  • The growth of e-commerce market requires more delivery packagings, which protect goods from the damage factors on the delivery. In this study, we have analyzed the distribution environment data (vibration and impact) measured in previous study and compared with global standards (ISTA, ASTM), so that we developed the testing method for Field-to-Lab simulation suitable to the domestic delivery. In order to verify the efficacy of this method, we took the Field-to-Lab tests for 3 packaged products (detergents set, glass tableware set, small furniture), which has been frequent breakages or damages on the actual delivery by e-commerce order, so that we could find out the test results were similar to those of the actual delivery occasions. In addition, we could perform redesign and improvement of the parcel delivery packagings for safe transportation by taking this Field-to-Lab test repeatedly. This test methods was finally proposed to be Korean industrial standard (KS), and is expected to be useful as a designing tool for the packaging optimization between protecting goods and reducing packaging waste.

  • Recently, much attention has been increasingly paid to the efficiency of the delivery system in order to manage construction project in a smooth and effective way. The integrated plan in consideration of the life cycle of building is required for the effective and integrated management of information in a huge amount. To this end, collaboration between each field is indispensable from the beginning of project. But there is a limitation that the designer and the constructor sign the contract separately in the conventional delivery system. In the US, the recent trend is that the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) has been introduced to improve the effectiveness of project management in an increasing number of the cases where project is implemented by utilizing the IPD. In Korea, there is also an increasing need to introduce the IPD for the integrated project management. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the laws and the contracts that are applied to domestic cases of placing order and signing contract based on the concept and principle of the IPD before the actual introduction of the IPD. Based on such examination and analysis, this study intends to figure out the constraints to the introduction of the IPD. It is expected that the results of this study will be used as basic data for IPD-related study in the future.

  • Purpose - Drone delivery is expected to revolutionize the supply chain industry. This paper aims to introduce a collaborative parcel delivery problem by truck and drone (hereinafter called "TDRP") and propose a novel heuristic method to solve the problem. Research design, data, and methodology - To show the effectiveness of collaborative delivery by truck and drone, we generate a toy problem composed of 9 customers and the speed of drone is assumed to be two times faster than truck. We compared the delivery completion times by 'truck only' case and 'truck and drone' case by solving the optimization problem respectively. Results - We provide literature reviews for truck and drone routing problem for collaborative delivery and propose a novel and original heuristic method to solve the problem with numerical example. By numerical example, collaborative delivery is expected to reduce delivery completion time by 12~33% than 'truck only' case. Conclusions - In this paper, we introduce the TDRP in order for collaborative delivery to be effective and propose a novel and original heuristic method to solve the problem. The results of research will be help to develop effective heuristic solution and optimize the parcel delivery by using drone.

  • This paper presents a decision support system (DSS) for selecting the best delivery policy at an internet general shopping mall with its own distribution center and many outside enterprises linked up with the mall. The DSS provides the decision maker with the performance information of three delivery policies (individual delivery, collective delivery, mixed delivery) for the given service level, customer order pattern, direct/indirect delivery ratio, unit costs of various delivery modes, upper level of goods characteristic index for collective delivery poller, etc. Furthermore, the DSS allows the decision maker to perform the sensitivity analyses of three delivery policies for their major parameters and unit costs of delivery modes. The DSS is developed with AweSim simulation 1anguage and Visual Basic programming 1anguage.

  • In this study we develop a computer simulation model to evaluate the effects of various production and order processing policies measured in terms of on-time delivery rate and average waiting time of job orders. Policies considered include : eliminating inflated due date, lot splitting, loss time reduction, attaining full flexibility in production lines, and selective order promising scheme. Actual order-production data from a chemical company were used in the simulation model. Based on the simulation results, we make several suggestions that can significantly reduce the production lead time and increase the on-time delivery rate.

  • This paper addresses order-lot pegging issues in the supply chain of a semiconductor business. In such a semiconductor business (memory or system LSI) order-lot pegging issues are critical to achieving the goal of ATP (Available to Promise) and on-time production and delivery. However existing pegging system and researches do not consider capacity limit on bottleneck steps. This paper presents an order-lot pegging algorithm for assigning a lot to an order considering quality constraints of each lot and capacity of bottleneck steps along the entire FAB. As a result, a quick and accurate response can be provided to customer order enquiries and pegged lot lists for each promised orders can be shown transparently and short or late orders can be detected before fixing the order.

  • Objective: To compare neonatal respiratory morbidity of twins according to birth order related to gestational age and mode of delivery. Methods: We performed the retrospective research of the medical records of 3,224 neonates (1,612 twin pairs) born in a single center from January 2011 to December 2015. Subjects were classified into four gestational age groups: very (<32 weeks), moderate (32-33 weeks), late (34-36 weeks) preterm, and term (${\geq}37weeks$) groups. We investigated clinical characteristics and respiratory morbidity according to birth order related to gestational age group and mode of delivery. Results: We found increased risk of respiratory morbidity in second-born twin than first-born twin (P=0.039). Second-born twin was associated with increased risk of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) in late preterm group (odds ratio [OR] 2.8, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.30-5.95), and transient tachypnea of newborn in term group (OR 1.4, 95% CI 1.03-1.81). In vaginal delivery mode, there was no difference of respiratory morbidity between first and second-born twin in each group, but in cases of Cesarean delivery, second-born twin was related with a greater risk of RDS in late preterm group (OR 2.3, 95% CI 1.07-5.09). Birth order and Cesarean section independently increased the risk of RDS (adjusted OR [aOR] 1.69, 95% CI 1.12-2.54; aOR 2.14, 95% CI 1.25-3.66, respectively). Conclusion: Second-born twin and Cesarean delivery are associated with increased risk of RDS, especially in late preterm twins.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the fast delivery route that several drones return a truck again after departing from it for delivery locations at each cluster while the truck goes through the cluster composed of several delivery locations. The main issue is to reduce the total delivery time composed of the delivery time by relatively slow trucks via clusters and the sum of maximum delivery times by relatively fast drones in each cluster. To solve this problem, we use a three-step heuristic approach. First, we cluster the nearby delivery locations with minimal number of clusters satisfying a constraint of drone flight distance to set delivery paths for drones in each cluster. Second, we set an optimal delivery route for a truck through centers of the clusters using the TSP model. Finally, we find out the moved centers of clusters while maintaining the delivery paths for the truck and drones and satisfying the constraint of drone flight. distance in the two-dimensional region to reduce the total delivery time. In order to analyze the effect of this study model according to the change of the number of delivery locations, we developed a R-based simulation prototype and compared the relative efficiency, and performed paired t-test between TSP model and the cluster-based models. This study showed its excellence through this experimentation.
