The effects of additive ions on the generation of metallic nanoparticles were evaluated using a corona induced supersonic nozzle. Applying the corona discharge to the nanoparticle generator, a tungsten needle and the supersonic nozzle are used as an anode electrode and a cathode electrode respectively. The corona ions act as nuclei for the silver vapor condensation. The ion density was controlled precisely as varying the applied voltage between electrode and nozzle. The mean diameter of the silver particle decreases as the ion density increases. However, the number concentration of the silver particle tended to increase with the ion density. The size distribution is more uniform as the ion density increases.

This paper proposes a low-complexity generator which finds the first two minimum values using bit-serial scheme. A low-complexity generator is an important part for low-area LDPC decoders based on the min-sum decoding algorithm because the hardware complexity of generators utilizes a significant portion of LDPC decoders. To reduce hardware complexity, bit-serial LDPC decoders has been studied. The generator of the existing bit-serial LDPC decoders can find only the first minimum value, and thus it leads to a BER performance degradation. The proposed generator using bit-serial scheme finds the first two minimum values. Hence, it can improve the BER performance. In addition, the area-time complexity of the proposed generator is lower than those of the existing generators finding the first two minima.

This paper presents a general proposal to design and calculate the performance of a tubular permanent magnet linear generator treated here on the basis of the Finite Element Method. Optimizing the linear generator dimensions reduces the cogging force, which occurs due to the interaction between stator teeth and the permanent magnets. The generated AC voltage is analyzed and evaluated for both no load and load cases to take the armature reaction effects on the air gap flux density. A repetitive routine is followed to calculate the output AC voltage from the change of flux and the speed of the single-phase linear generator. The AC output voltage is calculated for different resistive loads, and hence, the linear generator load characteristic is obtained. The designed linear generator is capable to generate an output power of 5.3kW with AC output voltage of 222V with an efficiency of 96.8% at full load of 23.8A. The full load current is chosen based on the thermal properties of the coil wire insulations.
BaTiO3-Poly vinylidene fluoride (PVDF) solution was prepared by adding 0~25 wt% BaTiO3 nanopowder and 10 wt% PVDF powder in solvent. BaTiO3-PVDF film was fabricated by spreading the solution on a glass with a doctor blade. The output performance increased with increasing BaTiO3 concentration. When the BaTiO3 concentration was 20 wt%, the output voltage and current were 4.98 V and 1.03 ㎂ at an applied force of 100 N. However, they decreased when the over 20 wt% BaTiO3 powder was added, due to the aggregation of particles. To enhance the output performance, the generator was poled with an electric field of 150~250 kV/cm at 100 ℃ for 12 h. The output performance increased with increasing electric field. The output voltage and current were 7.87 V and 2.5 ㎂ when poled with a 200 kV/cm electric field. This result seems likely to be caused by the c-axis alignment of the BaTiO3 after poling treatment. XRD patterns of the poled BaTiO3-PVDF films showed that the intensity of the (002) peak increased under high electric field. However, when the generator was poled with 250 kV/cm, the output performance of the generator degraded due to breakdown of the BaTiO3-PVDF film. When the generator was matched with 800 Ω resistance, the power density of the generator reached 1.74 mW/m2. The generator was able to charge a 10 ㎌ capacitor up to 1.11 V and turn on 10 red LEDs.
The wind speed at the altitude around 300 m is much higher and less variable than at the altitude around 80 m which is the same height of the MW class tower turbine's hub height. The wind power density is increased 0.37 W/$m^2$ per meter at the altitude around 6 to 7 km and 0.25 W/$m^2$ per meter at the altitude around 80 to 500 m. There are two types of power generation systems using lifting bodies. The one is that The generator is installed in the ground station and stretched into the lifting body through the tether. The other is that the generator is installed in the lifting body and stretched into the ground station through the tether. Many kinds of lifting bodies are also researched in the world, called kites, wings, single or twin aerostat, and so on. This article introduced the technical development status and the market prospects of the high altitude wind power generation system all over the world in detail.
Coherence describing the similarity between physical quantities of two signals is a very useful tool to investigate the temporal and spatial characteristics of signals propagating in underwater acoustic waveguide. Ambient noise measurements were made by the vertical received array consisting of three hydrophones as part of the KIOST-HYU joint acoustics experiment, and the coherence for the underwater ambient noise was analyzed. In this paper, the coherence results in cases that the generator in the research vessel was off and turned on are presented. The coherence estimated in the case of the generator operation mode are compared to the predictions obtained using the theoretical model with the directional density function dominated by vertical components propagating downward from the ship. In the case of the generator switch-off, the results are compared to the model predictions with directional density function including the effects of sea surface noise and long-distance shipping noise.
Heat exchanger tube array in a heat recovery steam generator is exposed to the hot exhaust gas flow and it could cause the flow induced vibration, which could damage the heat exchanger tube array. It is needed for the structural safe operation of the heat exchanger to establish the characteristics of flow induced vibration in the tube array. The researches for the flow induced vibration of typical heat exchangers have been conducted by using single cicular tube or circular tube array and the nondimensional PSD(Power Spectral Density) function with the Strouhal number, fD/U, had been derived by experimental method. From the present study, the basis for the application of flow induced vibration to the heat recovery steam generator tube array would be prepared. For the previous mentioned purpose, the present CFD analysis introduced a single fin tube and calculated with the unsteady laminar flow over the single fin tube. The characteristics of vortex shedding and lift and drag fluctuation over the fin tube was investigated. The derived nondimensional lift PSD was compared with the results of the previous experimental studies and the characteristics of lift and drag PSD over a single fin tube was established from the present CFD study.

To supply electric power in certain extreme environments such as a spacecraft or in military applications, a radioisotope thermoelectric generator has been highlighted as a useful energy source owing to its high energy density, long lifetime, and high reliability. A radioisotope thermoelectric generator generates electric power by using the heat energy converted from the radioactive energy of a radioisotope. In this study, FE analyses such as radiation shield analysis, heat transfer analysis, and power recovery rate analysis have been carried out to achieve an optimal design for a radioisotope thermoelectric generator using $SrTiO_2$.

Current rechargeable battery cannot provide high energy density and the operational durations required. But linear engine/generators provide high energy density for portable power applications because fuel is more high density. In this paper, we suggest that basic design of powerpack using linear engine for assisting power output. Efficiency is relatively high because linear engine don't have crank mechanism compared with rotary engine. We made prototype engine and had experiments to know moving characteristic about the Linear Engine. It was possible to operate velocity at 50 Hz at the firing and pressure in cylinder was 16bar.
