  • Time resolved phosphorescence of Dibromobenzophenone (DBBP) choleic acid crystal was observed at 4.2 K as functions of excitation energy and delay time. The experimental results reveal that the energy transfer efficiency is dependent on the excitation energy, i.e. the density of acceptors sites. As the excitation energy or delay time increases, the resonance phosphorescence does not broaden and shift gradually, rather a broad luminescence band develops about 290 cm?1 to lower energy of the resonance phosphorescence. The observation implies that energy transfer from high to low energy sites in this system is controlled by emission of phonons or vibrons. The data of time resolved experiments were analyzed in terms of a mechanism involving direct donor-acceptor excitation transport by exchange coupling. It was concluded that an isotropic twodimensional exchange interaction topology is consistent with energy transfer in this system.

  • This paper is concerned with a transfer alignment method for the SDINS(StrapDown Inertial Navigation System) under ship motions. Major error sources of transfer alignment are data transfer time-delay, lever-arm velocity and ship body flexure. Specifically, to reduce alignment errors induced by measurement time-delay effects, the error compensation method through delay state augmentation is suggested. A linearized error model for the velocity and attitude matching transfer alignment system is first derived by linearizing the nonlinear measurement equation with respect to its time delay and augmenting the delay state into the conventional linear state equations. And then it is shown via observability analysis and computer simulations that the delay state can be estimated and compensated during ship motions resulting in considerably less alignment errors.

  • On large-scale data analysis platforms deployed on cloud infrastructures over the Internet, the instability of the data transfer time and the dynamics of the processing rate require a more sophisticated data distribution scheme which maximizes parallel efficiency by achieving the balanced load among participated computing elements and by eliminating the idle time of each computing element. In particular, under the constraints that have the real-time and limited data buffer (in-memory storage) are given, it needs more controllable mechanism to prevent both the overflow and the underflow of the finite buffer. In this paper, we propose an auto regulated data provisioning model based on receiver-driven data pull model. On this model, we provide a synchronized data replenishment mechanism that implicitly avoids the data buffer overflow as well as explicitly regulates the data buffer underflow by adequately adjusting the buffer resilience. To estimate the optimal size of buffer resilience, we exploits an adaptive buffer resilience control scheme that minimizes both data buffer space and idle time of the processing elements based on directly measured sample path analysis. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides allowable approximation compared to the numerical results. Also, it is suitably efficient to apply for such a dynamic environment that cannot postulate the stochastic characteristic for the data transfer time, the data processing rate, or even an environment where the fluctuation of the both is presented.

  • 새롭게 제안된 전송 계층 프로토콜인 SCTP(Stream Control Transmission Protocol)는 두 개 이상의 IP 주소를 갖는 멀티호밍(multi-homing) 환경에서 기존의 TCP(Transmission Control Protocol)보다 성능이 향상되는 것으로 알려져 있다.

  • When automatic speech recognition (ASR) is provided as a cloud service, it is easy to collect voice and application domain data from users. Harnessing these data will facilitate the provision of more personalized services. In this paper, we demonstrate our transfer learning-based knowledge service that built with the user-generated data collected through our novel system that deliveries personalized ASR service. First, we discuss the motivation, challenges, and prospects of building up such a knowledge-based service-oriented system. Second, we present a Quadruple Transfer Learning (QTL) method that can learn a classification model from a source domain and transfer it to a target domain. Third, we provide an overview architecture of our novel system that collects voice data from mobile users, labels the data via crowdsourcing, utilises these collected user-generated data to train different machine learning models, and delivers the personalised real-time cloud services. Finally, we use the E-Book data collected from our system to train classification models and apply them in the smart TV domain, and the experimental results show that our QTL method is effective in two classification tasks, which confirms that the knowledge transfer provides a value-added service for the upper-layer mobile applications in different domains.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to describe how nurses in neurological intensive care units (ICU) perceive their roles about patient transfer and liaison. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted using a questionnaire developed for the study. Data were collected from a convenience sample of 115 nurses working in the neurological intensive care units ofsix university hospitals. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 15.0). Results: Staff nurses were mainly in charge of patient transfer, and the awareness about its importance was significantly related with the burden about the practice of patient transfer (p<.001). Patient liaison was mainly conducted by staff nurses as well. Liaison practice wassuggested to be started from the ICU at the time of transfer; the suggested time for completion of liaison service and evaluation was when patients were adjusted to the transferred ward. Preparing job descriptions and increasing nursing staffing for patient liasion service were strongly recommended. Conclusion: The results suggest that the ICU nurses' burden in relation to patient transfer is commensurate with their awareness about itsimportance. To improve the continuity of care from ICU to transferred ward, it isrequired to reduce the burden about patient transfer and improve perceptions about patient liaison.

  • In this paper, we seek to find an optimal allocation of link capacity in a data communication network. The architecture of the data communication network considered in the study is an online-service network based on public switched telephone network(PSTN) and packet switched data network(PSDN). In designing the architecture of the network, we need to deal with various measures of quality of service(QoS). Two important service measures are the call blocking probability in PSTN and the data transfer delay time in PSDN. Considering the tradeoff between the call blocking probability and the data transfer delay time in the network, we have developed the optimal link capacity allocation model that minimizes the total link cost, while guarantees the call blocking probability and the data transfer delay time within an acceptable level of QoS. This problem can be formulated as a non-linear integer programming model. We have solved the problem with tabu search and simulated annealing methods. In addition, we have analyzed the sensitivity of the model and provided the insight of the model along with computational results.

  • In order to fully utilize the inherent precision that GPS observables could offer, accurate estimation of dynamic and measurement parameters is vital. Among these parameters some are indispensable in virtually every form of GPS processing, while some are limitedly relevant to a particular application. In the context of time transfer by GPS, the transmission-related errors such as ionospheric and tropospheric delays, and the integer ambiguity of the carrier phase observables belong to the former, the atomic clock parameters and data batch-related parameters to the latter. Obviously the atomic clock parameters are of prime importance in GPS time transfer. In this study some of important parameters in conducting time transfer experiments by use of GPS were characterized and their effects on time transfer performance were investigated in detail

  • Resolving of memory access latency is one of the most important problems in modern embedded system design. Recently, tons of studies are presented to reduce and hide the access latency. Burst/page data transfer modes are representative hardware techniques for achieving such purpose. The burst data transfer capability offers an average access time reduction of more than 65 percent for an eight-word sequential transfer. However, solution of utilizing such burst data transfer to improve memory performance has not been accomplished at commercial level. Therefore, this paper presents a new technique that provides the maximum utilization of burst transfer for memory accesses with local variables in code by reorganizing variables placement.
