  • The XML is emerging as standard language for data exchange on the Web. Therefore the demand of XML Schema(W3C XML Schema Spec.) that verifies XML document becomes increasing. However, XML Schema has a weak point for design because of its complication despite of various data and abundant expressiveness. This paper shows a simple way of design for XML Schema using a fundamental means for database design, the Entity-Relationship model. The conversion from the Entity-Relationship model to XML Schema can not be directly on account of discordance between the two models. So we present some algorithms to generate XML Schema from the Entity-Relationship model. The algorithms produce XML Schema codes using a hierarchical view representation. An important objective of this automatic generation is to preserve XML Schema's characteristics such as reusability, global and local ability, ability of expansion and various type changes.

  • R2RML is a W3C standard language that defines how to expose the relational data as RDF triples. The output from an R2RML mapping is only an RDF dataset. By definition, the dataset has no schema. The lack of schema makes the dataset in linked data portal impractical for integrating and analyzing data. To address this issue, we propose an approach for generating automatically schemas for RDF graphs populated by R2RML mappings. More precisely, we represent the schema using ShEx, which is a language for validating and describing RDF. Our approach allows to generate ShEx schemas as well as RDF datasets from R2RML mappings. Our ShEx schema can provide benefits for both data providers and ordinary users. Data providers can verify and guarantee the structural integrity of the dataset against the schema. Users can write SPARQL queries efficiently by referring to the schema. In this paper, we describe data structures and algorithms of the system to derive ShEx documents from R2RML documents and presents a brief demonstration regarding its proper use.

  • This study analyzed the current condition of authority control, introduced the MADS(Metadata Authority Description Schema) for authority data. MADS supports encoding an authority description for a agent(person, organization), event, term(topic, temporal entity, genre, geographic entity, hierarchical geographic entity, occupation) and defines main elements, subelements, and attributes using the XML schema language. Lastly, using the MADS's characteristics, this study proposed the effective use plans of interoperability of authority data.

  • With the development of industry, product data management system is becoming more and more important. An expanded view of product definition function that include a bill of material and routing database, current and historical engineering data and specifications and engineering changes order history. PDM (Product Data Management) systems hold and manage such material as product specifications, plans, geometric models, CAD drawings and images. Furthermore, PDM enables companies producing complex products to spread product data in to the entire launch process. Especially, PDTnet XML Schema is an international standard for exchanging of PDM data. But PDTnet XML Schema differs from existing XML Schema in the way that its property of IDREF/IDREFS is irregular. Therefore it is important factor that. what do we use storage devices and storage techniques. We developed storage techniques and application supporting various query types and preserving PDTnet XML Schema using a relational database that guaranteeing the performance nowadays. In this paper, we will show that our storage techniques minimize repeated data and optimize query processing by using application comparison with storage techniques of existing XML Schema data.

  • In this paper, we introduce a computing resource standard metadata schema design plan for registering, retrieving, and managing computing resources used for research data analysis and utilization in the Korea Research Data Commons(KRDC). KRDC is a joint utilization system of research data and computing resources to maximize the sharing and utilization of research data. Computing resources refer to all resources in the computing environment, such as analysis infrastructure and analysis software, necessary to analyze and utilize research data used in the entire research process. The standard metadata schema for KRDC computing resource management is designed by considering common attributes for computing resource management and other attributes according to each computing resource feature. The standard metadata schema for computing resource management consists of a computing resource metadata schema and a computing resource provider metadata schema. In addition, the metadata schema of computing resources and providers was designed as a service schema and a system schema group according to their characteristics. The standard metadata schema designed in this paper is used for computing resource registration, retrieval, management, and workflow services for computing resource providers and computing resource users through the KRDC web service, and is designed in a scalable form for various computing resource links.

  • Recently, XML has been widely used as a standard for a data exchange, and there has emerged the tendency that the size of XML document becomes larger. The data transfer can cause problems due to the increase in traffic, especially when a massive data such as Data Warehouse is being collected and analyzed. Therefore, an XMDR wrapper can solve this problem since it analyzes the tree structures of XML Schema, regenerates XML Schema using the analyzed tree structures, and sends it to each station with an XMDR Query. XML documents which are returned as an outcome encode XML tags according to XML Schema, and send standardized messages. As the formalized XML documents decrease network traffic and comprise XML class information, they are efficient for extraction, conversion, and alignment of data. In addition, they are efficient for the conversion process through XSLT, too, as they have standardized forms. In this paper we profuse a method in which XML Schema and XMDR_Query sent to each station are generated through XMDR(extended Meta-Data Registry) and the generation of products and XML conversion occur in each station wrapper.

  • The objective of this paper is to give a brief review of relational design methodology, and show how a relational schema can be converted into an object-relational schema. We first introduce relational terminology and describe the relational design process along with its limitations. Next we show how the relational model can be extended to overcome these limitations : these extensions form the core of an object-relational data model ; we use the UniSQL/X data model as an example. We illustrate the process or converting a relational schema into an object-relational schema, and show the benefits of this conversion with respect to queries. The conversion process is then summarized as a set of guidelines. Finally, we make our conclusions.

  • XML is the new universal format for structured documents and data on the World Wide Web. As the Web becomes a major means of disseminating and sharing information and as the amount of XML data increases substantially, there are increased needs to manage and design such XML document in a novel yet efficient way. Moreover a demand of XML Schema(W3C XML Schema Spec.) that verifies XML document becomes increasing recently. However, XML Schema has a weak point for design because of its complication despite of various data and abundant expressiveness. Thus, it is difficult to design a complex document reflecting the usability, global and local facility and ability of expansion. This paper shows a simple way of modeling for XML document using a fundamental means for database design, the Entity-Relationship model. The design from the Entity-Relationship model to XML Schema can not be directly on account of discordance between the two models. So we present some algorithms to generate XML Schema from the Entity-Relationship model. The algorithms produce XML Schema codes using a hierarchical view representation. An important objective of this modeling is to preserve XML Schema's object-oriented concepts such as reusability, global and local ability. In addition to, implementation procedure and evaluation of the proposed design method are described.

  • IFC, a neutral standard data model for BIM, ensures data interoperability across BIM applications but struggles with adapting to diverse construction standards across countries and regions. In practice, the standard IFC schema does not include the entity and attribute information necessary for reviewing Korean Construction Standards. To overcome this, this study developed an extended IFC schema that incorporates design and construction standards data specifically for bridge. The extended IFC schema defines entities for representing types of bridges, structures, and elements, and Psets for containing relevant standards information. This schema is customized to be compatible with both Korean Design Standards (KDS) and Korean Construction Specifications (KCS). Additionally, based on the extended IFC schema, a specialized extension module was developed, capable of embedding design and construction standards data by element within IFC Physical File. Through this module, the necessary design and construction standards were inserted into specific elements.
