Reduction of Output Voltage Ripples in Single-Phase PWM Rectifier with Active Power Decoupling Circuit

  • In this paper, a low-cost single-phase PWM rectifier with small DC-link capacitors is proposed, where a buck-boost converter with a low power rating is added at the DC link. By controlling the auxiliary circuit so as to absorb the voltage ripple in the DC link, the second-order voltage ripple in DC-link capacitor can be reduced significantly. Therefore, a small film capacitor can be utilized to replace the bulky electrolytic capacitors. The simulation results are shown to verify the validity of the proposed method.

  • In general, a power decoupling method using electrolytic capacitor is used to solve a problem that appears 120[Hz] ripple of grid at the PV module output. But electrolytic capacitor has a effect on the short lifetime and low reliability of PV system. Therefore, studies which replace the large electrolytic capacitor with small film capacitor have been researched in resent years. This paper proposes flyback inverter which can be replaced with film capacitor by connecting the circuit implementing zero voltage switching in PV side. The proposed system is validated by PSIM simulation.

  • This paper describes a 3-DOF attitude control of a small model helicopter in hover through explicit decoupling and adaptive control scheme. A model helicopter mounted on gimbal-stand is considered as a system that has 3 independent SISO systems representing motions about roll, pitch and yaw axis and these subsystems are identified from the test flight data. In this consideration, the contribution of others to yaw channel is neglected since it is relatively small. Two PID controllers based on Ziegler-Nichols method are designed for roll pitch channels independently. Also, adaptive fuzzy tuner is designed and applied to those PID controllers to cope with coupling effects between each channel and system uncertainties due to variation of engine RPM.   • The Newton-Raphson method has now gained widespread popularity in Load-flow calculationes. In this paper programming is developed with aims to improve the convergence characteristics, speed and memory requirements in the above method. The method of Load-flow calculations is performed by employing the MW-O/MVAR-V decoupling principle. To reduce the memory requirements and improve the speed of calculation the programming of the Optimally Ordered Triangular Factorization method is developed. Besides this, other measures are taken to reduce memory requirements and computing time and to improve reliability. KECO'S 48 Bus system was tested and the method suggested in this paper was proved to be faster than any other methods.

Electrical Properties of BaTiO3-based 0603/0.1µF/0.3mm Ceramics Decoupling Capacitor for Embedding in the PCB of 10G RF Transceiver Module

  • Multi-layer ceramic capacitors as decoupling capacitor were fabricated by dielectric composition with a high dielectric constant. The fabricated decoupling capacitors were embedded in the PCB of the 10G RF transceiver module and evaluated for the characteristics of electrical noise by the level of AC input voltage. In order to further improve the electrical properties of the $BaTiO_3$ based composite, glass frit, MgO, $Y_2O_3$, $Mn_3O$, $V_2O_5$, $BaCO_3$, $SiO_2$, and $Al_2O_3$ were used as additives. The electrical properties of the composites were determined by various amounts of additives and optimum sintering temperature. As a result of the optimized composite, it was possible to obtain a density of $5.77g/cm^3$, a dielectric constant of 1994, and an insulation resistance of $2.91{\times}10^{12}{\Omega}$ at an additive content of 5wt% and a sintering temperature of $1250^{\circ}C$. After forming a $2.5{\mu}m$ green sheet using the doctor blade method, a total of 77 layers were laminated and sintered at $1180^{\circ}C$. A decoupling capacitor with a size of $0.6mm(W){\times}0.3mm(L){\times}0.3mm(T)$ (width, length and thickness, respectively) and a capacitance of 100 nF was embedded using a PCB process for the 10G RF Transceiver modules. In the range of AC input voltage 400mmV @ 500kHz to 2200mV @ 900kHz, the embedded 10G RF Transceiver modules evaluated that it has better electrical performance than the non-embedded modules.

Analysis of Decoupling Method in DQ Transform-based for Grid Connected Inverter

  • There are many types of grid-connected inverter controllers, PI controller based is the most popular methods. But, a common PI control is produced zero-steady state error and phase delay in sinusoidal reference. Synchronous reference frame or DQ transform based controller is capable for reducing both of zero-steady state error and phase delay is. But DQ transform based controller has cross-coupling component which difficult to analyze the system in single phase model. In this paper, to obtained single phase model of the system, DQ transform based controller is analyzed in two techniques. The first is by neglecting cross-coupling. The second is eliminated cross-coupling component by decoupling method. By these two techniques, single phase model is obtained. Then, the single phase model is analyzed to evaluate its performance in stability and frequency response, through Root Locus and Bode diagram, respectively. MATLAB and PSIM simulation is used to verify the analysis. Simulation result is shown; cross-coupling component has no significant influent to the controller.

  • To reduce the complexity in constructing a fuzzy logic controller of multivariable systems, three major methods are presented. One is the method of constructing single-input-single-output fuzzy logic controllers after decoupling the target system. Another is the method of using fuzzy relation matrices which indicate the relation between each input and output. The other is the method of using the hierarchically classified inputs which dominantly influence one output than other inputs. Using the last two methods, simulation results of fuzzy logic controller implemented on 160MW boiler-turbine plant model are also shown.

  • This paper presents the fabrication of the LNA which is operating at 2.13∼2.16 GHz for IMT-2000 lot-end receiver using series feedback and resistive decoupling circuit. Series feedback added to the source lead of a transistor keep the low noise characteristics and drop the input reflection coefficient of amplifier simultaneously. Also, it increases the stability of the LNA. Resistive decoupling circuit is suitable for input stage matching because a signal at low frequency is dissipated by a resistor in the matching network The amplifier consist of GaAs FET ATF-10136 for low noise stage and VNA-25 which is internally matched MMIC for high gain stage. The amplifier is fabricated with both the RF circuits and self bias circuit on the Teflon substrate with 3.5 permittivity. The measured results of the LNA which is fabricated using above design technique are presented more than 30 dB in gain P$\_$ldB/ 17 dB and less than 0.7 dB in noise figure, 1.5 in input$.$output SWR(Standing Wave Ratio).

  • This paper discuss which new dynamic control method for robot arm. It is basedon nonlinear feedback and T transformation which externally linearizes the whole system and provides simultaneous output decoupling. The nonlinear feedback augmented with optimal error correcting controller, which operates on the task error level. Computer simulation were appled to evaluate the performance of new dynamic control method. The simulation results are discussed in detail.

  • In this paper, we suggest PI control with the Smith predictive controller to improve transient response of a variable speed refrigeration system (VSRS). As the refrigeration system has long dead time inherently, it is difficult to get fast responses of super-heat and reference temperature. We incorporated the Smith predictive controller into PI to compensate the effect of the long dead time of the system. At first, we introduced the decoupling model of the system to control capacity and superheat simultaneously and independently. Next, we designed the predictive controller of the superheat based on PI control law. Finally, the control performance by the proposed method was investigated through some numerical simulations and experiments. The results of the simulations and experiments showed that the proposed PI control with the predictive controller could obtain acceptable transient behaviour for the system.
