A study on the characteristics of electrochemical deburring in the governor shaft cross hole (거버너샤프트 교차구멍 내경의 전해디버링 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Recently burr technology is rising in the fields of the precision manufacturing and the high quality machining, deburring has treated as a difficult problem on going to the high efficiency, automation in the FMS. Removal of burr with various shapes, dimensions and properties couldn't be standardized and has depended on manual treatment. Especially, deburring for cross hole inside owing to passing through out perpendicular to a main hole is more difficult, the electrochemical method is proper as its solution at practical aspects. Burr elimination in the cross hole drilling of governor shaft used in the automobile engine so far has been worked by a manual post-processing by a skillful worker, which becomes a factor of productivity-down and cost-up so that improvement of machining process is needed. Therefore, for the high efficiency and automation of internal deburring in the cross hole, development of electrochemical deburring technology is needed. So, the new process in the burr treatment is supposed. In this study, characteristics of electrochemical deburring through experiments were identified and factors such as electrolytic gap and electorlytic fluid contributed to removal burr height were analyzed. Also, deburring efficiency and electrolytic performance for cross hole were examined according to electrolytic current and electrochemical deburring condition corresponding to acquired edge quality was found out.

  • In this paper, we present a new approach for the automation of deburring process. An algorithm for teaching skills of a human expert to a robot manipulator is developed. This approach makes use of TSK fuzzy mode that can wxpress a highly nonlinear functional relation with small number of rules. Burr features such as height, width, area, grinding area are extracted from image processing by use of the vision system. Grinding depth, repetitive number and normal grinding force are chosen as control signals representing actions of the human expert. It is verified that our proposed fuzzy model can accurately express the skills of human experts for the deburring process.

  • Accurate measurements of burr profile and burr size are very important for the automation of deburring. In this paper, a new burr measurement system using capacitance sensor is proposed. Ultra precision milling machine was used as a sensor positioning system. The possibility and limitation of employing a capacitance sensor to defect burrs are also investigated. The proposed system is proven to be relatively accurate, easy to setup and lower cost. This system will be applicable to a fully automated deburring system with minor modifications.

  • Several types of burrs form on the edges of all machined and stamped parts. These burrs must be removed to prevent interference fits or short circuits, to improve fatigue life or to prevent injury. Despite the full or partial automation of FMC or FMS, deburring operations to obtain workpiece with fine surface quality are difficult to be automated since the occurrence and condition of burr are not constant. This study focused on developing micro-deburring technique for small electro- parts produced by press process. The successful performance was demonstrated by deburring experiment using the powder blasting.

  • The integration of deburring robots into product quality and productivity impact the industrial. In this paper the intelligent system of robotic deburring is proposed integrated with robot system, image processing system, force sensor system and host PC. The size, position, recognition of burr is determined by the information that the image processing system processed. The feed velocity of cutting tool is controlled by the information that the force sensor system processed. The integration of these information can remove the uncertainty of the information of deburring on the cutting path. The result of these technologies is useful for the development of the factory automation and automatic inspection equipments.

  • The problems occurred when developing a automatic wheel deburring system are to make effective flexibility in model change and the irregularity of the position/shape of the burr, to select optimal robotic manufacturing process and to develope optimal end effector. The locations where burr exists are on flange, rim and spoke. Here will be discussed the optimal solution for the removal of rim burr by using robot. The research can be summarized as the automatic robot path generation by recognizing rim contour and automatic deburring process technique. Various rim contour data is generated automatically when the sensor which is fixed to robot is moving with the parallel motion to the wheel center axis and this generated data is transferred to the data storage system and converted to the robot path data. The robotic tool system which is suitable to the rim deburring process is developed by integrating tool, compliance function and sensor. And factory automation system controlled by robot controller and PC is developed. This system shows good productivity and flexibility.

  • This paper involves the "on-line" measurement of burrs using a capacitance sensor. A non-contact capacitance gauging sensor is attached to an ultra precision milling machine which was used as a positioning system The setup is used to measure burr profiles along machined workpiece edges. Experimental procedures and results as well as the basic theoretical principles of the capacitance sensor and specifications of related equipment are presented. The proposed scheme is shown to be accurate easy to setup and with minor modifications readily applicable to automatic deburring processes.processes.

  • Magnetic abrasive polishing is an advanced deburring process for nonmagnetic materials and micropattern products that have non-machinability characteristics. Despite these advantages, there are some problems with using MAP for deburring. MAP has introduced geometric errors into microgrooves because of an over-cutting force caused by uncontrolled magnetic abrasives in the MAP tool. Thus, in this study, to solve this problem, an EP (electrolyte polishing)-MAP hybrid polishing process was developed for deburring microgrooves in an STS316 material. In addition, an evaluation of EP-MAP for the deburring of microgrooves was carried out by profiling the burrs. The results of the experiment showed geometric errors after the deburring process using MAP. However, in the case of EP-MAP, no geometric error was observed after the process because of the lower material removal rate in EP-MAP.

  • In debureing process. Human experts who have long experenc in performing deburring tasks can manipulate tools efficiently and adapt the tool motions according to the state of the process based on their skills. However, human experts have difficulties in describing linguistically their control schemes and strategies because teey don't aware the detailed process in interpreting wensory information and adapting tool motion. Therefore, it is important to develop a mean of understanding the skills and acquiring the control schemes so that the robot can perform the same skillful motion as the human experts. In this paper, an expert's skill model is developed so that it can be transferred effectively from the expertt to the robot. Skills are represented by a mapping which is generated by using a neural network. Expert's skill shows that the robot is able to associate a correct control strategy with process characteristics which is acquired from a vision image in a similar manner to a human expert's

  • The machining technology for the removal of micro-burr has been demanded because electrode parts of electron gun have minute holes. In this study, Magnetic Assisted Polishing(MAP) is applied to remove the micro-burr instead of the contentional polishing process such as the etching and barrel. Optimal polishing conditions are selected from many experiments using the tool of the flat end slit type. On the basis of experimental results, the deburring machine for the Magnetic Assisted Polishing of electrode part is developed and its performance is evaluated.
