  • Application systems outsourcing is an important part of IT outsourcing services. Application systems outsourcing costs is determined by service levels of outsourcers. Recent researches show there is a strong need to build industry-specific cost estimation models. In this study, an industry-specific application systems operation cost estimation model is suggested. We reviewed operation cost models of previous researches, and proposed a cost estimation model for security industry. Industry-specific service factors are defined and service levels are determined by Interviews with experts. The proposed model is tested and adjusted with empirical data. The new model shows more accurate prediction than previous general models. Future research will be needed to develop outsourcing cost estimation models for other industries and to refine cost models developed in this study.

  • Cities in Indonesia include diverse scattered industrial centers comprising industries that can sustain the existing economic pace. For industrial data collection, the city government still relies on census that consumes extensive time and money. The public are unfamiliar with industries owing to their lack of industry information; therefore, the market share is not optimal. In addition, the opportunity to procure investors for business development is limited. A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system that can record, store, write, analyze, and display geographical data. Using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method, GIS was developed on a website platform to provide information on industry profiles, types of production, investment values, industry maps, and industrial locations in each village and sub-district to a wider community. The RAD method was chosen compared to the waterfall method because it could accelerate website development process.

  • Most companies in the IT service industry have suffered from low profitability although this industry is highly value added, which may result in losing the competitiveness of the industry. The purpose of this study is to identify the influencing factors on the profit improvement rate of IT service projects and suggest how to improve the profit improvement rate, thus recovering the competitiveness of the IT service industry. The 273 IT service projects conducted by an IT service company in Korea during the past three years were analyzed and the project managers who performed these projects responded to the questionnaire developed in this study. The result from the analysis of data collected shows that the influencing factors on the profit improvement rate of IT service projects include scheduling, experience in similar projects, the leadership of project leaders, the level of team skills, relationship with clients, and clients support.

  • Our N.C. sewing machine is a device that acts sewing automatically in reference to N.C. data made by data input device. Our N.C. sewing mechine is composed of induction motor that has electric clutch and brake, step motor that drives x-y table. Sewing area of our machine is 170 mm * 100 mm, maximum sewing speed is about 2000 spm, maximum stitch length 6.2 mm. In actual sewing, synchronization between motion of needle up-down and motion of x-y table is a critical factor. In this paper, technology about synchronization will be profoundly discussed.

  • With the interest on operational efficiency due to the rapid growth of food material distribution industry and food service industry, the study adopts DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) model and examines to measure the technological, pure technical and scale efficiency those companies engaging in the food material distribution and food service business. As a result of analysis, the companies operating integrated business have relatively higher efficiency than those operating only food material distribution or food service companies while the result indicates that three efficiencies don't have significant difference depending on whether affiliated companies or not. In the results from the measuring by DEA.

  • Recently, concerns regarding ubiquitous health have been on the increase according to development of ubiquitous technology and growth of health industry. This study suggested a necessity for market segmentation for the creation of new markets of ubiquitous health business under this background. This paper also analyzed possibile health service industry with characteristics of customers by making an analysis of market segmentation. It was grouped into 4 parts by factor analysis and cluster analysis with raw data collected, the results showed that they would be main potential ubiquitous health service industry. However, some are not significant in statistics, which means that since ubiquitous health industry has not yet been experienced, it probably shows uncertainty about its favour. Finally, the study suggested that a future study should build up more detailed market segmentation data with continuous supplementation.

  • In this paper a software program is given for food product life (shelf life) estimation. There are many modules of related operations, considering the characteristic of food industry so that users can easily use and understand the software, and we make the related data referenced In data base. In food industry acceleration tests depend on food deterioration differential equations. Based on such equations, etc, this paper suggests a shelf life estimation software program.

  • An increasing number of studies have examined the effects of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities on corporate financial performance (CFP) in the service industry. However, the extant literature does not provide comprehensive insights into the conditions on which the CSR-CFP link relies. In this study, firms' marketing communication capability (MCC) is introduced as an important contingency variable, which determines the effects of CSR on the corporate financial performance, in the context of restaurant businesses. Multiple year data on the spending of public restaurant chains on different media are collected, and MCC is subsequently measured using the data envelope analysis. Then, a test is conducted to prove whether MCC moderates the relationship between CSR and firm financial performance. The empirical results support the hypothesis that MCC strengthens the effect of CSR on CFP. Through the findings, this research provides several interesting and important implications to the literature and managers of service firms.
