Impact Assessment of Climate Change by Using Cloud Computing (클라우드 컴퓨팅을 이용한 기후변화 영향평가)

  • Climate change could have a pronounced impact on natural and agricultural ecosystems. To assess the impact of climate change, projected climate data have been used as inputs to models. Because such studies are conducted occasionally, it would be useful to employ Cloud computing, which provides multiple instances of operating systems in a virtual environment to do processing on demand without building or maintaining physical computing resources. Furthermore, it would be advantageous to use open source geospatial applications in order to avoid the limitations of proprietary software when Cloud computing is used. As a pilot study, Amazon Web Service ? Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) was used to calculate the number of days with rain in a given month. Daily sets of climate projection data, which were about 70 gigabytes in total, were processed using virtual machines with a customized database transaction application. The application was linked against open source libraries for the climate data and database access. In this approach, it took about 32 hours to process 17 billion rows of record in order to calculate the rain day on a global scale over the next 100 years using ten clients and one server instances. Here I demonstrate that Cloud computing could provide the high level of performance for impact assessment studies of climate change that require considerable amount of data.

Study on Establishment of a Monitoring System for Long-term Behavior of Caisson Quay Wall (케이슨 안벽의 장기 거동 모니터링 시스템 구축 연구 )

  • In this paper, a sensor-based monitoring system was established to analyze the long-term behavioral characteristics of the caisson quay wall, a representative structural type in port facilities. Data was collected over a period of approximately 10 months. Based on existing literature, anomalous behaviors of port facilities were classified, and a measurement system was selected to detect them. Monitoring systems were installed on-site to periodically collect data. The collected data was transmitted and stored on a server through LTE network. Considering the site conditions, inclinometers for measuring slope and crack meters for measuring spacing and settlement were installed. They were attached to two caissons for comparison between different caissons. The correlation among measured data, temperature, and tidal level was examined. The temperature dominated the spacing and settlement data. When the temperature changed by approximately 50 degrees, the spacing changed by 10 mm, the settlement by 2 mm, and the slope by 0.1 degrees. On the other hand, there was no clear relationship with tidal level, indicating a need for more in-depth analysis in the future. Based on the characteristics of these collected database, it will be possible to develop algorithms for detecting abnormal states in gravity-type quay walls. The acquisition and analysis of long-term data enable to evaluate the safety and usability of structures in the event of disasters and emergencies.

  • In this paper, a wireless sensor network system was embodied inside the shipping for digital ship. First, the analysis of radio environment inside ship are investigated. As a result, it was confirmed that a wireless sensor network system can be applied inside the ship. Using Shipboard Wireless Sensor Network System based on IEEE 802.15.4 technique, we designed, and made the prototype of Zigbee Node and RFID Reader. We could be sensing on shipboard and testing entrance of crew by using Zigbee Node and RFID Reader. The sensing and exit or entry control data are transmitted a server system through internet that connected Wireless Gateway with AP, so we can monitoring the saved data on shipboard database.

  • In this paper, we implement the multimedia remote control system by using existing internet service or wired online. We also provide user-friendly convenient environment with developed application program named EzPlay and PC-EPG. The multimedia remote control system consists of integrated wireless transceiver of PC and TV connected USB type and the users can easily use lots of contents because EzPlay program provides appropriate UI mode on the PC and TV screen. The unposed system can operate real-time playing, reserved video receding and data storing function using internet mesh based on signal detecting control theory. The PC-EPG system is implemented by server/client web program and the client program based on visual C++/MFC processes data storing in client computer through TCP/IP. It also provides intelligent function that constructs database according to user's preference.

  • In this paper, we provide interfaces according to user application environments and provide tools through web-site that users can create interface to apply a wide range of application environment. HTML5 is used in the creation processing, so users can create various interfaces by dragging mouse and apply it to multimedia, game applications as well as documents by using the ASCII code and key events that are provided in the Android OS. Database of interfaces is stored in HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) based on Hadoop for management and users can have their own designed interface or select interfaces through simple login any time. In order to provide interface quickly, HIVE based on Hadoop is used for search and the data is provided in XML file which smart mobile can process quickly.

  • This paper presents the design and development of network for housing estate security system. The system can cover up to 961 houses which can be up to 1,200 meters long transfer rate of 9,600 bps. This system uses checking and warning the abnormal situation. More over this system has ability to control switch on/off the electrical equipment in the house via AC line control system. The system consists of 4 parts. The first part is a security system of each house using MCS-51 microcontroller as a central processing unit scan 32 sensors and control 8 appliances and send alarm. The MCS-51 microcontroller received control signal via telephone used DTMF circuit. The second part is distributed two levels master/slave network implementing after RS-485 serial communication standard. The protocol its base on the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) 7 layers protocol model design focus on speed, reliability and security of data that is transferred. The network security using encrypt by DES algorithm, message sequence, time stamp checking and authentication system when user to access and when connect new device to this system. Flow control in system is Poll/Select and Stop-and-Wait method. The third part is central server that using microcomputer which its main function are storing event data into database and can check history event. The final part is internet system which users can access their own homes via the Internet. This web service is based on a combination of SOAP, HTTP and TCP/IP protocols. Messages are exchanged using XML format [6]. In order to save the number of IP address, the system uses 1 IP address for the whole village in which all homes and appliance in this village are addressed using internal identification numbers. This proposed system gives the data transfer accuracy over 99.8% and maximum polling time is 1,120 ms.

  • Kinect sensor version 2 is a kind of camera released by Microsoft as a computer vision and a natural user interface for game consoles like Xbox one. It allows acquiring color images, depth images, audio input and skeletal data with a high frame rate. In this paper, using depth image, we present a surveillance system of a certain area within Kinect's field of view. With computer vision library(Emgu CV), if an object is detected in the target area, it is tracked and kinect camera takes RGB image to send it in database server. Therefore, a mobile application on android platform was developed in order to notify the user that Kinect has sensed strange motion in the target region and display the RGB image of the scene. User gets the notification in real-time to react in the best way in the case of valuable things in monitored area or other cases related to a reserved zone.

  • This paper proposes a Near Field Communication (NFC) communication system that exchanges information of digital business cards efficiently for many to many communication to solve inconvenience of one-to-one communication when people exchanges business cards each other in meetings such as conference, forum, seminar. The proposed system can provide people to exchange contact information one-to-one as well as multiple members at once using a digital business card system that consists a server and a database based on NFC communication. The system has been developed to collect business card information from a NFC reader and to transfer it directly to a smartphone application effectively. The system can manage business card information with the application effectively and provide security in order to prevent from leakage of private information when transferring contact data.

  • In a software testing domain, test case prioritization techniques improve the performance of regression testing, and arrange test cases in such a way that maximum available faults be detected in a shorter time. User-sessions and cookies are unique features of web applications that are useful in regression testing because they have precious information about the application state before and after making changes to software code. This approach is in fact a user-session based technique. The user session will collect from the database on the server side, and test cases are released by the small change configuration of a user session data. The main challenges are the effectiveness of Average Percentage Fault Detection rate (APFD) and time constraint in the existing techniques, so in this paper developed an intelligent framework which has three new techniques use to manage and put test cases in group by applying useful criteria for test case prioritization in web application regression testing. In dynamic weighting approach the hybrid criteria which set the initial weight to each criterion determines optimal weight of combination criteria by evolutionary algorithms. The weight of each criterion is based on the effectiveness of finding faults in the application. In this research the priority is given to test cases that are performed based on most common http requests in pages, the length of http request chains, and the dependency of http requests. To verify the new technique some fault has been seeded in subject application, then applying the prioritization criteria on test cases for comparing the effectiveness of APFD rate with existing techniques.

Real-Time Pavement Damage Detection Based on Video Analysis and Notification Service (동영상 분석을 통한 실시간 포장 손상 탐지 및 알림 서비스)

  • In this paper, we propose a system to detect various damage automatically inflicted on road pavement by collecting and analyzing data from acceleration and camera sensors in real time. The proposed system sends the collected images, acceleration signals, and GPS coordinates to the road manager and the database in the remote server, shortly after detecting the damage to the road pavement. Our study makes three key contributions. The proposed system 1) enables road managers to maintain road conditions quickly, accurately, and conveniently; 2) allows road mangers to take care of various kinds of damage to the road pavement at the initial stage; and finally 3) even makes it possible to track the damage, which suggests that the integration of a high-level decision support function becomes affordable. We tested the sensitivity and precision of the proposed system against real-time data obtained from the vehicles driving on the highway at an average speed of 100 km/h. With ten iterations, the proposed system achieved an average sensitivity of 74% and an average precision of 84% in road pavement damage detection, which is comparable with the best competing schemes.
