Purpose: This study aimed to obtain basic data on oral health improvement by investigating the EQ-5D index according to the oral prosthesis status of elderly persons aged 65 years or older in Korea using the Seventh Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Methods: In this study, 3,426 elderly persons aged 65 years or older were included to analyze the relationship between the dental prostheses status and EQ-5D index in the collected data. Results: Compared to the "complete denture" in oral prosthesis, EQ in case of no dental prostheses or fixed dental prostheses is comparable to removable prosthetics such as "no dental prostheses," "one fixed bridge," and "two or more fixed bridges." Removable partial denture and complete denture required for the maxillary and mandibular EQ-5D index were significantly higher in "not necessary" than in "complete denture necessary" in all the elderly persons. Conclusion: The condition of the dental prosthesis and the need for a removable partial denture and complete denture for the elderly's EQ-5D index were confirmed, and it was found that the fixed dental prostheses were more effective than the removable dental prostheses. Therefore, oral health education programs for the elderly should be developed to promote dental function and oral health maintenance.

This study contributes by offering fundamental information on the prevention of dental diseases and on developing an education program that can be used by dental health businesses to improve dental health. Methods : This study used primitive data of the sixth term of the first year and the second year and selected a total of 4,393 people as the final research subject. In order to determine the factors that influence the number of existing natural teeth, confounding factors were considered, and regression analysis using general linear models was done. Results : According to the results of this research, the middle-aged and elderly groups have more existing permanent teeth in the following three cases: 1. Talking is comfortable when daily brushing frequency is 3 times or more. 2. Self-recognition of dental health condition is good. 3. Number of dental caries present in permanent teeth is low. Conclusions : For a and medical system, a dental health care system that takes into consideration the lifespans of people must be legislated and implemented.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of oral state and health condition among elderly people. The subjects in this study were 220 senior citizens who were randomly selected from among dwellers in Eunpyeong-gu and Jongno-gu, Seoul. A survey was conducted by one-on-one interview to find out their oral state and health condition. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS 10.0 program, and variance analysis, correlation analysis and regression procedure were employed. The findings of this study were as follows: First, Regarding subjective oral health state, 52.3 percent of the elderly people, more than the half, considered their mouth to be in good health. The number of their mean remaining permanent teeth was 14.85, which was one of the indexes to indicate their objective oral state. Second, Concerning their abnormal oral health experience, 75 percent didn't feel that their masticatory force was good enough, and 55.9 percent felt pain in their teeth, 70.0 percent suffered from mouth dryness. Those fact showed that a lot of the elderly people felt there was something wrong with their oral cavity, and the unhealthy oral state made it difficult for them to eat food, as their masticatory force weakened and they couldn't get a good taste for food. Third, Those who viewed their oral cavity as healthy thought that they were in good shape, and there was a significant correlational relationship between their subjective oral and overall physical health states. Their own perception of oral state made a difference to their subjective health status, and the subjective oral health was significantly related to ADL as well, which implied that their ADL was different according to the way they looked at their own oral health status.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to reduce the burden on dental hygienists in performing dental hygiene processes in the clinic. This study systematically analyzed dental hygiene problems and dental hygiene planning according to the oral condition of patients by applying an oral health care program based on the dental hygiene process. Results: The higher the bleeding on probing score was, the more scaling was planned. The higher the calculus rate was, the more air-jet and jaw joint disorder prevention education was planned. The higher the O'Leary index was, the more dietary education and air-jet was planned. The higher the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index was, the more air-jet and jaw joint disorder prevention education was planned. The higher the Periodontal Screening and Recording index was, the more scaling and professional tooth cleaning was planned (p<0.05). Conclusions: The burden of oral preventive duties on dental hygienists will be minimized by systematically establishing problems and planning of dental hygiene according to patients' oral health index scores. Therefore, it is expected that dental hygienist can actively use the dental hygiene process in oral health care programs.
Purpose: The current study focused on investigating color change of dental zirconia block with respect to the block coloring time. Methods: Three types of dental zirconia blocks(Zirtooth, Pearl-HT, D-Max) were tinted with coloring agent under four different time condition (0 minutes, 1 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes). The quantitative evaluation of the tinted dental zirconia blocks was conducted with spectrophotometer. Results: The Zirtooth and D-Max blocks showed lower H value. The Pearl-HT blocks showed poor reflectivity(L value). Conclusion: The study of color change of zirconia block, which consists the substructure of all ceramic Crown, is applicable for deciding appropriate coloring condition when fabricating one layer ceramic Crown or double layer ceramic Crown.
