This paper proposes a lightweight deep learning network for detecting an image splicing forgery. The research on image forgery detection using CNN, a deep learning network, and research on detecting and localizing forgery in pixel units are in progress. Among them, CAT-Net, which learns the discrete cosine transform coefficients of images together with images, was released in 2022. The DCT coefficients presented by CAT-Net are combined with the JPEG artifact learning module and the backbone model as pre-learning, and the weights are fixed. The dataset used for pre-training is not included in the public dataset, and the backbone model has a relatively large number of network parameters, which causes overfitting in a small dataset, hindering generalization performance. In this paper, this learning module is designed to learn the characterization depending on the DCT domain in real-time during network training without pre-training. The DCT RRU-Net proposed in this paper is a network that combines RRU-Net which detects forgery by learning only images and JPEG artifact learning module. It is confirmed that the network parameters are less than those of CAT-Net, the detection performance of forgery is better than that of RRU-Net, and the generalization performance for various datasets improves through the network architecture and training method of DCT RRU-Net.

The Mekong River Basin (MRB) is a crucial watershed in Asia, impacting over 60 million people across six developing nations. Accurate satellite-based precipitation products (SPPs) are essential for effective hydrological and watershed management in this region. However, the performance of SPPs has been varied and limited. The APHRODITE product, a unique gauge-based dataset for MRB, is widely used but is only available until 2015. In this study, we present a novel framework for correcting SPPs in the MRB by employing a deep learning approach that combines convolutional neural networks and encoder-decoder architecture to address pixel-by-pixel bias and enhance accuracy. The DLF was applied to four widely used SPPs (TRMM, CMORPH, CHIRPS, and PERSIANN-CDR) in MRB. For the original SPPs, the TRMM product outperformed the other SPPs. Results revealed that the DLF effectively bridged the spatial-temporal gap between the SPPs and the gauge-based dataset (APHRODITE). Among the four corrected products, ADJ-TRMM demonstrated the best performance, followed by ADJ-CDR, ADJ-CHIRPS, and ADJ-CMORPH. The DLF offered a robust and adaptable solution for bias correction in the MRB and beyond, capable of detecting intricate patterns and learning from data to make appropriate adjustments. With the discontinuation of the APHRODITE product, DLF represents a promising solution for generating a more current and reliable dataset for MRB research. This research showcased the potential of deep learning-based methods for improving the accuracy of SPPs, particularly in regions like the MRB, where gauge-based datasets are limited or discontinued.
Super resolution technique aims to convert a low-resolution image with coarse details to a corresponding high-resolution image with refined details. In the past decades, the performance is greatly improved due to progress of deep learning models. However, universal solution for various objects is a still challenging issue. We observe that learning super resolution with a general dataset has poor performance on faces. In this paper, we propose a super resolution fusion scheme that works well for both general- and face datasets to achieve more universal solution. In addition, object-specific feature extractor is employed for better reconstruction performance. In our experiments, we compare our fusion image and super-resolved images from one- of the state-of-the-art deep learning models trained with DIV2K and FFHQ datasets. Quantitative and qualitative evaluates show that our fusion scheme successfully works well for both datasets. We expect our fusion scheme to be effective on other objects with poor performance and this will lead to universal solutions.

Deep Learning, which is being used in various fields recently, is being threatened with Adversarial Attack. In this paper, we experimentally verify that the classification accuracy is lowered by adversarial samples generated by malicious attackers in image classification models. We used MNIST dataset and measured the detection accuracy by injecting adversarial samples into the Autoencoder classification model and the CNN (Convolution neural network) classification model, which are created using the Tensorflow library and the Pytorch library. Adversarial samples were generated by transforming MNIST test dataset with JSMA(Jacobian-based Saliency Map Attack) and FGSM(Fast Gradient Sign Method). When injected into the classification model, detection accuracy decreased by at least 21.82% up to 39.08%.

Deep learning has become a powerful and robust algorithm in Artificial Intelligence. One of the most impressive forms of Deep learning tools is that of the Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). CNN is a state-of-the-art solution for object recognition. For instance when we utilize CNN with MNIST handwritten digital dataset, mostly the result is well. Because, in MNIST dataset, all digits are centralized. Unfortunately, the real world is different from our imagination. If digits are shifted from the center, it becomes a big issue for CNN to recognize and provide result like before. To solve that issue, we have created frequency images from spatial images by a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT).
In this paper, we propose a pre-processing method that converts to Spider Chart image data for classification of gripping movement using EMG (electromyography) sensors and Convolution Neural Networks (CNN) deep learning. First, raw data for six hand gestures are extracted from five test subjects using an 8-channel armband and converted into Spider Chart data of octagonal shapes, which are divided into several sliding windows and are learned. In classifying six hand gestures, the classification performance is compared with the proposed pre-processing method and the existing methods. Deep learning was performed on the dataset by dividing 70% of the total into training, 15% as testing, and 15% as validation. For system performance evaluation, five cross-validations were applied by dividing 80% of the entire dataset by training and 20% by testing. The proposed method generates 97% and 94.54% in cross-validation and general tests, respectively, using the Spider Chart preprocessing, which was better results than the conventional methods.

Most infrastructure structures were completed during periods of economic growth. The number of infrastructure structures reaching their lifespan is increasing, and the proportion of old structures is gradually increasing. The functions and performance of these structures at the time of design may deteriorate and may even lead to safety accidents. To prevent this repercussion, accurate inspection and appropriate repair are requisite. To this end, demand is increasing for computer vision and deep learning technology to accurately detect even minute cracks. However, deep learning algorithms require a large number of training data. In particular, label images indicating the location of cracks in the image are required. To secure a large number of those label images, a lot of labor and time are consumed. To reduce these costs as well as increase detection accuracy, this study proposed a learning structure based on mean teacher method. This learning structure was trained on a dataset of 900 labeled image dataset and 3000 unlabeled image dataset. The crack detection network model was evaluated on over 300 labeled image dataset, and the detection accuracy recorded a mean intersection over union of 89.23% and an F1 score of 89.12%. Through this experiment, it was confirmed that detection performance was improved compared to supervised learning. It is expected that this proposed method will be used in the future to reduce the cost required to secure label images.

In deep learning classification tasks, most models frequently assume that all labels are available for the training datasets. As such strategies to learn new concepts from unlabeled datasets are scarce. In fingerprint classification tasks, most of the fingerprint datasets are labelled using the subject/individual and fingerprint datasets labelled with finger type classes are scarce. In this paper, authors have developed approaches of classifying fingerprint images using the majorly known fingerprint classes. Our study provides a flexible method to learn new classes of fingerprints. Our classifier model combines both the clustering technique and use of deep learning to cluster and hence label the fingerprint images into appropriate classes. The K means clustering strategy explores the label uncertainty and high-density regions from unlabeled data to be clustered. Using similarity index, five clusters are created. Deep learning is then used to train a model using a publicly known fingerprint dataset with known finger class types. A prediction technique is then employed to predict the classes of the clusters from the trained model. Our proposed model is better and has less computational costs in learning new classes and hence significantly saving on labelling costs of fingerprint images.

Classification of different blood cell types is an essential task for human's medical treatment. The white blood cells have different types of cells. Counting total White Blood Cells (WBC) and differential of the WBC types are required by the physicians to diagnose the disease correctly. This paper used transfer learning methods to the pre-trained deep learning models to classify different WBCs. The best pre-trained model was Inception ResNetV2 with Adam optimizer that produced classification accuracy of 98.4% for the dataset comprising four types of WBCs.

A widely used social networking service like Twitter has the ability to disseminate information to large groups of people even during a pandemic. At the same time, it is a convenient medium to share irrelevant and unverified information online and poses a potential threat to society. In this research, conventional machine learning algorithms are analyzed to classify the data as either non-rumor data or rumor data. Machine learning techniques have limited tuning capability and make decisions based on their learning. To tackle this problem the authors propose a deep learning-based Rumor Detection Neural Network model to predict the rumor tweet in real-world events. This model comprises three layers, AttCNN layer is used to extract local and position invariant features from the data, AttBi-LSTM layer to extract important semantic or contextual information and HPOOL to combine the down sampling patches of the input feature maps from the average and maximum pooling layers. A dataset from Kaggle and ground dataset #gaja are used to train the proposed Rumor Detection Neural Network to determine the veracity of the rumor. The experimental results of the RDNN Classifier demonstrate an accuracy of 93.24% and 95.41% in identifying rumor tweets in real-time events.
