  • Interest in mountain accidents among the technical trends of disasters in Korea is increasing continuously. When accidents occur, the most common methods are location tracking and accident reporting using smartphones, and rescue activities are being carried out by using them. In this paper, we proposed an improvement of wireless safety system for mountain climbing safety using 447 FSK. Using the 447 MHz band transmitter / receiver, it accumulates position coordinates and data through position transmission and rescue signal transmission in case of anomalies. If a sender is out of the threshold of the set area range, a danger warning notification can be generated to quickly exit the danger zone. Provide services. In addition, it is considered that the health condition of the sender is continuously checked and the receiver is warned when the specified threshold is exceeded, so that it is possible to respond to the sender's disaster.

  • This experiment was carried out for the selection of suitable cultivars on the green and fairway at the mountain area. The climate data showed that differences of altitude influenced greater than latitude on temperature and rainfall when compared with 3 areas of the central of Gyeong-gi and Yeong-seo, and the mountain area at Yeong-seo. The plot was prepared with the USGA profiles for green and modified California style for fairway at the mountain golf course in Wonju, Korea. The growth characteristics were compared on two different profiles for 3 years of growing seasons after seeding with 5 creeping bentgrass cultivars. 'T-1' and 'CY-2' showed a rapid greenup compare with other cultivars in spring of 2010 with the both green and fairway mowing height. However, 'Penncross' resulted the slowest among cultivars. 'T-1' showed the most prominent visual quality of overall rate and the deepest root length after one year of seeding, while 'Penncross' showed an excellent result of root length and weight during summer season. However, 'Penn A-1' had an imperial result in that season. Comparison of the growth characteristics under green and fairway conditions, 'T-1' and 'CY-2' showed exellent overall results at the mountain area at Yeong-seo area in Korea.

  • This study was conducted on migrants in 5 cities and counties near the Jirisan Dulle-gil Trail, designated as a National Forest Trail, to find out how the National Forest Trail affects the quality of life after migrants from urban to mountain villages. The group that used the Jirisan Dulle-gil Trail before and/or after the migration showed higher levels of impact on the migration decision, life satisfaction, and behavioral intention than the group that did not use the trail. The group that was affected by the Jirisan Dulle-gil Trail in deciding on the migration also showed higher usage satisfaction with the Jirisan Dulle-gil Trail, life satisfaction, satisfaction with the migration, and behavioral intention than the unaffected group. There were also significant differences in the quality of life according to the migration area, location satisfaction among the migration satisfaction levels, and behavioral intention. In conclusion, it was confirmed that the Jirisan Dulle-gil Trail plays an important role in the decision to migrate to mountain villages and the quality of life after the migration. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data to present policies related to National Forest Trails that can contribute to the development of mountain villages and countermeasures against population extinction in mountain villages.

  • The average income of forestry household was only 54.3% of urban workers's and 67.6% of farms household's income based on the data from statistics Korea in 2012. This indicates that forestry, which is a labor-intensive primary industry, has the limitation for creating added value. On the other hand, the demands for forest healing and forest experiential program have been continuously increased with new lifestyle focusing on the quality of life and increased leisure time. Therefore, it is necessary to establish comprehensive policies to increase added value except forestry to respond forest demands. The project utilizing forest healing can be on of solutions to meet forest demands. Thus, this research intends to investigate an economic revitalization plan for mountain villages with forest healing. The characteristics of forest healing facilities and contents of forest healing programs were examined through internet searching, fields surveys, and expert interviews. Total 186 concepts, 8 categories, and 24 subcategories were derived from raw data of surveys. The application process of forest healing was also provided to encourage local economy of mountain areas. This research offers application procedure of the forest healing for regional economic vitalization in Mountain Villages interviews using grounded theory by Strauss and Corbin(1988) as well as NVio11. This research contributes to prepare the base of future quantitative studies by providing strategies and suggestions for the application plans of forest healing programs. In addition, this research offers basic data for the policies to establish and manage forest healing villages.

  • In this paper, we propose a new clustering combination based on numerical data driven for rule generation mechanism. In large and complicated space, a clustering method can obtain limited performance results. To overcome the single clustering method problem, hybrid combined methods can solve problem to divided simple cluster estimation. Fundamental structure of the proposed method is combined by mountain clustering and modified Chen clustering to extract detail cluster information in complicated data distribution of non-parametric space. It has automatic rule generation ability with advanced density based operation when intelligent systems including neural networks and fuzzy inference systems can be generated by clustering results. Also, results of the mechanism will be served to information of decision support system to infer the useful knowledge. It can extend to healthcare and medical decision support system to help experts or specialists. We show and explain the usefulness of the proposed method using simulation and results.

  • Recent development of geographic information systems(GIS) provides a great deal of potential in handling a variety of spatial data required by forest resource managers. This study is designed to identify a possible GIS application in forest pest management. Several mountain pine beetle risk assessment parameters(stand characteristics, weather conditions, and topographic factor) were spatially analyzed through computer map overlaying operations in order to estimate the hazard level of the pest damage. In addition, the expected infestation route from an initially infected forest stand was located through further may analysis operations(distance measurement and connectivity analysis). Although current GIS technology may have a few limitations in operational situations, the computer based GIS has been proven as an invaluable tool to resource managers by providing flexible spatial data handing capabilities.

  • Currently, composite lining mountain tunnels in China are generally classified based on the [BQ] method for the surrounding rock grade. Increasingly, tunnel field construction is replicated indoors for scale down model tests. However, the development of analogous materials for model tests of composite lining tunnels with different surrounding rock grades is still unclear. In this study, typical Class III and V surrounding rock analogous materials and corresponding composite lining support materials were developed. The whole processes of excavation-support dynamics of the mountain tunnels were simulated. Data on the variation of deformations, contact pressures and strains on the surrounding rock were obtained. Finally, a comparative analysis between model tests and numerical simulations was performed to verify the rationality of analogous material development. The following useful conclusions were obtained by analyzing the data from the tests. The main analogous materials of Class III surrounding rock are barite powder, high-strength gypsum and quartz sand with fly ash, quartz sand, anhydrous ethanol and rosin for Class V surrounding rock. Analogous materials for rockbolts, steel arches are replaced by aluminum bar and iron bar respectively with both shotcrete and secondary lining corresponding to gypsum and water. In addition, load release rate of Class V surrounding rock should be less than Class III surrounding rock. The fenestration level had large influence on the load sharing ratio of the secondary lining, with a difference of more than 30%, while the influence of the support time was smaller. The Sharing ratios of secondary lining in Class III surrounding rock do not exceed 12%, while those of Class V surrounding rock exceed 40%. The overall difference between the results of model tests and numerical simulations is small, which verifies the feasibility of similar material development in this study.

  • Clustering is a method to classify the given data set with same property into several classes. To cluster data, many methods such as K-Means, Fuzzy C-Means(FCM), Mountain Method(MM), and etc, have been proposed and used. But the clustering results of conventional methods are sensitively influenced by initial values given for clustering in each method. Especially, FCM is very sensitive to noisy data, and cluster center distortion phenomenon is occurred because the method dose clustering through minimization of within-clusters variance. In this paper, we propose a clustering method which reduces cluster center distortion through merging the nearest data based on the data weight, and not being influenced by initial values. We show the effectiveness of the proposed through experimental results applied it to various types of data sets, and comparison of cluster centers with those of FCM.

  • This study provides basic data for the cost operating strategy of forest welfare infra facilities. We use the Price-Sensitivity Measurement technique (PSM) for a forest welfare infra facility (healing forest, wood camping, forest leisure sport, etc.). In addition, we conduct a survey in the four target locations (Kyung-gi, Kyung-sang, Chung-cheong, and Jeolla) and receive answer from 390. The results show that higher the price of present infra facilities, higher the price sensibility. The forest welfare infra facilities we include are healing forest 1,894 won, wood camping 5,625 won, mtb park 9,530 won, mountain horseback riding 14,556 won, paragliding 20,252 won, mountain ski 3,075won. However, we investigate zip-lines at lower than current price levels.

  • The purpose of this research is reconstruction of annual precipitation based on Tree-ring series at Seorak mountain and examine its effectiveness. To do so we performed nonlinear time series characteristics test of Tree-ring series and reconstructed annual precipitation of Gangneung from 1687 to 1911 using Artificial neural network and Nonlinear autoregressive exogeneous input (NARX) model which reflects stochastic properties. As a result, Tree-ring series at Seorak Mountain shows nonlinear time series property and reconstructed annual precipitation series drawn from NARX is similar in statistical characteristics of observed annual time series.
