  • This paper describes the realization of the full-color to the degree of nearest white light by compounding high brightness Red, Green and Blue LEDs with appropriate proportional index. Once these three colors; red, green and blue are mixed, they are genearlly additive mixing and produce white light color contrasted to negative mixing. The luminous efficiency is defined as the product of the efficiency(lm/w), which indicates the degree of perceptual response by the human eye to unit energy(W) of light emitted by an active display devises and as the conversion efficiency of the device from electric power consumed to optical energy produced. We will deduce the each number of LEDs theoretically and design several shapes of LED displays for the full-color. Finally theoretical predictions will be compared with the measured data with different type of display designs.

A Study of Optical Properties of Assembled Plasma Display Panel with 3-D Optical Code

  • The optical properties of PDP, such as the transmittance and reflectance, were analyzed with 3D optical code. Three different ITO-less structures in the front panel are examined. In the assembled panel study, the test 1 structure shows 16.6% and 10.2% higher reflectance than the structures of tests 2 and 3, respectively. In order to check the validation of the simulation result, three 7.5-inch test panels having the same geometry and property are fabricated as simulation models. The calculated reflective properties are compared to the measured data from real panels. The relative difference extracted from the simulation and measurement methods is less than 4.9% and are well matched.

A Method to Compensate a Luminance Distortion of a Time-multiplexing Spatially Interlaced Stereoscopic Three-dimensional Display

  • In a spatially interlaced stereoscopic (SIS) three-dimensional (3D) display to be realized by providing the observer a part of left-eye/right-eye images, a loss of information can be perceived due to the un-shown part of each image. In order to resolve that problem, an improved SIS 3D display is proposed to deliver the images without loss of information to the observer using a time-multiplexing scheme. However, that time-multiplexing SIS also has a problem of luminance distortion when the desired luminance is not shown due to an insufficient response of the liquid crystal cell. In this paper, we propose a new method by optimizing the image data to show correct luminance with minimum distortion.

  • In this paper, we have developed a system for monitoring and processing the real time sensor data in remote site through Internet. For realizing this system, measurement equipment and protocol are used to transmit the measurement data to remote server and to process measurement data. In server part, the received data from remote site sensor is converted to text or graphic charts for user. The measurement device in sensor part receives the sensor data form sensor and store the received data to its internal memory for transmitting data to server part through Internet. Also the measurement device can receive data form server. The temperature sensor is corrected to the measurement device located in laboratory and the measurement device measures temperature of laboratory which can be confirmed by user through Internet. We have developed a server program working on the Linux to store measurement data from measurement device to server memory. The program is use for SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) to exchange data with measurement device. Also the program changes the measurement data into text and graphic charts for user display. The program is use apache PHP program for user display and inquiry. The real time temperature measurement system can be applly for many parts of industry and living.

  • H.264/AVC is international video coding standard, which shows improved code and efficiency than the existing video standards. H.264/AVC proposes data partitioning method that considerably to be an effective layering technique which separates important addressing data from the residual data. UEP(Unequal Error Protection) turbo code of H.264/AVC uses retransmission system to get the UEP effectively. However, Data partitioning system of H.264/AVC is inefficient method in turbo code of H.264/AVC. Based on this observation, we propose the new UEP turbo code algorithm that reconstructs input sequence of turbo code without retransmission system.

  • On-line monitoring system(OMS) has been developed for the pumped storage generator/motor The OMS is applied to diagnosis of the PD(partial discharge) activity of stator insulation, the shorted-turn of rotor winding and the variation of the air-gap between stator and rotor. The OMS consists of DAS(data acquisition system), main server system, gateway and display PC. The DAS measures the PD, the shorted-turn and air-gap from three sensors installed on the generator/motor. The gateway controls the data which sent by DAS. The main server system saves the data, analyzes the data and conducts the diagnostic algorithm. The display PC shows the diagnostic results of partial discharge, shorted-turn and air-gap. Field tests were conducted using PDA(partial discharge analyzer). The results of the OMS and PDA measurements can be directly correlated with normalized quantity number(NQN), PD magnitude(Qm) and PD pattern.

  • AiPi technology incorporates an embedded clock and control scheme with a point-to-point bus topology, thereby having the smallest possible number of interface lines between a timing controller and column drivers. A point-to-point architecture boosts the data rate and reduces the number of interface lines, because impedance matching can be easily achieved. An embedded clock and control scheme is implemented by means of multi-level signalling, which results in a simple clock/data recovery circuitry. A 46" AiPi-based 10-bit FHD prototype requires only 20 interface lines, compared to 38 lines for mini-LVDS. The measured maximum data rate per data pair is more than 800 Mbps.

  • NAND flash memory is a non-volatile memory that retains stored data even without power supply. Internal memory used as a data storage device and solid-state drive (SSD) is used in portable devices such as smartphones and digital cameras. However, NAND flash memory carries the risk of electric shock, which can cause errors during read/write operations, so use error correction codes to ensure reliability. It efficiently recovers bad block information, which is a defect in NAND flash memory. BBT (Bad Block Table) is configured to manage data to increase stability, and as a result of experimenting with the error correction code algorithm, the bit error rate per page unit of 4Mbytes memory was on average 0ppm, and 100ppm without error correction code. Through the error correction code algorithm, data stability and reliability can be improved.

  • In this paper, we propose a telemedicine system based ECG data using a bio-signal meter and a smart device for treating faraway patients. This system is composed of a patch-shaped portable bio-signal meter, patient's smart device application, and doctor's PC software. Using these components, doctors and patients can do telemedicine. First, a patient measures his own ECG signal with a bio-signal meter and send the data to a doctor using a smart device application. Then, the doctor checks the ECG data, and make and send a diagnosis chart to web server. Likewise, doctors and patients can be offered a medical environment without time and space restraints. Applying this system to real medical system can improve the problem of low accessibility and efficiency and also can reduce medical expenses.

Adjustment Algorithms for the Measured Data of Stereo Vision Methods for Measuring the Height of Semiconductor Chips (반도체 칩의 높이 측정을 위한 스테레오 비전의 측정값 조정 알고리즘)

  • Lots of 2D vision algorithms have been applied for inspection. However, these 2D vision algorithms have limitation in inspection applications which require 3D information data such as the height of semiconductor chips. Stereo vision is a well known method to measure the distance from the camera to the object to be measured. But it is difficult to apply for inspection directly because of its measurement error. In this paper, we propose two adjustment methods to reduce the error of the measured height data for stereo vision. The weight value based model is used to minimize the mean squared error. The average value based model is used with simple concept to reduce the measured error. The effect of these algorithms has been proved through the experiments which measure the height of semiconductor chips.
