  • We developed a real-time CCD photometric program for IBM PC compatibles. This program can perform several functions necessary for CCD photometry such as telescope control. filter rotation, CCD camera control and data acquisition, two-dimensional image processing, simple aperture photometry and automatic differential photometry. The image processing of a spiral galaxy M51 observed with the SNU 61cm reflector shows a well developed spiral structure. Simple aperture photometric results of 14 stars in open cluster NGC 6871 almost accorded with those from IRAF/APPHOT. And we could confirm the light variation of eclipsing binary EM Cep by simultaneous automatic differential photometry of 7stars in NGC 7160. Due to the excellence in the precision and efficiency of automatic differential photometry using CCD. this program is very useful for the study of small amplitude ${\delta}$ Sct type variables and of the photometric stability of B ${\sim}$ F type stars.

Construction and Functional Tests of Fuel Assembly Mechanical Characterization Test Facility (핵연료집합체 기계적특성 시험시설 구축과 기능시험)

  • Fuel assembly's mechanical characterization test facility (FAMeCT) in KAERI was constructed with upgraded functional features such as increased loading capacity, underwater vibration testing and severe earthquake simulation for extended fuel design guideline. This facility is designed and developed to provide out-pile fuel data for accident analysis model and fuel licensing. Functional tests of FAMeCT were performed to confirm functionality, structural integrity, and validity of newly-built fuel assembly mechanical test facility. Test program includes signal check of data acquisition system, load delivering capacity using real-sized fuel assemblies and a standard loading cylindrical rigid specimen. Fuel assembly's lateral bending test was carried out up to 30 mm of pull-out displacement. Limit case axial compression loading test up to 33 kN was performed to check structural integrity of UCPS (Upper Core Plate Simulator) support frame. Test results show that all test equipment and measurement system have acceptable range of alignment, signal to noise ratio, load carrying capacity limit without loss of integrity. This paper introduces newly constructed fuel assembly's mechanical test facility and summarizes results of functional test for the mechanical test equipment and data acquisition system.

A Study on engine characteristics of vibration using microcomputer (Microcomputer를 이용(利用)한 디젤기관(機關)의 진동특성(振動特性) 분석(分析)에 관(關)한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to develop a microcomputer-based data acquisition system and software for analysis of engine vibration. Due to this development of system and software, studies on the vibration of engine was able to conduct efficiently. From the display of CRT, the outputs of test was compared and analysed on a zero-base motoring. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. Data acquisition system in microcomputer were designed and programmed and operated accurately. 2. The result of test was easily compared in monitoring of zero-base at color monitor. 3. This system and program developed was able to control the measuring intervals, no. of channels, and no. of data as wated. 4. The type of vibration of engine was type of bi-mode from the FFT and statistical analysis. 5. The maxima of engine vibration were 9.11 G at X-axis. 11.27 G at Y-axis, and 4.9 G at Z axis for full load of net output 6. The maxima of engine vibration unloaded were 4.28 G, 5.59 G, 2.68 G at 2200 rpm.

  • This paper describes a lateral guidance system of an autonomous vehicle, using a neural network model of magneto-resistive sensor and magnetic fields. The model equation was compared with experimental sensing data. We found that the experimental result has a negligible difference from the modeling equation result. We verified that the modeling equation can be used in simulations. As the neural network controller acquires magnetic field values(B$\_$x/, B$\_$y/, B$\_$z/) from the three-axis, the controller outputs a steering angle. The controller uses the back-propagation algorithms of neural network. The learning pattern acquisition was obtained using computer simulation, which is more exact than human driving. The simulation program was developed in order to verify the acquisition of the teaming pattern, teaming itself, and the adequacy of the design controller. The performance of the controller can be verified through simulation. The real autonomous electric vehicle using neural network controller verified good results.

  • This paper describes a system for measurement and control of a gas flow. In order to measure the flux of gas and control a vavle according to flux, this system was developed. This system is implemented on the personal computer and its environment is developed tool called TMS. This system includes a main program and Tele-Metering Unit for transmitting correcting flow value based on temperature and pressure in flow computer and AD converter for transmitting instantaneous flow rate, temperature and pressure as interface part of personal computer. This system was made by Visual C++ program. Using this system, inspected data for the recognition of transmitting flow value are generated on the screen, file and printer. The activity, reliability of this system was verified on Daegu-Citygas that aids the system for the acquisition of inspected data by realtime application.

  • A system for EMAT, which generates ultrasound by electro-magnectic forces and performs nondestructive testing in noncontact, was established. By linking it with a 3 axis scanning system and a data acquisition and processing system the automation of EMAT testing was attempted. A EMAT sensor was fabricated and the directivity pattern of it was measured. To be suitable automation, it has a transmitter and a receiver in one case and the main beam direction of it can be controlled by the frequency of driving signal. A program which controls the EMAT system, the 3 axis scanner and the data acquisition and processing system was developed. It also processes acquired data and displays the processing results. IBM-PC/AT compatible PC was used as main controller and the stratage of the program is emulation of real devices on the PC monitor. To provide the performance of the established EMAT system, two aluminium blocks containing artificial flaws and a welded aluminium block were tested. The result of the tests were satisfactory.

Development of a Portable Device based on PDA for Vibration Signal Analysis (PDA 기반 포터블 진동 신호 분석기 개발)

  • In this study, we developed a portable device which can monitor and analyze vibration signals from machines. This system consists a PDA loading the program for vibration analysis and A/D board for vibration acquisition. A PDA is smaller than the palm of the hand, but it has a powerful computing ability as much as an IBM compatible PC with a Pentium 100MHz CPU. The A/D board developed in this study supports LAN interface using TCP/IP communication protocol. The application program for vibration analysis includes signal processing module, fault diagnosis module, data store module, and plot display module. MS visual embedded C++ 3.0 was used to developed the program.

  • 본 논문에서는 좁은 수로에서의 3단계의 기울기와 2단계의 유량에서 수차의 흘수와 효율에 관한 실험을 수행하였다. 컴퓨터에 의하여 제어되는 자동화된 축소 실험 환경을 구성하고, 3단계의 기울기와 2단계의 유량 각각에 대하여 10단계의 흘수별 회전효율 데이터를 취득하고, 취득한 데이터를 이용하여 회전 효율을 분석하고, 전에 실험한 다른 논문의 결과와 비교하여 잘못된 결과들을 찾아내고, 유사하게 현상들의 동일함을 확인하며, 수작업 실험에서 밝혀내지 못한 현상들을 추가하여, 컴퓨터의 이용효과를 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, a PC-based virtual measuring program for efficiency analysis of DC-DC converter is developed. Furthermore, a newly developed, highly accurate and reliable data acquisition system for DC-DC converter is presented. The virtual measuring system consists of two different types of monitoring and measuring system. Also, this paper give a full explanation for a LabVIEW realization of the measuring system for DC-DC converter.
