Seasonal Pupation, Adult Emergence and Mating of Black Soldier Fly, Hermetia illucens (Diptera: Stratiomyidae) in Artificial Rearing System

  • The black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens, has a worldwide distribution in the tropics and warm temperate regions and is active in the Korea from May through October. This species colonize a wide variety of decomposing vegetable and animal matter and oviposits in a variety of decomposing materials. In this study, how the black soldier fly pupation, adult emergence and mating rate changed with season at the artificial rearing system was investigated. The black soldier fly larvae and pupae were reared under laboratory condition ($27^{\circ}C$, 60% R.H.). In this study, under the laboratory condition, pupation and adult emergence were not influenced by season, but the data shows definitely different mating numbers throughout whole year. The time of the day is changed with seasons and it influence to mating on artificial rearing. To culture the black soldier fly throughout the year in Korea needs a more deep study under the artificial rearing system.

고온 열분해 환경의 다공성 탄소/페놀릭 복합재의 열기계적 거동 (Thermomechanical Behavior of Porous Carbon/Phenolic Composites in Pyrolysis Environments)

  • 본 논문에서는 열화학적 분해 및 열기계학적 변형이 고려된 구성 방정식을 사용하여 다공성 탄소/페놀릭 복합재료의 열탄성 거동을 예측하였다. 다공성 복합재료의 온도 의존성 및 열화학적 분해 과정에서의 기공도, 분해 가스에 의한 기공 압력, 재료의 수축을 고려하였다. 기공도와 기공 압력이 고려된 대표 체적 요소 모델의 유한요소 해석을 통해 산출된 거시적 기공 탄성 계수를 구성 방정식에 적용하였다. 간단한 수치 실험을 통해 기공탄성 계수가 다공성 재료의 열탄성 거동에 미치는 영향을 분석하였으며, 재료 내부에 형성된 기공과 기공 압력에 의한 응력 구배 및 변형을 확인하였다.

  • A Vowel of speech signals are multicomponent signals composed of AM-FM components whose instantaneous frequency and instantaneous amplitude are time-varying. The changes of emotion states cause the variation of the instantaneous frequencies and the instantaneous amplitudes of AM-FM components. Therefore, it is important to estimate exactly the instantaneous frequencies and the instantaneous amplitudes of AM-FM components for the extraction of key information representing emotion states and changes in speech signals. In tills paper, firstly a method decomposing speech signals into AM - FM components is addressed. Secondly, the fundamental frequency of vowel sound is estimated by the simple method based on the spectrogram. The estimate of the fundamental frequency is used for decomposing speech signals into AM-FM components. Thirdly, an estimation method is suggested for separation of the instantaneous frequencies and the instantaneous amplitudes of the decomposed AM - FM components, based on Hilbert transform and the demodulation property of the extended Fourier transform. The estimates of the instantaneous frequencies and the instantaneous amplitudes can be used for modification of the spectral distribution and smooth connection of two words in the speech synthesis systems based on a corpus.

Storey-based stability analysis of multi-storey unbraced frames

  • This paper presents a practical method to evaluate the effective length factors for columns in multi-storey unbraced frames based on the concept of storey-based elastic buckling by means of decomposing a multi-storey frame into a series of single-storey partially-restrained (PR) frames. The lateral stiffness of the multi-storey unbraced frame is derived and expressed as the product of the lateral stiffness of each storey. Thus, the stability analysis for the multi-storey frame is conducted by investigating the lateral stability of each individual storey, which is facilitated through decomposing the multi-storey frame into a series of single-storey PR frames and applying the storey-based stability analysis proposed by the authors (Xu and Liu 2002) for each single-storey PR frame. Prior to introducing decomposition approaches, the end rotational stiffness of an axially load column is derived and rotational stiffness interaction between the upper and lower columns is investigated. Three decomposition approaches, characterized by means of distributing beam-to-column rotational-restraining stiffness between the upper and lower columns, are proposed. The procedure of calculating storey-based column effective length factors is presented. Numerical examples are then given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed procedure.

  • 다시마(Laminaria japonica)를 기능성 식품소재로 활용하기 위한 예비단계로, 다세포의 다시마를 미립자의 single cell detritus(SCD)로 분해하는 해양세균을 해수, 다시마(Laminaria japonica), 미역(Undaria pinnatifida), 성게(Anthocidaris crassispina), 불가사리(Acanthaster planci), 소라(Batillus cornutus)로부터 분리하였다. 분리한 71개의 균주 중 다시마 조체의 연화능과 알긴산 분해활성을 동시에 가지는 균주는 14개이었으며, 균주 No. 34가 가장 강한 다시마 조체의 연화능과 알긴산 분해활성을 나타내었다. 균주 No. 34는 배양 15일 만에 다세포의 다시마를 미립자의 SCD 형태로 분해하였으며, 그 크기는 $5-10{\mu}m$이었다. 균주 No. 34는 vibrio sp.으로 동정되었으며, Vibrio sp. YKW-34로 명명하였다.

Development of a New-type Apparatus Decomposing Volatile Organic Compounds using a Combination System of an Electrical Exothermic SiC Honeycomb and a Catalytic Filter

  • A new-type apparatus decomposing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using a combination system of an electrical exothermic SiC honeycomb and a catalytic filter was developed. This linear combination system is very useful to the catalytic decomposition of VOCs, because the gas involving VOCs is well heated in the SiC honeycomb and then flows into the catalytic filter. In the proposed apparatus, the outlet gas temperatures of SiC honeycomb maintained at ca. $300^{\circ}C$ after 5 min from the starting of applying electric current, and sufficient for the catalytic degradation of VOC components, i.e. toluene, isopropanol, methyl ethyl ketone and ethyl acetate. The average decomposition rate of total VOCs exhausted from a printing factory was 85% using pt catalyst at SV=19,000 in this system.

대기업과 중소기업 임금격차 및 결정요인 (Wage Gap and Determinants of Large and Small Enterprises)

  • Oaxaca의 임금격차 요인분해법을 활용하여 대기업과 중소기업의 임금격차를 분해한 결과, 공급측 요인의 총임금격차는 44.2%였으며, 근속연수와 학력이 가장 크게 영향을 미쳤다. 그리고 기업의 경영실적 등 수요측 요인에 의한 기업 규모별 임금격차를 분해한 결과, 총임금격차는 44.9%였으며, 임금격차에 미치는 영향력은 노동생산성, 노조, 외주비율 순으로 컸다. 이러한 분석결과는 기업 규모별 임금격차를 해소하기 위해서는 인적자본의 차이 등 공급측 요인뿐만 아니라 기업의 경영실적과 자본구조 등 수요측 요인도 함께 고려할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

  • 최근에 Gallant, Lambert, Vanstone은 소수체 위에 정의된 타원곡선이 효율적으로 계산 가능한 자기준동형을 가질 때 스칼라 곱을 가속화하는 방법을 제안하였다. 이 방법은 실제로 자기준동형의 특성다항식의 고유치를 사용하여 스칼라를 분해하는데 기반을 두고 있다. 본 논문에서는 그러한 타원곡선의 자기준동형 환의 원소를 이용하여 스칼라를 분해하는 개선된 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 알고리즘은 Gallant 등의 알고리즘보다 속도면에서 효율적이며 분해성분들의 구체적인 상한 값을 줄 수 있다.

젤라틴 분해력이 있는 Bacillus균의 고추 고구마뿌리혹선충에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Bacillus spp. Having Gelatin Decomposing Activity on Root-knot Nematode, Meloidogyne incognita on Pepper)

  • 내장산 토양에서 분리한 미생물들의 젤라틴 및 고구마뿌리혹선충의 난낭 분해활성을 평가하였다. 활성이 우수한 3종의 균주는 16S rRNA 염기서열을 이용하여 분석하였으며, Bacillus subtilis KRB-5와 Bacillus amyloliquefaciens KRB-9, 10이 분리동정되었다. 고구마뿌리혹선충에 20일간 노출시킨 고추모종에 분리동정된 3종의 미생물을 90일동안 처리하고 난낭과 고추모종의 지상부 생육에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 실험결과 B. subtilis KRB-5을 처리한 군에서는 미생물 무처리 군 및 다른 미생물 처리 군과 비교하여 고구마뿌리혹선충의 난낭 수가 현저하게 감소하였으며, 고추의 지상부 생육도 개선되는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 B. subtilis KRB-5 균주를 이용한 박과 작물에 대한 확대 효능 평가와 시설 재배지 현장 시험 등의 추가적인 연구는 활용할 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

Comparison of bacterial communities in leachate from decomposing bovine carcasses

  • Objective: Burial is associated with environmental effects such as the contamination of ground or surface water with biological materials generated during the decomposition process. Therefore, bacterial communities in leachates originating from the decomposing bovine carcasses were investigated. Methods: To understand the process of bovine (Hanwoo) carcass decomposition, we simulated burial using a lab-scale reactor with a volume of $5.15m^3$. Leachate samples from 3 carcasses were collected using a peristaltic pump once a month for a period of 5 months, and bacterial communities in samples were identified by pyrosequencing of the 16S rRNA gene. Results: We obtained a total of 110,442 reads from the triplicate samples of various sampling time points (total of 15 samples), and found that the phylum Firmicutes was dominant at most sampling times. Differences in the bacterial communities at the various time points were observed among the triplicate samples. The bacterial communities sampled at 4 months showed the most different compositions. The genera Pseudomonas and Psychrobacter in the phylum Proteobacteria were dominant in all of the samples obtained after 3 months. Bacillaceae, Clostridium, and Clostridiales were found to be predominant after 4 months in the leachate from one carcass, whereas Planococcaceae was found to be a dominant in samples obtained at the first and second months from the other two carcasses. The results showed that potentially pathogenic microbes such as Clostridium derived from bovine leachate could dominate the soil environment of a burial site. Conclusion: Our results indicated that the composition of bacterial communities in leachates of a decomposing bovine shifted continuously during the experimental period, with significant changes detected after 4 months of burial.
