  • Longitudinal dynamic behaviors of a bridge system under seismic excitations are examined with various magnitudes of peak ground accelerations. The stiffness degradation due to abutment-soil interaction is considered in the bridge model which may play the major role upon the global dynamic characteristics. The idealized mechanical model for the whole ridge system is proposed by adopting the multiple-degree-of-freedom system which can consider components such as pounding phenomena friction at the movable supports rotational and translational motions of foundations and the nonlinear pier motions. The abutment-soil interaction is simulated by utilizing the one degree-of-freedom system with nonlinear spring. The stiffness degradation of the abutment-soil system is found to increase the relative displacement under moderate seismic excitations.

Micrococcus sp. MS-64K에 의한 Trichloroethylene의 분해특성 및 Kinetics (Biodegradation and Kinetics of Trichloroethylene by Micrococcus sp. MS-64K)

  • Microorganisms capable of degrading trlchloroethylene(TCEI using phenol as a induction substrate were isolated from industrial effluents and soil. The strain MS-64K which had the highest blodegradablllty was identified as the genus Micrococcus. The optimal conditions of medium for the growth and blodegadatlon of trlchloroethylene were observed as follows; the initial pH 7.0, trlchloroethylene 1, 000ppm as the carbon source, 0.2% ${(NH_4)}_2SO_4$, as the nitrogen source. respectively. Lag period and degradation time on optimal medium were shorter than those on Isolation medium. Growth on the optimal medium was Increased. Addition of 0.1% Triton X-100 Increased the growth rate of Micrococcus sp. MS-64K, but degradation was equal to optimal medium. Trlchloroethylene degradation by Micrococcus sp. MS-64K was shown to fit logarithmic model when the compound was added at initial concentration of 1, 000ppm.

  • An analysis procedure of 2-dimensional bridge dynamics has been developed by using force-deformation model, which simulates the pier motion under biaxial bending due to the bi-directional input seismic excitations. A three-dimensional mechanical model is utilized, which can consider the other major phenomena such as pounding, rotation of the superstructure, abutment stiffness degradation, and motions of the foundation motions. The bi-directional dynamic behaviors of the bridge are then examined by investigating the relative displacements of each oscillator to the ground. It is found that the nonlinearity of the pier due to biaxial bending affects the pier motions, but the global bridge behaviors are greatly governed by the pounding phenomena and stiffness degradation of the abutment-backfill system. Especially, the relative displacement of the abutment system (A2) with movable supports to the ground is increased about 30% due to the abutment stiffness degradation.

  • A model for degradation of $eta$-$Al_2O_3$ is derived from sress generated by Poiseuille pressure capillary effect and effulent flux in charging process of Na-S Battery. Critical current density for degradation increase with increasing the crack length and crack tip radius. radius 10-7cm and crack length 10-5cm Dependence of crack growth velocity on crack lengh is seperated two regions that is for a large crack length it is predominated by Poiseuille pressure and effulent fluex but in the case of small crack length it is controlled by capillary effect.

  • In this study, the degradation characteristics of drain output resis-tance was described due to hot electron effects. An semi-empirical model for the degraded drain output resistance was derived from the measured device characteristics. The suggested model was verified from the measured data and the device parameter dependence was also analyzed. The degradation of drain output resistance was increased with stress time and had linear relationship with the degradation of drain current. The device lifetime which was defined by failure criteria of drain output resistance (such as $\Delta$ro/roo=5%) was equivalent to that of failure criteria of drain current (such as $\Delta$ID/ID=5%)

Soil structure interaction effects on structural parameters for stiffness degrading systems built on soft soil sites

  • In this study, strength reduction factors and inelastic displacement ratios are investigated for SDOF systems with period range of 0.1-3.0 s considering soil structure interaction for earthquake motions recorded on soft soil. The effect of stiffness degradation on strength reduction factors and inelastic displacement ratios is investigated. The modified-Clough model is used to represent structures that exhibit significant stiffness degradation when subjected to reverse cyclic loading and the elastoplastic model is used to represent non-degrading structures. The effect of negative strain - hardening on the inelastic displacement and strength of structures is also investigated. Soil structure interacting systems are modeled and analyzed with effective period, effective damping and effective ductility values differing from fixed-base case. For inelastic time history analyses, Newmark method for step by step time integration was adapted in an in-house computer program. New equations are proposed for strength reduction factor and inelastic displacement ratio of interacting system as a function of structural period($\tilde{T}$, T) ductility (${\mu}$) and period lengthening ratio ($\tilde{T}$/T).

  • A new method of parameter determination in the fatigue residual strength degradation model is proposed. The new method and minimization technique is compared experimentally to account for the effect of tension-compression fatigue loading of spheroidal graphite cast iron and graphite/epoxy laminate. It is shown that the correlation between the experimental results and the theoretical prediction on the fatigue life and residual strength distribution using the proposed method is very reasonable. Therefore, the proposed method is more adjustable in the determination of the parameter than minimization technique for the prediction of the fatigue characteristics.

BER DEGRADATION DUE TO THE PHASE NOISE SPECTRAL SHAPE IN LMDS SYSTEMS

  • Phase noise of oscillator gives the performance degradation significantly when a high carrier frequency and low transmission rate are used. The BER(Bit Error Rates) degradation of QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) transmission is analyzed with the oscillator phase noise level specified in downstream physical interface of LMDS(Local Multipoint Distribution Services) which is described in DAVIC(Digital Audio Visual Council). The model used for the phase noise is a power-law model. We also investigated the effects of the various transmission rates on system performance. For the transmission rate below 0.5 Mbps, the BER performance is severely degraded and we verified that the transmission rate, 20 Mbps, is adequate for the downstream of LMDS systems.

고온시 고강도 콘크리트의 물리적 특성 모델 설정에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Physical Properties Model of High Strength Concrete at High Temperature)

  • This research is to present experimental materials model of high strength concrete for prediction of fire safety of structural members based on physical properties of materials during heating up to 800$^{circ}C$. The following conclusions are drawn from this study. First of all, between 100 to 200 $^{circ}C$, the physical models of concrete such as specific heat and thermal conductivity, show visible degradation, regardless of concrete strength. Second, between 300 to 600$^{circ}C$, the physical models of the 29MPa and 49MPa concrete show degradation continually at these temperatures. Finally, beyond 600$^{circ}C$, the physical models of 49MPa strength concrete show larger degradation than 29MPa strength concrete due to rise of pore pressure and melting of the interface between aggregate and cement paste.

역 필터링을 이용한 이동물체 영상복원 (Motion Image Restoration by Inverse Filtering)

  • 본 논문은 역필터링을 이용하여 이동에 의해 흐려진 영상을 복원하는 기법에 관한 논문이다. 적절한 역필터를 설계하기 위하여 저하과정(Degradation Process)을 정확히 모델링하여 그의 역특성을 갖는 필터를 구해내야 한다. 고속으로 이동하는 물체의 영상은 Blurring되는데, 이것은 수학적으로 시간에 대한 영상의 적분으로 모델링될 수 있으며, 공간좌표상 방향성 방형 윈도우(Rectangular Window)를 상승(Convolution)하는 것으로 분석된다. 본 논문에서는 주파수 영역에서 이를 분석하여, 이동방향을 고려한 역 Sinc 함수 특성을 갖는 필터를 이용하여 흐려진 영상을 복원하는 기법을 연구한다.
