  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the importance of brushing before sleeping by comparing the use of oral care products, frequency of dental clinic visits, and oral conditions between individuals who brush and do not brush their teeth before sleeping using data from the 5th and 6th Korean National Health and Nutrition Survey (KNHANES). Methods: Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 21.0 on data files obtained according to a complex sampling design, and a significance level of <0.05 was set. General characteristics of the participants and year were analyzed using chi-square analysis. Data on the oral conditions, use of oral care products, and frequency of dental clinic visits were analyzed using logistic regression and linear regression. Results: Individuals who brushed their teeth before sleeping showed greater use of oral care products and more frequent dental clinic visits, oral examinations, preventive treatment, and treatment for simple caries (p<0.05) than individuals who did not. Individuals who did not brush their teeth before sleeping showed higher prevalence of permanent teeth caries and periodontal disease, as well as chewing and speaking problems (p<0.05), than those who bushed before sleeping. Conclusions: Individuals who do not brush before sleeping exhibit poorer oral health and lower use of oral care products and frequency of recent dental treatment than those who brush before sleeping. Therefore, it is necessary to alter the government's active policy and improve education about the importance of brushing before sleeping to improve oral health.

Methodology : To test the hypotheses, the structured instrument was employed to question to patients and their guardians who had used dental clinics in the metropolitan area. 207 cases were analyzed with structural equation method through SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 22.0, and findings of the test as follows. Findings : Firstly, both functional and associative images had a positive impact on the brand trust. Especially we found the influence of functional images was greater than that of the brands' associative images. Secondly, the satisfaction of dental clinic users had greater positive influence on the clinics with greater trust. Thirdly, the higher the satisfaction of health service consumers, the more positive effect on brand loyalty. This relationship between the satisfaction of dental clinic users and brand loyalty match the findings of previous studies on relations of similar variables. Practical Implications : This study shows that with greater satisfaction, the referral rate and the revisit rate of users would increase. This implies that dental clinics need to take appropriate actions to build brand trust with advertising and/or PR strategies for a good brand image. It would be necessary to research further expected variables that influence users' brand loyalty in the service, such as the dentists' level of expertise, their relationship level with customers, the quality of dental services and et al..

Methods: We conducted a survey targeting 486 women that agreed with the survey and were going to dental clinic from October 1, 2013 to October 18, 2013. We surveyed them by self-administered questionnaire and analyzed it by SPSS Win 19.0 program. Results: 1. For differences in periodontitis according to general characteristics, if th age is high, ratio of periodontitis is high. Married woman is higher than single one in ratio of periodontitis. Also the more number of birth, the higher ratio of periodontitis is.(p<.05) 2. For differences of periodontitis by dental care behavior, ratio of periodontitis of non-smokers is significantly low. For one that brush one's teeth broadside, the ratio of periodontitis is high.(p<.05) 3. For differences of periodontitis by use of dental clinic service, ratio of periodontitis of one that have more times visit to a dental clinic, more annual average cost for dental care, and regular dental check-ups is relatively low.(p<.05). 4. For determinant factors influencing on periodontitis, ratio of periodontitis of one that is old, have more stress, have a low level of education, and have preventive dental care is high. Ratio of periodontitis of one that have less toothbrushing and brush one's teeth after having lunch or a snack and before sleeping is significantly low. Conclusions: From this study, dental health behavior as the factor influencing on periodontitis of young women is statistically meaningful. Because this dental health behavior has a lot of potential to be improved by government and local community efforts such as education and social support, we think that systematic and various educational program development is needed to strengthen self dental care ability effectively with policy support.
