후 재취업이 높았고, 희망근무처는 1학년 대학병원치과, 2학년, 3학년, 4학년의 경우 치과병원이 높았다. 학년에 따른 치위생사 이미지 차이에서 태도의 경우 1, 2학년이 3학년보다 높았고, 신념은 1, 2학년이 3, 4학년보다 높았으며, 가치는 4학년이 1, 3, 2학년보다, 2, 3학년이 1학년보다 높은 것으로 나타나, 태도와 신념은 저학년일수록, 가치는 고학년일수록 높았다. 진학만족도 요인 중, 전과의지와 진학권유 요인이 치과위생사 이미지에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 치위생(학)과 학생들은 직업에 대한 정체성을 확립하고, 치과위생사의 바람직한 이미지화를 위해 노력해야 할 것이며, 체계적이고, 적극적인 홍보활동을 통하여 치과위생사에 대한 보다 정확하고, 긍정적인 이미지를 높이기 위한 끊임없는 노력이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

치위생과 학생들의 임상실습 스트레스와 만족도, 자아개념간의 관련성 연구 (Study about the relation between clinical practice stress, satisfaction and self-concept of dental hygiene department students)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the current status of the relationship between clinical practice stress, satisfaction and self-concept of dental hygiene department students in order to effectively implement the clinical practice, which is a necessary course for professional dental hygienists. Methods: The subjects in this study were 299 dental hygiene department students who participated in clinical practice. The survey was conducted from November 1, 2017 to December 31, using self-filling questionnaire (INJE 2017-08-004-002). Statistical analysis was conducted to identify the clinical practice characteristics, clinical practice stress, satisfaction and self-concept and the results according to clinical practice characteristics were compared through t-test and ANOVA. The regression analysis was conducted to identify the effects on self concept. Results: Clinical practice stress, satisfaction and self concept were identified to be significant(p<0.01). Multiple regression analysis results of the factors affecting self concept of study subjects showed that self concept was statistically significant in grade, education programs and satisfaction. Conclusions: Self-concept, clinical practice stress and satisfaction were significantly correlated. In order to raise the quality of clinical practice and to become a professional dental hygienist, it is necessary to continue research on the measures to improve the stress management and satisfaction in clinical practice for establishing self-concept.
