  • In this study, six two-phase nonboiling heat transfer correlations obtained from the recommendations of our previous work were assessed. These correlations were modified using seven extensive sets of two-phase flow experimental data available from the literature, for vertical and horizontal tubes and different flow patterns and fluids. A total of 524 data points from five available experimental studies (which included the seven sets of data) were used for improvement of the six identified correlations. Based on the tabulated and graphical results of the comparisons between the predictions of the modified heat transfer correlations and the available experimental data, appropriate improved correlations for different flow patterns, tube orientations, and liquid-gas combinations were recommended.

  • Resolving of memory access latency is one of the most important problems in modern embedded system design. Recently, tons of studies are presented to reduce and hide the access latency. Burst/page data transfer modes are representative hardware techniques for achieving such purpose. The burst data transfer capability offers an average access time reduction of more than 65 percent for an eight-word sequential transfer. However, solution of utilizing such burst data transfer to improve memory performance has not been accomplished at commercial level. Therefore, this paper presents a new technique that provides the maximum utilization of burst transfer for memory accesses with local variables in code by reorganizing variables placement.

  • In this study, pressure drop and heat transfer coefficients were measured in tubes with three dimensional roughness. Dimples were made by rotating the saw-tooth shaped finning disc on the outer tube surface. Resultant dimple shape was oval. Friction and heat transfer tests were performed with a range of roughness variables-roughness height 'e', axial roughness pitch 'p', circumferential roughness pitch 'z'. Within the test range, tube with e=0.5mm, z=5mm, p=3mm performed best. The efficiency ratio(rati of the heat transfer improvement and the pressure drop increase) of the tube approached 1.0 at low Reynolds number, and it was higher than that of the two-dimensional roughess tube of the same roughness height. Test data were predicted by 'discrete element method'. Results show that discrete element method underpredicts the friction data by 2% to 32%, and overpredicts the heat transfer data by-12% to 113%.

  • As a method of obtaining pulse transfer function. transfer function of discrete-time from input-output data, there are method of obtaining unknown parameter of pulse transfer function from estimated impulse response before(1-3). There is no need to approximate to several meanings because of not being established algebraical relations between impulse response for estimation error and parameter of transfer function exactly. In this paper, I inquire the method[4] of obtaining the optimal pulse transfer function as a meaning of Hankel norm approximation from impulse response data and examine estimated property as computer simulation from this method.

  • Pedestrian movement of passengers using smart card within stations can be divided into three types of activities - straight ride and alight, line transfer, and station transfer. Straight ride and alight is transfer activity for which the card terminal and embarking line are identical. In this case, straight ride occurs at the origin station and straight alight occurs at the destination station. Line transfer refers to activity in which the subway line embarked on by the passenger is different from that which is disembarked. Succinctly, line transfer is transfer at a middle station, rather than at origin or destination stations. Station transfer occurs when the card terminal line and embarking line are different. It appears when station transfer happens at the origin station as starting transfer, and at the destination station as destination transfer. In the case of Metropolitan smart card data, origin and destination station card terminal line number data is recorded, but subway line data does not exist. Consequently, transportation card data, as it exists, cannot adequately be used to analyze pedestrian movement as a whole in subway stations. This research uses the smart card data, with its constraints, to propose an analysis model for passenger pedestrian movement within subway stations. To achieve this, a path selection model is constructed, which links origin and destination stations, and then applied for analysis. Finally, a case study of the metropolitan subway is undertaken and pedestrian volume analyzed.

  • The forced convective boiling heat transfer coefficients of R-407C were measured inside a horizontal tube 6.0mm I.D. and 4.0m long. The heat transfer coefficients increased according to an increase in heat flux at constant mass flux. Because nucleation was completely suppressed in the two-phase flow region with high quality, heat transfer coefficients in forced convective evaporation were higher than those in nucleate boiling region. Average heat transfer coefficients of R-407C were about 30 percent lower than the pure refrigerant correlation, due to mass transfer resistance at the gas-liquid interface. However, the total experimental data shows an agreement with the predicted data for ternary refrigerant mixtures with a mean deviation of 30%.

  • The present study aims to evaluate transfer resistance factors in railway stations and draw new implications. The data used for the model estimation are RP (revealed preference) data and SP (stated preference) data. Two types of models were used for the analysis: integration model which combined line-haul stage, transfer stage and shuttle stage and separation model which assessed the three stages separately. The results revealed that while bulk freight shippers mainly focused on line-haul stage, they put emphasis on transfer stage as well. It's especially notable that transfer stage was considered more important than shuttle stage. Therefore, in future transportation policies concerning rail freight, it would be crucial not only to enhance the competitiveness of line-haul stage but also make improvements in transfer stage regarding railway stations.

  • The impact of State management factors on transfer pricing activities of foreign direct investment enterprises in Vietnam is examined in this study. This adds to the empirical evidence on factors affecting transfer pricing activities of foreign-invested enterprises in Vietnam. A questionnaire survey of officials directly involved in the inspection of transfer pricing activities is used as the research method. The study yielded 226 questionnaires. The author chose 210 questionnaires after deleting those that were ineligible due to a large number of blank cells. The following procedures are used to process the data from the satisfied votes: Cronbach's Alpha test to measure the reliability of the scale; Exploratory factor analysis to break down data into smaller sets of variables to discover the underlying structure; Descriptive analysis to describe the underlying quantitative features of the data; Correlation and regression analysis to evaluate the relationship between variables with the support of SPSS 25 software. Inspection pressure, professional inspector qualifications, and inspector role, State control organization, inspector professionalism, legal corridor on transfer pricing control, macroeconomic situation, and investment environment have a positive impact on state management on transfer price operations, according to research findings. The author has provided solutions to increase the efficiency of State management on transfer pricing operations of foreign-invested businesses in Vietnam based on the research findings.

  • In this paper, we discuss the program implementation and system optimization for the effective transfer of huge amount of data. In VLBI which is observing the celestial bodies by using radio telescope hundreds thousands km apart, it is necessary for each VLBI observatory to transfer up to terabytes of observed data. For this reason, e-VLBI research based on advanced network is being actively carried out for the transfer of data efficiently. Following this trend, in this paper, we discuss design & implementation of system for the high speed Gbps data transfer rates. As a data transfer protocol, we use UDP for designing data transmission program with much higher speeds than currently available via VTP(VLBI Transport Protocol). Tsunami-UDP algorithms is applied to implementing data transfer program so that transmission performance could be maximize, also we make it possible to transfer observed data more fast and reliable through optimization of computer systems in each VLBI statopm.

  • Public transportation card data, which is collected for purposes of the Integrated Public Transportation Fare System, provides neither transfer time nor transfer frequency occurring on the metropolitan city-rail (MCR). And because there are no transfer toll gates installed on the MCR, data on transfers between lines are estimated through means such as elicitations using survey questionnaire, or otherwise through macroscopic observations, which poses the risk of transfer time and frequencies being underestimated. For the accurate estimation thereof, an explanation of the transit path that arises between the Entry-and Exit-Gates must be provided. The purpose of this research is twofold : 1) to build a transit path model to reflect the current state of transfer movements on the basis of transportation card reader data, and 2) to deduce information on transfers occurring in the greater metropolis. To achieve these aims, the idea of Big Nodes is introduced in the model to align transportation card reader operation system characteristics with those of the MCR network. The link-label method is applied in the model as well to make certain that the MCR network runs in an effective manner. Administrative information obtained by the transportation card reader is used to derive transfer time and frequency both in the city's mid-zones, and in the Seoul-Gyeonggi-Incheon district's large-zones. Public transportation card data from a single specific day in year 2014 is employed in the building of the quantified transfer specific data. Extended usage thereof as providing comprehensive data of transfer resistance on the MCR is also examined.
