This paper addresses the data classification using the induction of decision trees. A weakness of other techniques of induction of decision trees is that decision trees are too large because they construct decision trees until leaf nodes have a single class. Our study include both overcoming this weakness and constructing decision trees which is small and accurate. First, we construct the decision trees using classification threshold and exception threshold in construction stage. Next, we present two stage pruning method using classification threshold and reduced error pruning in pruning stage. Empirical results show that our method obtain the decision trees which is accurate and small.

Bit error rate (BER) monitoring is the ultimate goal of performance monitoring in all digital transmission systems as well as optical fiber transmission systems. To achieve this goal, optimization of the decision threshold must also be considered because BER is dependent on the level of decision threshold. In this paper, we analyze a pseudo-error counting scheme and propose an algorithm to achieve both BER monitoring and adaptive decision threshold optimization in optical fiber transmission systems. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we conduct computer simulations in both Gaussian and non-Gaussian distribution cases. According to the simulation results, BER and the optimum decision threshold can be estimated with the errors of < 20% and < 10 mV, respectively, within 0.1-s processing time in > 40-Gb/s transmission systems.

Purpose: This study proposes the optimal PM (preventive maintenance) policy of leased equipment for lessee's decision-making using two types of reliability condition. Methods: We consider reliability threshold based PM model. Equipment reliability is estimated and used as condition variable. The effect of repair for maintenance is imperfect and represented by age reduction factor. Results: We provide two PM policies. Policy 1 is focused on minimized total cost. This policy guarantees reliability threshold until last maintenance action. Policy 2 focus on maintaining reliability threshold during leased period. The proposed approach provides optimal reliability threshold under number of PM. Through result, we finally construct decision-making process for lessee using reliability threshold and end of reliability. Conclusion: This study provides two PM policy for lessee's decision-making. Through numerical example, we get a result of optimal reliability threshold, number of PM, optimum alternative under lessee's reliability condition.

이 논문에서는 DS/SS(Direct Sequence Spread/Spectrum) 시스템에서 초기동기(aquisition)를 위해, 정합 필터의 출력중 부정합된 최대 상관값을 임계값(threshold)으로 결정하는 TDMMC(Threshold Decision from the Maximum Mismatching Correlation value) 알고리듬을 제안한다. PN코드는 주기성과 정합됐을 때의 상관값이 정합되지 않을 때의 상관값보다 크다는 성질을 가지고 있다. 기존의 방식은 위의 2가지 성질 중에서 후자에 기반을 두고 있는 반면, TDMMC는 위의 성질 둘 모두에 기반을 두고 있다. TDMMC의 궁극적인 목적은 수신기에서 신호 검파확률를 1에 가깝게 하는데 있다(Pd$\longrightarrow$1). TDMMC는 임계값 블록(threshold block)을 이용하여 S/N이 변함에 따라 적절한 임계값을 설정할 수 있다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 비동기식 DS/SS-CSK 시스템에 적용된 TDMMC는 기존의 방식에 비해 성능이 향상됨을 보여준다.

본 논문에서는 에너지 검출 기법의 성능을 향상시키기 위해 각각의 SU(Secondary User)에서 수신한 PU(Primaty User) 신호의 크기를 바탕으로 대수적 연산을 통해 에러 확률이 가장 낮은 최적의 임계값을 찾아 PU의 신호를 검출하는 기법을 제안하며 최적의 임계값을 고려해 생성된 local decision을 바탕으로 가장 낮은 에러 확률을 보이는 K-out-of-n 법칙에 적용하는 방법을 연구한다. 각각의 SU에서 최적의 임계값을 찾고 본 논문에서 제안하는 기법의 성능 평가를 위해 Matlab을 이용하여 이를 시뮬레이션하고, 기존의 협력 스펙트럼 검출 기법 중 하나인 OR 법칙과 비교 분석한다. Matlab을 이용한 시뮬레이션 결과, 최적의 임계값을 이용한 K-out-of-n 법칙이 기존의 OR 법칙에 비해 오 경보 확률 및 미 검출 확률이 감소한 것을 알 수 있다.

In this paper, we propose new watermarking technique using weighting factor decision method in the watermark embedding step and adaptive threshold decision method in the watermark extracting step. In our method, we are determined weighting factor in simple by calculating distance between pixel coefficient and neighborhood pixel coefficients and threshold is adaptively determined by searching the minimized extract error value using histogram of difference value.

A chi-squared statistic is used to find minimum association threshold. We calculate the range of the value that two item sets are occurred simultaneously, and find the minimum confidence threshold values.

소스 부호 왜곡 모델 및 채널 유도 왜곡 모델 기반의 기존의 FEC 부호율 결정 기법들은 일반적으로 높은 계산 복잡도와 구현 비용을 요구하는 모델 파라메터 트레이닝 과정을 요구한다. 본 논문에서는 복잡한 모델링 과정을 피하기 위해서 최적의 FEC 부호율 결정을 위한 채널 손실 한계집합을 추정하기 위한 정확한 소스-채널 결합 왜곡 모델을 제안한다.

This paper presents a statistical analysis of the decision throeshold for derect-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) prallel Pseudo-Noise (PN) code acquistion with a reference filter. The probabilities of detection and false alarm are derived, and the mean acquistion time is evaluated as a measure of the system performance in both nonfading and Rician fiding channels. From the statistical sresults, it is shown that in the performance analysis of the parallel acquisition system with reference filtering, the statistical evaluaion of the decision threshold seems more appropriate than the approximation of the decision threshold adopted in the other schemes[2,3].
