  • The sensor node's performance is expected to be improved and the price will be largely decreased. As USN-applied field is expanded, multiple application services are expected to be provided through one USN soon. Multiple applications be required a periodic data reporting, consecutive information monitoring, event-driven data and query-based data as the data pattern that USN is delivered. Accordingly, the mechanism which can assure QoS according to each data characteristic is required. In this paper, A proposed protocol apply the duty cycle of S-MAC protocol variably and flexible according QoS level. This method largely reduces the delay on the delay-sensitive traffic, while keeping the energy efficiency.

  • Generally, huge amounts of data traffic are generated by using broadcasting method to deliver sensing data to a sink node reliably so that it makes a severe network saturation problem resulting in unreliable data transfer. In order to handle this problem, a new congestion control protocol is required for supporting reliable data transfer, minimal use of energy and network resources at the same time in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, it proposes a Protocol to guarantee both a reliable transfer in data accuracy and minimum consumption of energy waste by using Hop-by-Hop sequence number and DSbACK(Delayed and Selective ACK Buffer Condition) scheme. In addition, it proves that reliability and energy efficiency are enhanced by the proposed method with the simulation results performed on TinyOS platform which is a component based built-in OS announced by UC Berkely with the performance comparison of other existing methods.

  • In this paper, we propose a wireless MAC protocol named APRMA, which is capable of supporting the ABR type data service and Maximizing channel utilization. Data terminals with random data packets are not provided slot reservation with PRMA protocol. That is, slot reservation is applicable to the time constraint voice packet exclusively. But the reservation scheme have to be performed for loss sensitive data packet, and contended their quality of service, Therefore, in wireless MAC, reservation technique has to be used for both voice and data services. So the terminal which wants to request for ABR type service, is allocated a minimum bandwidth from system for the first time, If the system have some extra available bandwidth, ABR terminals would acquire additional bandwidth slot by slot, As a result, APRMA protocol can support the data service with loss sensitivity and maintain their channel utilization high.

  • Wireless sensor networks are used in various applications due to the flexibility of network. In particular, the energy harvesting wireless sensor network (EH-WSN) has been introduced to solve the power limitation problem, and the application range of the sensor network is further expanded. In order to transmit the sensed data to the destination node, the MAC protocol considering the power of the nodes has been studied. The power situation and the urgency of the data are important elements of data transmission, and a medium access control protocol that comprehensively considers data urgency and power of nodes is required. In this paper, we propose a medium access control protocol which can select relay nodes according to power situation and urgency of data.

  • We propose a practical privacy-preserving clustering protocol over horizontally partitioned data. We extend the DBSCAN clustering algorithm into a distributed protocol in which data providers mix real data with fake data to provide privacy. Our privacy-preserving clustering protocol is very efficient whereas the previous privacy-preserving protocols in the distributed environments are not practical to be used in real applications. The efficiency of our privacy-preserving clustering protocol over horizontally partitioned data is comparable with those of privacy-preserving clustering protocols in the non-distributed environments.

  • In the Internet, multimedia data transfer is hard to guarantee the characteristics of the Real-Time because of the Best-Effort of the nature of IP, then additional mechanism is applied to multimedia application for real-time data. In this paper, we introduce the nature of multimedia and the necessary facility for real-time protocol. We propose protocol layer, which has necessary function above mentioned and offer the end-to-end transfer far real-time data. Also, the proposed protocol perform a next low operation: 1) a required information for QoS control by using Feedback mechanism is obtained from sender, 2) divided a transferred packet by delay and loss priority. 3) recognized the low service models, and 4) decided a bandwidth and QoS according to a network state

  • Wireless network technologies are becoming more widely used in industrial environment. The industrial communication system requires a real-time delivery of messages. The sensors periodically senses the physical environment and wants to deliver the data in real-time to the sink. This paper proposes a real-time protocol for periodic messages on wireless sensor and actor networks to be used in industrial communications. The proposed protocol delivers the data message using the shortest path from the source and the nearest actor. The protocol considers the energy consumption by reducing the number of broadcast messages during flooding. We have evaluated the performance of the proposed protocol using QualNet simulator. The simulation results show that the data messages have been delivered in real-time and the number of broadcast messages is reduced from 90% to 35% compared the existing protocols.

  • This paper suggests the methodology to guarantee the rea1-time service over Ethernet and TCP/IP and to solve the problems such as re-transmission due to collision and platform-transparency and independence. This paper proposes a new mechanism called Real-time Ethernet protocol combined the centralized medium control mechanism with the token passing mechanism. The centralized medium control mechanism is used to get the token, the right to transmit the data, and the token passing mechanism is used to return the token to the token controller and to transmit data within the specified time interval. The proposed Real-Time Ethernet Protocol is based on Java and Java RMI(Remote Method Invocation). The presented protocol is believed to work enough in real-time applications considering latency occurred due to the Java RMI, which is less small than data transmission time.

  • Level-encoded dual-rail (LEDR) has been widely used in onchip asynchronous interconnects supporting a 2-phase handshake protocol. However, it inevitably requires 2N wires for N-bit data transfers. Encoder and decoder circuits that perform an asynchronous 2-phase handshake protocol with only N wires for N-bit data transfers are presented for on-chip global interconnects. Their fundamentals are based on a ternary encoding scheme using current-mode multiple valued logics. Using 0.25 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technologies, the maximum reduction ratio of the proposed circuits, compared with LEDR in terms of power-delay product, was measured as 39.5% at a wire length of 10 mm and data rate of 100 MHz.

  • Jitter occurring during data communication creates difficulties in integrating a system. Such problems arise from using an event triggered communication protocol such as CAN(Controller Area Network) because it cannot be determined when a specific message will be transmitted. In order to avoid this problem, several time triggered communication protocols have been developed orare under development. Those protocols include TTP(TTTech) and TTCAN(BOSCH). But a time triggered communication protocol needs more hardware than an event triggered protocol and has more complicated software algorithm because data and time information goes through the existing data line ...
